Went to Durabell for my 80th task, and he's given me like 53 of these things, but I know nothing about them! How to fight what to take etcetc! How does one go about slaying these? I'd skip/cancel, but I haven't got that many slayer points having bought stuff and that, so I'm looking to not skip the task if I can help it, besides I'm probably gonna have to take them on sooner or later anyway. But yeah, basically...uhh...how should I do them! My stats are in ye olde signachurrrre :) Thanks in advance!
-
I haven't seen it mentioned yet either, but I'm pretty sure stealing creation gives NO xp in game, so that'd be a very very terrible way to try and earn xp off free runes.
-
Ahhh, sorry guys, forgot my sigs waaaaaaaaaaaay out of date and no stats are in here, here's one just for you! So far, I've tried maging them with the Wave spells, that seemed to take 20 casts per demon in full mystic, so that's...kind of expensive. My second recommendation given to me was to use Guthans on them, which I'm about to try soon, then I'll try ranged, but my ranged is just dead on 70 so I didn't think it'd be too good. If I do range them, what's the best sort of setup to take with me? I've been doing everything I've been doing in the wilderness under edge, just cos it's not crowded, and easy access for my testingdings.
-
So for my 50th task from less than good ol' Duradel I have gotten 130ish Black Demons. I've never killed Black Demons before!! Whats the various options open to me for killing them, and in your opinions, the best? As it is my 50th task, money is of little limit, but I'd preferably have the most cost effective/easiest within reason method?
-
Thanks for all the replies guys, looked into it all and decided to go with the baby blacks in the chaos tunnels like some of you suggested, was indeed rather speedy and now I have a nice 75 points under my belt! Thanks for the info guys!!
-
Yeah, was gonna point out my ranged is only like 67, so I'm looking at meleeing them I think. I just don't know what the best gear is to do it in/with, what to take, any specific weaknesses etc...
-
Some of you may remember my predicament with steel drags lately and the slayer point system, after much varied advice I decided to just burthorpe and get back up to the 10th task and revisit Duradel, which I've done and he's given me....Black Dragons! My problem? I've never fought these before either! What's the best/most effective kind of setup for fighting these? I wanna get through them kinda quickish, and am open to all suggestions/ideas irrelevant of cost(though I'm not gonna go spending like 3mil on just this one task). Tell me what I need, tell me what to do! Any help and advice is very much appreciated!!

how come some items never go down in price. like these
Junkieman replied to fireside8's topic in Help and Advice
That they were also even cheaper, that's the point issue and problem. As long as trading is done through the GE the RWT isn't an issue as you can't guarantee who gets what for what. Ah, that's the 'reason' for the limits, to stop me from putting up 978 willow logs for 187gp each, something nice and precise could make it much easier for someone to 'find' my trade and get the out of proportion 'wealth transfer' that they like to refer to. However, I believe they limits should be allowed to move wider, that ceilings and floors are well out of line and just an attempt to control their economy(i have obvious suspicions as to why also), and I think it's a crappy situation that they've put to us as a saving grace under the veil of a scapegoat. I'm not saying RWT wasn't an issue mind, just saying I think they've stealthily used it to change things to their own advantage. -
Getting back into the game after a whole year
Junkieman replied to Babyshambles's topic in Help and Advice
Well as I said I only just got back into things but I have taken to doing the quests(I had to do ichtlarin's little helper first) for the Slayer Reward point system(which is actually the Smoking Kills quest). It's worth having a read up on things or on the runescape wiki. You basically get points that can help you a bit in slayer, making/buying items to make things easier, skipping tasks etc. One of the big advantages when you get enough points(which may be a while off) is making the Slayer Helmet that can let you combine pretty much all the headgear slayer items into one, which means you can get black mask bonuses on things that usually req a headslot to fight! That's my motivation for doing it, anyway :) -
Should I bother with 55 Steel Dragons...and how??
Junkieman replied to Junkieman's topic in Help and Advice
Thanks for the reply guys, I do appreciate all the help though some has seemed a bit irrelevant/redundant(telling me to range/wear black dhide, I simply said my stats were in sig to avoid providing one and being asked for another, hoping people would look at them anyway). Sounds like maging them may well be the way to go so I'll look into that(any help?? would be nicetings :D), ranging ain't much of option nor is melee, but I'd ask....what sort of cost am I looking to put out for all of this task, really? What's my best setup/option going to be, also? -

Bloody ridiculous that they insist on breaking the economy like that with floors and ceilings, absolutely no goddamn need for it and it jars me to no end that they veiled it all behind RWT, I've never seen a good official explanation by Jagex for either such tight limits(like 5% each way, limited change in a day, floors and ceilings) nor why they aren't bigger. There needs to be more range imo, and yes it *could* allow for some RWT with ridiculous kinds of trades, but they can easily build a system to flag weirdly unbalanced trades through the GE, surely? -
Getting back into the game after a whole year
Junkieman replied to Babyshambles's topic in Help and Advice
What do you like doing most in RS? Not that I'm much of one to help, as I've been in a similar boat and only just got back into things a few days ago, but slayer and the slayer points system was my first port of call. -
So I just got back in RS a few days ago(after nigh on a year away), did the quests to get the slayer reward point system thing and started doing tasks, all from Mazchna to build up some fast points, went to Duradel for my 10th task to get the big bonus points and...he gives me 55 Steels to kill. I've never killed metal dragons, always burthorped them, and now I'm wondering...should I burthorpe them then rinse repeat the process(9 tasks at Mazchna, 1 at Duradel) or should I just head down to Brimhaven Town and blapse some dragons. More importantly, if I WAS to go kill them....how do I go about it?!!!?! Never done it before lol, my stats should be in my sig if that helps things.

I see, all good points, yes I didn't mention I was ideally looking to both train it AND turn profit. I see nobody's really selling the idea of the GOP and teletabs(plus during the minigame itself), is it not worth it? As for summoning, I'm laying off that for a while I think, dunno why but just am(though consider the time it'll take to train summoning to get those things, and how much RCing could be done in said time). I was thinking more along the lines of actually training stuff, rather than familiars, but come to think of it it is pretty handy to know cos it could go hand in hand with whatever other methods there are....
-
Ok, so I've not played since April time, but very much considering getting back into RS sometime soon. There's been alot of changes since april, though! I see now there's an RC guild, and minigame(The GOP) and all sorts of things, and I was just wondering what're the most efficient/fun/not boring ways of training RC now? Is GOP worth it, are there any newer methods, what would you guys recommend? At the end of the day, does abyss crafting still win out??
-
I've not played for like....a while, as my usual rhythm goes, half a year on, half a year off, maybe more maybe less who knows. But yeah, not playing since may/april time, not properly anyway, and I see loops are like...wtf, srsly ridiculously cheap on the GE but teeth are still up there in price. Why the hell did this happened? What on earth went on? At the end of the day, are loops ACTUALLY more common than teeth? Like, can anyone back it up with some good evidence? Just curious, been chatting about it with some fellows and wondered. Ty for any light shed upon the matter!

Forum is coming back but :(

Whilst a few lost posts is still a big deal, I think it's more the awesome community THEN the content that makes Tip.It as good as it is, not the other way round. As long as this whole fiasco hasn't lost any supporters and members, I'm pretty sure the site will continue to grow for the better. -
Maybe you've hit the nail on the head right there then, maybe it's finally their solution to the problem of ever increasing super mega expensive rares, finally stopped from spiralling out of control. It's a way to make them untradeable without making them untradeable. I must have missed quoting the post by Arigold16, but he did point out at the time that 280 WAS the GE price of a nature. Maybe the following (from the Grand Exchange manual page) has something to do with this? What does the store pay for a yew long? Is it around 704gp? Jason Again, I must have missed a quote, but Arigold16 DID point out this little fact in the kbase(very scarely mentioned, only in there and not in news or tutorial for GE or anything), but as highlighted by a poster above, it totally contravenes what is said about prices being set entirely by players. What was the point of player to player trading in the first place, if everyone was happy with the prices in stores?
-
EDIT: After making this, I found Arigold16 had made an official thread on the rs forums for the topic, rather than in unbalanced trades; http://forum.[Please Use QuickFind Code].ws?15,16,204,54570977 Anyone who's read my posts in the past may already know I've been highly skeptical of Jagex and their money/economy motives for a long time, I believed cons to be nothing other than something to leech money out of the game for various reasons. I disliked the GE on release and the fact that player stock in NPC shops is tied to it(at the higher rate, may i add). Now, with the balanced trade 'system' being introduced and FORCING us to adhere to GE prices regardless, is it all one big attempt to control the economy, veiling under anti-macro/rwt techniques and summoning? Now, this is NOT really a december 10th update thread, though alot of material is releated. In fact, I'm drawing this all off another person's hard work in a thread on the official forums regarding unbalanced trades, which was made BEFORE dec 10th however. I think the recent updates(GE and Staking) and their issues have been dwarfed by Dec 10th, but they are issues to be considered nonetheless if you ask me. Anyhoo, this guy(Arigold16) has been looking at GE prices and ratios, and it seems to be that the isn't as straightforward as jagex are telling us. Maybe it's a coincidence from how they determined prices that these ratios have happened, but you can't argue with the price floors on this; Following are some quotes of posts by Arigold16, from the thread on the rs forums, found here; http://forum.[Please Use QuickFind Code].ws?15 ... 8,goto,119 I'm mainly just accumalting his efforts here, because I doubt it's a topic that'll last long on official forums, and I cannot post there anyway. I think it's very interesting, and that people might enjoy his findings/claims. If anyone knows Arigold16, tell him I said thanks, and possibly point him here. All credit to Arigold16 btw. For anyone wishing to follow the thread themselves, start at the bottom of page 119(where i found it mainly starts). Note that I have quoted these posts a bit out of order, but basically it's just some background to my topic of discussion. Do YOU think Jagex are fixing prices? Do you care if they are or not? What are your thoughts, is it coincidence, will it peter out in time? Let me know, any comments are appreciated, thanks for reading!
-
Totally, nothing quite like finding a proper bargain in the general store! A guy on the official forums(in a thread about unbalanced trading BEFORE it was actually announced), has a theory that Jagex are actually fixing GE prices too. I mean, there's no real way for us to check either, is there? Fixing prices means fixing their economy, which constantly 'deflates' and the value of money goes up over time. http://forum.[Please Use QuickFind Code].ws?15 ... 8,goto,119 Also, he points out on the next page or so;

Maybe this is a silly rant, an obscure rant lost amongst the current outcries on the current situations of the game due to today's updates, but this is something which has been bugging me since the GE came out, and nobody seems to have noticed. What am I talking about, you ask? General Stores and their player stock. Before the GE, you'd go to a store, sell stuff and the price drops as stock increases until it hits XX minimum buy/sell price. IE Coifs, you can sell for 20gp, or buy for 60gp, right? But now, with the GE, players buy/pay the higher price to get the item from the store, at the current GE base rate(currently 120gp for coifs), or the store's preset rate(in this case, 60gp is the minimum you'd buy a coif for in a general store, but likely to be more, due to a higher GE price). However, at the moment, you'd have to pay 120gp for any coifs bought in any general stores anywhere across the lands. That's twice as much! However, regardless of what the GE price of an item stands at(again, 120gp for our coif, as currently standing on the GE), the general stores will always buy for the preset(low alch) price, of 20gp. Now, coifs are fairly useless, but it's just an example. Where as before, if you sold a coif to a store then bought i back(to unnote it for example), you'd get 20gp then pay 60gp, losing 40gp. Now, you'll get 20gp, but then pay 120gp, losing 100gp! That's over twice as much, and I hardly think fair. It also totally ruins unnoting items anywhere. If I hear a cry of this being some sort of anti-bot measure, then pull the other one, cos Jagex have stretched that to a number of things, but it can hardly apply here. Now, all I'm saying is, if we are FORCED to pay higher prices for general store items in accordance with the GE, I don't see why THEY shouldn't be forced to pay US higher prices for when we sell our stock into it, I'd say make it around 2/3rds of the current GE base rate, maybe 4/5ths. Am I being petty, asking for something silly? Is it something completely non-sensical, or just plain [developmentally delayed]ed? I feel like maybe I'm picking a hole in nothing, but it bothers me. Maybe it's just my conspiracy theorist mind that thinks Jagex wanna try and siphon money from the economy where they can(after all, you buy something from a general store, and the money dissappears from the economy and game). Who knows, maybe I'm just weird. Thanks for reading, especially in the midst of the latest updates' flak, your thoughts and comments are much appreciated.

Yeah, what he said. Well, I'm quite shocked by today's update. I guess it's not closing it down, but this'll seriously piss off half the players, if not more. Personally, I'm not planning on playing again on my main any time soon given this. Why? Mainly cos of the trading thing. They say we aren't forced to use the GE, yes we are now, the reason you wouldn't use the GE? Cos of the prices, now we're tied to them regardless, even more strictly in person to person trades(3k limit, should be a % limit IMO). Also, it means all sorts of other things ruined. - Drop Parties. - As above, but giving prizes out for special events and stuff. - This impacts clan events, ideas, competitons, fansites, etc etc - Activities that involve unnoting were already ruined by the GE/shop price unbalance. - Law running. - Nature running. - Possibly air running. - Mainly, forms of running for people(ores) - Going as a group after some sort of prey, and wanting to split things evenly/selectively between parties involved. I know there's lootshare, but it's not very good. - PKing, obv. - Wilderness is actually now more dangerous, as revenants are more common, and on every world. PKers could be avoided by non-pkers. Or if you're lucky they wouldn't be there. EDIT: Reading through a thread regarded unbalanced trades BEFORE they were announced, one guy speculates that Jagex are fixing GE prices behind the scenes. I've suspected this a possibility of the GE, but we'd never be able to tell or know, but if they can control their prices, they control their economy. It's the last post on this page. http://forum.[Please Use QuickFind Code].ws?15 ... 8,goto,119 Also, he points out on the next page or so;

Haha. No, the "first" was probably fatigue. I still hear the odd person complain about it, and it's long gone to anyone who doesn't still have an active RSC account. Hell, it could be long gone to them too, for all I know. This kind of BS is a pretty standard Jagex tactic, from my perspective. They claimed the pure ess update was there to deter macroing... and the next day, not only were there essence macroes mining away, but there were loads of people talking on the TIF about how nonsensical a solution it was. Heck, the only net result regarding cheaters was that the odd macroer signed up for membership so his bot account could mine the more valuable pure essence. Backwards much? Not that they'd bother to undo the change... I'm guessing it's PR/propaganda. If they can't beat the cheaters, they can at least release a few band-aid solutions and claim the cheaters are beat. Either that, or Andrew has finally gone cuckoo for cocoa-puffs, which I've been anticipating for some time. Well the thing I mentioned before about general stores is totally unbelieveable IMO, if I had members I'd post on the forums. If this update is to our benefit, the price the store will pay should be relative to the price we can buy it for from them, i.e 2/3s of the minimum price. I remember when fatigue was introduced, it was rather annoying, but it DID actually seem like a sensible idea to solve the problem of botters, plus back then 'power' training was easier cos stuff would drop if it didn't fit in your inv. It was annoying cos you had to find a bed, but then sleeping bags solved that when they were finally released. The essence change was a stupid update, I think again they didn't like the relative profits made by people(30 per ess, nat sells for 300, you've just 'made' 270gp out of nowhere). However, if the pure ess costs 100, you're only 'making' 200gp. It WAS stupid, and it DIDN'T solve the problem at all, but what did they care? They got some extra subscriptions, which is what they're really aiming to do all the while, they're out to get our money.

I spent a month or two as a girl when Recruitment Drive came out and I never, or rarely got comments like that! Most people thought I was actually a girl til I corrected them, but I'll admit I was running around dressed like a princess half the time.
-
I can't believe this, I decided to go in game to actually check something myself, and now I am absolutely convinced of it. When you sell items to a general store, it seems their cutoff price(like 20gp for coifs), like the minimum the store pays you when overstocked, is still exactly the same! How fair is that? Why not tie these prices to the GE as well? Not only that, but the sneaky thing about this is anyone who DOES buy player owned stock from the shops, their money goes right out of the economy, it is in effect destroyed, which will probably lead to a further rise in prices(it isn't flowing around the economy, like if you buy from another player). Now, I only managed to test this with a noob woodcutter using logs/oak logs, but can anyone confirm it for me? I don't have alot of time to reasearch now. Jagex need to sort things out, they've tried to soften the blow with 'anti cheating' claims and announcement of summoning, but I don't think I'll be signing up for members again any time soon.
