No way, have you got their new album? Every single song sounds similar and they include a crappy 'woahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh' in every song. Sure, they can write nice riffs and solos and play at amazing speed, but they can't write half good songs.

This is just turned into one of those 'who has the most songs' threads, when it's obvious mostly everyone on here has downloaded em all.

Yeah you probably could, but that's their style.. they probably want their music to sound like that. But the main point is not just how they sing, but what they sing about, could you write summit better? Anyone can cover songs.

If they weren't catchy I doubt they'd have 90% of their fans they have now.

Yep... I play bass, I try green day bass and it's so easy! I could play it on the day I got my bass :? Overrated? Artic Monkeys, no skill, my dog can sing better IMO. I know where the artic monkeys can go and it's censored on here... You can't really say that.. yes they might not sing well, or Green Day might not play complex bass stuff, but could you write something better? It's not bout playing, anyone could play Green Day stuff or sing better than Arctic Monkeys but can they write better stuff? If we didn't have 'simple' bands half the people who have a guitar now probably wouldn't of ever got one. I got one to play along with songs I like, Blink 182 etc.. yes they're amazingly easily but I'd never be able to write anything like em the same year I got my guitar.

Take your own advice.. Anyway staying on topic, I've had their two albums a while now and just got their new one the other day and it's amazing. Probably not as good as the first two, but it has some brilliant songs. 'The Theft' is something I never thought Atreyu would be able to do, and it's one of the best on the album. Definitely recommend buying it.

For all I know they're a band that's only liked and hyped by people who've got poop for brains that don't even know what they like about the group. And they aren't very well liked amongst critcs and people that do know what they are talking about. I don't think they're seriously overrated, so I was wondering why everbody here does. Other than it's hip to bash Greenday. American Idiot the album has been number 1 in some weird chart for nearly 2 years now.. The song 'American Idiot' got number one for best rock song ever or summit on Kerrang.. beating Metallica and such other classics, and it's not even good.. American Idiot wouldn't even be in my top 1000 songs and I don't actually hate Green Day.. their video's are played on Kerrang, probably MTV aswell not sure tho, every 10 mins or so, they're always given praise off Kerrang for being the 'Best punk band ever' I mean c'mon, you really believe they're the best punk band ever? Last year at the Kerrang award thingy, dunno the exact name, they got 'Best live band' then they showed a performance, and it was terrible, worst live performance I'd ever seen/heard.. then I remember some other MTV award thingy last year, they won at least 3 awards, best album, best vid or summit? Their only good vid is Jesus Of Suburbia, and that won nothing as far as I know. And for the last time, their album American Idiot is hardly the 'best album ever'.. it's poor.

Skill as in song writing or instrument playing? I admit they're way over-rated but you don't have to have skill in playing guitar or drums to make songs, their style is basic.
