About the Chicken - they do attack with mage, i've killed two of them and all i had to do to beat them was turn on protect from mage... and then wait.

when i got my first one i was fighting level 2 men in edgeville, my second one was when i was fighting dark wizards south of varrock. this mysterious old man just poped in and said "you're comming with me" and then i was teleporeted into the maze
