  1. I don't believe we're being manipulated, and feel fine. I just think we realize there isn't a dam thing we can do right now. The democrats aren't helping us out one bit. We need a new party or something, but good luck with that nonsense. I could deal with what Bush has done to America's image, but his ideas on education and other domestic issues are driving me mad. They hardly make sense at all, and there's definitely better ways to make progress with our children. The new increase in testing is not going to help one bit, I know that much. But like I've said, we're helpless really. I'm out of highschool now and I have no children, so I really have nothing to say about the mess education has become, especially when there's nothing I can do.
  2. Anyone think the Sabres can make some magic if they get back to where they were before these last losses?
  3. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... das_2.html hm. what does this mean to you believers? I'm sort of on the outside concerning all of this because I don't believe in God. Help me understand the impact, if any. Thanks.
  4. definitely the album "Something Else" by the Kinks The Animal Collective's new album is nice. Donovan. Midlake. and um... The Velvet Underground's self titled album is probably something you'd enjoy.. give them all a listen.
  5. Rebound relationships aren't half bad. Sometimes the girls are pretty fiesty as a result. haha I say smooth sailin' for ya. And all this advice about getting to know her first, just fool around and get comfortable, that's the most important thing. You guys will get to know eachother and come close to love best if you just let it happen eventually after foolin' around and buildin' a good physical relationship IMO.
  6. When I quit I just gave myself a few days with no responsibilities so I could lay in my bed and freak out. Chew on things too, like a toothpick or something, or even just leave a cigarette in your mouth all day. But I do realize that kicking the whole habit of having one in your hand and all that is just as bad as the actual chemical dependence, so that last idea may not be the right course. Anyways, I've managed to quit for over 2 months twice, but honestly I just don't like the normal mindset. I prefer being on edge all day with the nicotine in my system.
  7. Hey, my buddy showed me a forum with Elliott Smith covers, and I thought it'd be worth trying to see if any of you have things to share. Anyone with recording capabilities and a favorite song they'd like to cover, please post it here. I love to hear people play. Here's one I did. I'm not good, but it isn't too bad. Elliott Smith's "white lady loves you more". http://media.putfile.com/Elliott-Cover- ... s-you-more
  8. um.. i'd agree with Lennon and Dylan, and i'd add Ray Davies, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Neil Young, Donovan.
  9. yea i meant sartre, typo. yea, vonnegut tends to repeat himself a lot, but i always thought it's pretty amazing he could go on national television and call the human race a "disease" on the earth and escape any vehement criticism. ever read Age of Reason by Sartre though? really good read. "Being and Nothingness" is a bit too complex for me unfortunately, but I do hear some good commentary concerning that book every so often that I can understand.
  10. Hm, as an American, I wonder if we're stuck with this form of government and culture, or if there will eventually be something else to replace it with. And I don't mean some kind of tyranny, but a better form of democracy.. any ideas what could be possible?

well you're finding help, that's nice. my advice though-- besides the above which you've already done-- is to read some existentialism and get to the point where nothing really matters anymore. jk :)
  12. hey, just wondering if anyone else enjoys these writers, and if you'd like to have a discussion about their works?
