  1. you what????

I know mirrorforced has a camel mask+ elidinis robes, but I thought he had flippers, and I didn't know he had a quest cape

Ah, I've found his pic on the other thread, and I can see the similarity. There are a few small differences (I think the ivandis rod goes better personally, and that flippers look a little odd). But honestly, I came up with the outfit myself (basically slapped my shiny new quest cape on my usual gear)

Thinking back now, it could be the case that I got the camel mask, elidinis robe combo from Mirrorforced - about a year or so ago, just after the camel-mask quest was released. I can't quite remember, it was that long ago.

But the addition of the quest cape, and ice gloves and ivandis rod I definitely came up with myself.

So yeah, its not a copy, just a case of two people having a good idea at the same time. I was just beaten to it. Oh well :wall:

  2. Bow strings made by Zezima. They probably were, but thats not the point.

Aaaah - it does me good to hear mention of the fez again. It used to by part of my outfit, but I'd get people offering to buy it all the time. Generally for 10-20k. I must have sold about 10 of them until I move onto my camel mask. Now I wish they were tradeable - I got offered 1M for one once!

So yeah, noobs don't just sell odd 'rares', they buy them too.

  3. I must admit I'm disappointed by this article. It falls far short of the usually high standard of TipIt articles. The bit on mathematics is bordering on ridiculous. Even I find it takes too long to perform most calculations while trading. There are examples of where I use mathematics, but surely most people would use a calculator?

The main problem with saying 'Runescape taught me...' is that while there are many things that are factual, there are more that aren't. How can you identify which is which?

As for history, the author clearly doesn't know what history is about. When you get to any level in which you might take an exam, it is more about ideas than facts.

As for creative writing, read a few books. It will do you far more good. Instead of merely plot ideas you will learn how to actually write them down.

While it may be true that there are educational aspects to Runescape, this article made an incredibly poor case for them.

  4. I suspect that there is a quite a large difference between those words used in context in films, and those words used directed towards you in the in-game chat.

Though one word I want unblocked is 'homo-'. The chat blocks it, even when part of a word. It means 'the same', for flips sake, whats wrong with that? For that matter whats wrong with homosexuality that even an inadvertant mention must be censored?

Censoring that just bugs me because there are so many legitimate words that contain it.

  5. f2p is just a demo of the game, and it should not have seperate hiscores- afterall its their fault they cant pay a little sum of money per month they like playing.

Is it me, or is that a little random? It had nothing really to do with the subject, and almost makes it appear as if you have a hatred of people less well off than you. (I don't want to get into the whole p2p vs f2p argument). But while we are on the subject it strikes me that a high level in a skill on an f2per is more admirable - as its harder to level in f2p.

Anyway, back on topic. I like the idea of dividing total by combat level, because it is a combination of factors. If you could maybe work total experience into that as well, then it would be perfect.

EDIT - I was thinking about it, and came up with something. if you take the log, base 'a', of your total experience, where 'a' is your total level, you get a measure of how focused your skills are. For instance a level 99 autoer will have about 13M experience, and total level about 100. This work out as over 3. I have nearly 1500 total level, and 15M experience, working out at just over 2. Zezima works out at 2.6

Not perfect, perhaps not even useful, but I find it interesting.

  6. how about keeping a luck system, but having changing odds. As you kill more of the monster, or whatever, the chance increases of getting a 'rare' drop. Once you get the drop the count is reset. That way you would still have the suspense, but could be assured that by killing lots your chances are slowly increasing.

I generally have pretty atrocious luck. Apart from the two guthan's spears I got in a row  Part of that might be that I don't have the patience needed to do the same thing for hours and hours on end. I find it depressing that while I've killed hundreds already, I might get that good drop in the next 2, or the next 100, or thousand.

Also, there should be more untradeable stuff. For instance lvl 90+ slayer drops that are really, really good, and noticeable. Or have requirements on their use - eg can only be traded between those with the ability to get one themself. I wouldn't stand a chance of ever getting something like that myself of course. But I would respect those who had one because of it, instead of just respecting wealth.

  7. Mournings end part 2 is definitely the hardest for P2P. The light puzzle would have been great fun, if there were not the monsters attacking you. I'm afraid I used a guide for that simply because i can't afford to burn that many prayer pots figuring it out myself. Which is a shame because i would have liked to try to do it myself.

F2P - Dragon slayer, its the only one i died on :(

At the moment the quest I'm having most trouble on is Grim tales - Glod completely owns me :(

  8. I'm having trouble killing glod

    here are my stats

    Attack - 73

    Strength - 67

    Defence - 72

    HP - 73

    Prayer - 58

    (Magic - 76)

I've tried to kill him once, and got through all my food when he was on half health. I didn't have any prayer points left going into the battle, but I don't want to waste supplies on another attempt right now. I potted my attack up to 87, I think, but still hit 0's almost all the time.

Any advice would be helpful please.

  9. Farming I've only leveled up for quests, same with herblore. I had neglected RC, but leveled up to 54 finally in the past week.

Mining and Woodcutting I'd like to level to 70 and 75 respectively, but it would take to long (67 and 71 currently).

Construction I leveled so I could make house tele tabs, and then just stopped - costs too much for no purpose after a point.

  10. I like all suggestions except the p2p f2p general merge. It will be harder and I feel it will result in more spam from f2p players on p2p boards.

Have you seen the official forums? Frankly I don't like your elitist insinuation there. Just because someone has less money/time, or is more miserly, than us, doesn't mean that they spam or are any less intelligent.

I do see a merge as the way to go. A faster forum is neccessarily better, as more people will post, and better threads survive. I also see it as being the most contentious change. And if they don't merge, at least rename it 'General F2P'.

Can I make a request for a 'Quick Reply' option, if that is possible technically.

  11. My best day went like this.

I was barrowing, making a small profit from just the nowmal runes etc, when I got my first good drop from the chest - a Guthans spear. Since I am fairly poor, I hung onto it until I had enough money for the rest of the armor. In the maentime I went on another barrows run.

    And got another Guthan's spear!!!

So that bought me the Guthan's armor, and level 57 herblore. Now I'm poor again (Only 1M), but I have full Guthans.

  12. I really, really, really want them to open up the elven city.

The problem is, they cant really make it a sequel to mournings end pt2, because then too few people would be able to do it (from Jagexs point of view).

Since they have to cater to the average player, they are reduced in the difficulty/requirements of the quests they can do. This has been getting better recently, but a sequel to mournings end (or even roving elves) would have quite high requirements by default.

I still reckon they should do it though - maybe they'll surprise us.

  13. Wow - canafis just got busy! I was training construction just before the update, get back and its packed!

Great update though - especially as they added a quest as well - that'll shut the moaners up. The werewolves look great, as do the buildings and the people - all of whom are named

  14. I'm exactly 2 levels off all the requirements bar woodcutting, which is lvl 70 as of yesterday.

So while im a little peeved, it does give me a good reason to do a bit of training in some of my lower skills

I never figured out how to click the 'read more' link on rs main page.

just a leetle sarcastic! You might not have realised by now, but every piece of news is posted as a topic on this forum - it serves to start off a conversation.

  15. I like improvements to current skills, and good quests that continue existing quest lines - open up the elf city!!

Top of my wish list at the moment is elven furniture like in Lletya (I want that altar), and for the elven city to open up. I think I'll be waiting a while though :(

  16. In this particular instance, your equation is correct.

For a general equation it is wrong - the two [selling prices] cancel. This means that your equation is effectively:

    Profit = 1260 * buying price

If we consider the case where you buy for 100 each, and sell for 150 each

    Your equation:

    Profit = 1260 * 150 / 1.5 = 126000

    My version:

    Profit = 1260 * (150 - 100) = 63000

Now lets consider income and expenditure. You paid 126000 (1260 * 100).

    You get 189000 (1260 * 150).

    The net change in your money is (189000 - 126000) = 63000.

Therefore my equation is the correct version :-w . You just had the misfortune that, in your particular example, the two equations are equal :)

  17. 1260(bowstrings/hour)] * [200(selling price)] / [2(selling price/buying price)] = 126,000.

Are you sure about this? It works in this case, but only because your selling price is twice your buying price.

    I think it would be best to say 1260 * (200[selling] - 100[buying]) = 126000

Also, if you have completed throne of miscellania and royal trouble, you can get 1250 flax a day at about 40 each!
