  1. I use notepad, when I get around to doing a little simple HTML :)
  2. It at least partly depends on why the other countries aren't providing their citizens with the basic needs of life. -If it's because they can't, then that's okay - because hopefully the extra money going in will make the workers richer, and then once they're richer they'll start campaigning for better rights. - If it's because there's a corrupt government that steals all the money, then it's more complicated.
  3. I believe more like, Pey-sack, and you have to do a little gurgle in the back of your throat on the 'ck' part.

    Swimming?

I had lessons 3ish times a week from 5 years old to 11. I have no qualms with swimming ^-^

    i smoke

fire_thugRS, I never said that the government was perfect, I just explained the moral reasoning behind high taxes on cigarettes. Even if the government is just doing it to be selfish itself, and get more money, at least there is a sound moral precedent. If it was up to me, then there would indeed be more progressive taxation and less bombs and guns.

The government takes into account the factors which you, as a selfish human being, do not. - When you blow smoke all over someone, they probably would rather you weren't. If that same someone came up to you and coughed in your face, you probably wouldn't be very happy either. - When you get lung cancer and need an expensive operation, it costs all the non-smokers money (assuming you live in a country with a national health service). In America, they'd do the same thing, but instead they'd have a little question on your health insurance which says "smoker Y/N", and if you answered "Y", then they'd up your premium. Therefore, the government imposes restrictions and taxes which take into account the harm you do, but don't care about.
  7. In university you really do have to take responsibility for your own learning. But then you have the opportunity to really become someone unique, with your own unique research interests and such. Rather than just another highschool graduate.
  8. I don't see any ads since I've had to use a proxy to access the tip.it forum (which blocks them). The tip.it proxy detection script erroneously detects my new home router as a proxy (but ironically has no problem with a real proxy).
  9. It's about making an issue about discrimination against sexual preference, to bring it to the public's attention, because there is discrimination, and it needs to be challenged. Astralinre, in Ancient Greek times, dreaming was thought to be 'abnormal', so no one admitted to dreaming. Much like people find it difficult to admitting to being homosexual now.
  10. RS came out for beta testing in January 2001. Fact.
  11. Nice post Nathaninch. A teacher of mine once argued that you have to be religious to lead a moral life, but that's not the case at all.
  12. Snowdon in Wales. However I went up in the cable car :P 8)
  13. Sometimes I glance at someone's post count and am surprised how high it is.. usually because they frequent one of the boards that I rarely look at such as Media :)
  14. You could say that you find belief in a higher power ridiculous. Whatever you say, I'd like you to stop slyly insulting people for their beliefs.
  15. Hmm.. maybe 3 years ago? I don't remember exactly. I guess I just don't really want to remember :P
  16. Believe in yourself then 8)
