  1. I don't believe we're being manipulated, and feel fine. I just think we realize there isn't a dam thing we can do right now. The democrats aren't helping us out one bit. We need a new party or something, but good luck with that nonsense. I could deal with what Bush has done to America's image, but his ideas on education and other domestic issues are driving me mad. They hardly make sense at all, and there's definitely better ways to make progress with our children. The new increase in testing is not going to help one bit, I know that much. But like I've said, we're helpless really. I'm out of highschool now and I have no children, so I really have nothing to say about the mess education has become, especially when there's nothing I can do.
  2. Anyone think the Sabres can make some magic if they get back to where they were before these last losses?
  3. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... das_2.html hm. what does this mean to you believers? I'm sort of on the outside concerning all of this because I don't believe in God. Help me understand the impact, if any. Thanks.
  4. definitely the album "Something Else" by the Kinks The Animal Collective's new album is nice. Donovan. Midlake. and um... The Velvet Underground's self titled album is probably something you'd enjoy.. give them all a listen.
  5. Rebound relationships aren't half bad. Sometimes the girls are pretty fiesty as a result. haha I say smooth sailin' for ya. And all this advice about getting to know her first, just fool around and get comfortable, that's the most important thing. You guys will get to know eachother and come close to love best if you just let it happen eventually after foolin' around and buildin' a good physical relationship IMO.
  6. When I quit I just gave myself a few days with no responsibilities so I could lay in my bed and freak out. Chew on things too, like a toothpick or something, or even just leave a cigarette in your mouth all day. But I do realize that kicking the whole habit of having one in your hand and all that is just as bad as the actual chemical dependence, so that last idea may not be the right course. Anyways, I've managed to quit for over 2 months twice, but honestly I just don't like the normal mindset. I prefer being on edge all day with the nicotine in my system.
  7. Hey, my buddy showed me a forum with Elliott Smith covers, and I thought it'd be worth trying to see if any of you have things to share. Anyone with recording capabilities and a favorite song they'd like to cover, please post it here. I love to hear people play. Here's one I did. I'm not good, but it isn't too bad. Elliott Smith's "white lady loves you more". http://media.putfile.com/Elliott-Cover- ... s-you-more
  8. um.. i'd agree with Lennon and Dylan, and i'd add Ray Davies, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Neil Young, Donovan.
  9. yea i meant sartre, typo. yea, vonnegut tends to repeat himself a lot, but i always thought it's pretty amazing he could go on national television and call the human race a "disease" on the earth and escape any vehement criticism. ever read Age of Reason by Sartre though? really good read. "Being and Nothingness" is a bit too complex for me unfortunately, but I do hear some good commentary concerning that book every so often that I can understand.
  10. Hm, as an American, I wonder if we're stuck with this form of government and culture, or if there will eventually be something else to replace it with. And I don't mean some kind of tyranny, but a better form of democracy.. any ideas what could be possible?

    Anxiety

well you're finding help, that's nice. my advice though-- besides the above which you've already done-- is to read some existentialism and get to the point where nothing really matters anymore. jk :)
  12. hey, just wondering if anyone else enjoys these writers, and if you'd like to have a discussion about their works?
  13. i always enjoy abstract designs that play on our spatial perception, but this sig needs some better feathering in some areas, especially in that left portion where the squared shape is feathered through in an unattractive way. nice though, just work on it some more with some different kinds of designs coming through the feathering and make it a bit more active and pleasing.
  14. also, before you get frustrated by the pathetic sound of your playing after a while of practice, try out some more expensive guitars, because even some of the best players can sound like crap on those cheap electrics :)
  15. yea, just learn to palm mute first, maybe play some music with alot of power chords and what not. after that you can begin to try out bending and picking techniques. i would also suggest learning the basic chord names such as G, C, D, E, F... but as that other guy said, the most important thing starting out is building your finger strength and speed. learn alot of strange chords too that force your fingers to learn seemingly "odd and uncomfortable" positions. have fun man, good times ahead.
  16. Hey. I thought it would make for a great experience if we all took some time to reflect on past work and post any which have given us pride in having completed, or those which are the most aesthetically pleasing. Anyone willing to share?
  17. wish you would have ripped down the jamrock poster lol that ones a bit too sharp and ruines the photo imo. amazing look though. good job.
  18. we need to eat other animals/plants (which is destructive) to survive, and we are built physically and biologically to reproduce. The fact that these needs overpower our thoughts, makes it pretty obvious to me that we honestly have little control over how we feel about life most of the time. You can't escape your human feelings, because these are a survival mechanism. So, why are we created so complex? Don't you think we could be built so much simpler? And if the object is to be good, well shouldn't we have been made so that being "good" was easy? Either way, I'm quite sure humans are only some form of disease for the earth, or some other factor involved in its maintenance/destruction. And regarding God, I don't believe in it at all, and certaintly not intelligent design. If there is one, it's not worth our praise, as many have mentioned before.
  19. great idea man. your creativity is recognized. can you add that to some abstract sig of some sort sometime just as one portion of it? that would make my day.

    Glosy effect

if you get more going on inside your sig you can use the dodge tool to for some interesting gloss-like stuff also. i always enjoy that.
  21. Hey, if you just started making sigs.. liquify an image. go to your sig, feather an area 30 percent, paste the liquified image inside, and change the hue higher. you'll like the result.
