  1. Jagex are not 'human beings', they're a goddamned company who make a game which we play. All of you people loving up to them, well, I feel sorry for you, because from what I've seen of the GE and staking and the changes implemented in relation to them, Jagex are doing all this to manipulate their economy to make the value of money fall. They're been sneaky with the player stock in shop change too, and made it so those items will just dissappear money from the game. Actually read some of the posts on this board, and they have some rather good reasoning behind them, rather than empty 'i know a reason but i won't tell you until you question me'. Give us your reason, if it's so good, you wouldn't need to hide behind it.
  2. It's ruined any way of unnoting things at general stores, or making use of the tons of logs wasted at general stores which could be used for fming. Also ruined getting cheaper items from general/specialist stores that would otherwsie be expensive from players. I loved to spot a bargain in a shop, but no longer will I now :( Does this mean though, that while we pay for player stock from stores at closer to the GE price, do the stores buy from us at closer to the GE price too?
  3. See? This is the sort of thing which I think is stupid too, why tie the things to the GE, or why not have it so the player gets the cheaper of the two? As I said in my own rant thread, I think it's stupid, and that they're aiming to push up prices.
  4. Good to know it's not just me then. I get the feeling sometimes like they're starting to want more and more for people to playing the game for longer and longer(which they DO, as it gets them more money), but with prices falling, it's easier for people to get their goals/achieve things/max out etc. I don't think this is the first of those attempts as I said(I feel like cons was designed to drain money out of the economy). I just read another post on here, and there was something pointed out in there that I cannot believe, the fact that jagex have no sort of anti-bot measures for signing up to accounts(verification like a number of sites have where you type letter/number combos etc). Seriously, they're trying to stop bots and they don't even have anything right at the creation process? What's the first thing a banned cheater would do? Create a new account! Absolutely unbelievable. Can you be so sure? I can't, I've said my reasoning for why I think they will, but it is just one scenario of a number of possibilities, I haven't analysed it in depth nor am I qualified to. I'm just going to have to wait and see how it goes. What happens if and when, as someone in another thread suggested, they take out individual trading and make it all GE style? How will prices go then? Another qualm I have with the GE, is if it's to facilitate easy trading, wouldn't a good idea to have it so you know who bought/sold the item you've you sold/bought, so then you could find regular buyers/sellers for items? I'd have thought that a good feature to have, but I understand you don't get anything like that at all. Can you be so sure? Some people like the people, the communities, the discussions, the memories of the game they used to play. One aspect of mmorpgs is their mmo element and their communties that form out of it, you don't have to regularly play the game to be part of them though. I don't really play atm as I said, but I keep up with goings on and stuff, the game was a big part of my days, and I've gotten to know a few people because of it too, who I still talk to despite not playing. Hell, even some of them don't play anymore, and we still talk. There's more to this than 'just a game'. The company thng was irrelevant.
  5. The grand exchange has arrived today, I just read about it on the front page after someone told me. Now, I don't play RS too much anymore, maybe 3-8 months of the year, but I've been around since the RS1 days, as a f2p noob. This rant gets to the point towards the end(money flow/economy/inflation) so bear with it while it goes through the motions. Anyway, I'm a little suspicious of this Grand Exchange, and the new Staking update, but my point is this; Why is it that every crap decision made justified somehow as if it's related to cheating? First, the shop updates recently, to help stop cheating apparently. Admittedly, I haven't played since then or even bought from a shop, so I haven't seen how it works or affected things, but I still think it's pretty silly(I understand alot of predefined shop prices rose 'to even things out'). Now onto Staking, though I never did it, has been absolutely slaughtered with this 3k per 15min limit(i actually thought it was 30k til someone corrected me). Why on earth was it changed like this? Is it just me that thinks this is a stupid idea? Like I said, I don't and never did stake, and I had some qualms with the high money flow in it(people duelling for millions), but even so, I think this is totally stupid as a solution. That's a 12k an hour limit, I could probably make that in 5 minutes elsewhere. Why is it such a stupid limit, why not 100k an hour or so, a reasonable size of money. Not only is it money limited, it's also item limited in the way of the Grand Exchange, any item worth duelling over is worth more than 12k let alone 3k. Now, the Grand Exchange is a nice idea, but I think it's been done in a poor way. Items all have base rates, which vary over time given how they're traded, and can be traded for within 5% of their price. What are the odds of people trading for 5% over the base rate versus 5% under? I reckon most sellers will be selling higher than the base rate to try and get the best deal. As more sales are made above the base rate, the base rate rises, you can see how this could lead to circling out of control. Also, I think rich people do not help at all, I'm sure you all know someone who's plenty rich and will be a ridiculous amount just to get something, much more likely to happen than a poor person paying very little for something. With this, I feel that prices will therefore be pushed even higher on the GE, and in a while everything will just be incredibly expensive(inflation, like a real economy, only no interest being earnt by people). Not only this, but now general stores(where we've all found brilliant bargains sometimes) and other stores with player sold stock, will now have their stock price also tied to the GE. Not only that, but if the GE price is lower than the predefined price, we'll have to pay the more expensive of the two. Why? Now, I thought the staking justification was dodgy, but this is even worse! Honestly, I think this is a totally insignificant line of reasoning, I honestly never ever thought of that as a way of it being done, and I doubt anyone did use it for 'covertly transferring wealth'. So in addition to the problem of prices likely spiralling out of control, and this change, I reckon soon we'll all end up paying more for everything in runescape, and stuff WILL keep on rising and rising and rising. And you know what? I think it's exactly what Jagex are hoping will happen. I don't think they like their rs economy, and for a long time have tried to try and make things more expensive. I'm no economist(except a gcse) so I won't go into all my ideas unless someone really cares. But tell me, is it just me? Am I some sort of crazy conspiracist, or does anyone else think the same? They want to rape the game's economy(well, so it's harder for us players) and keep using 'cheating' as their justification. To all those reading, thanks for taking the time!
  6. Put it in the wilderness. Let's say at level...35? 40? Of course, still allow the abyss shortcut, only you can't tele out of there, and make it so that if you came in from the abyss, you come out in a higher level of wilderness(say...50? or surrounding by stuff in a multi area?). Just a random idea really. The abyss option needs to be balanaced with it.
  7. Ok then, tyvm! I didn't know what amounts it was in and the cash to give, I'm 61 atm but it's not gonna be a big loss anyway.
  8. I've been looking since last night and having no luck whatsoever finding out any information! Basically, I was considering doing some air crafting on the themed world where there are runners, but it's been like a year+ since I last read or knew anything about it, and I'm wondering how things work these days, like what to give the runners and whatnot. Seriously, any help is very much appreciated!
  9. I just saw a rather original/clever idea on the official forums, though it might mess up your fm goal a bit. Basically someone after 99WC posted saying they were WCing on ape atoll(teaks/mahogs?) but they wanted FMers to come and burn logs, which I thought was a rather clever exchange of things-saves the WCer time, gives an FMer some free xp.
  10. Man, that IS pretty funny. This has made my day! To think I found such a classy thread just looking for some of bubsa's music! I guess it is a bit of a stupid punishment, but it might actually work, I mean I'm not saying what he did was ok, but how serious was it really? Better than wasting a cell with him for a few months. I just hope they took away his bike.
  11. I got a lava staff the other day at a party, my problem is the same as yours for the mud staff, a bit more than I'm willing to put out, I have lots of waters and earths in my bank atm anyway, and I hardly use them.
  12. No, because sadly BTP only works on normal bones. No big, dragon, wolf, bat or other special bones can be converted. Ahhh right, that half discourages me from getting the spell. Thanks for all the answers guys! I might go for it, just for the sake of having it. I dunno whether it'll be worth investing in a mud staff or not though...
  13. Is it worth getting this spell? Secondly, does the number of peaches you get vary depending on the bone? Thirdly, how long is it likely to take to get this spell? And Fourthly, how many runes is it likely to take to get this spell?
  14. Thanks for all the comments guys, I just hope it'll inspire some people. I know really it's what we should all expect to happen, but unfortunately things rarely go as we'd like them to. For anyone wondering what the edit I just made was, I actually put the numbers wrong at the end of this brilliant person's name, and I feel like he should be credited correctly for what he did.
  15. I would like to point out, he did not scam me, it was my own foolishness that caused such to happen. He in no way attempted to scam me, it was all my own fault.
  16. In the past hour, maybe even only half hour, something very peculiar and what I consider extraordinary has happened. I am shocked and touched by it, and very glad to see there is still some respect between players left in runescape. Let me set the scene...twas a dark and lonesome night! Well no, it was about midnight, just turning 21st july 2007(not a harry potter story). I, Junkieman608, am currently in a competition in my clan called Skill Battle, over the course of a week the entrant who gains the most XP in one skill wins the prize fund, made up of entrance fees. This week, it is cooking, and I have been turning to sharks as my secret weapon. I get home from a night out(alcohol free though) and come on rs, to see how I stand in the competition. There's two days left, so I think 'I should get some sharks so I can take first place with a swift motion'. I am second currently buy 600k xp, but my main opponent can only cook lobsters you see, so for every 4000shark I cook, he must cook 7000lobs to stay level. So, I make a post on the official forums, as you do, buying raw sharks. There's alot of offers coming in over the private chat, 3 in fact, one guy selling 1k, one guy selling 365, and another selling 500. I speak to the 500 guy first, cos the 1k guy isn't online, then he is, I've made the promise to meet the 1k guy his place and world, but anyone under 1k must come to my place and world. 1k guy came on halfway through my chatting with 500 guy, so I go to meet him in Seers and buy before I lost the chance of 1k raw sharks, and by time I change worlds and start running, 500 guy is on my world(new one, I PMed him before switching thinking he'd take his time) and in Catherby bank, where I agreed to meet. I PM him telling him I have to run to Seers quick, and that I'll brb in catherby. When I return to catherby, I find 500guy AND 365 guy there, I'm doing quick maths in my head, I'm tired after an evening out. I trade with 500 guy first as I punch the numbers of 365x950 into my calc, I mean, 950x500 is simple maths right? However, I made a fatal mistake. Combine it all with RS's lack of M sign for millions bellow 10, and you can imagine what happened. I wanted the trade done quick, so that I did not keep 365 guy waiting, so I clicked accept after seeing his sharks were raw and of the right amount, and then on the second screen after the same checks too. Of course, I didn't check my OWN side, as I would be confident it was correct. However, 500 guy was taking his time, I assumed he was punching numbers to verify things, I thought it futile to check my own side, I mean, I glanced at it, but didn't think to check it(i'd already accepted anyway), as I offered it with full confidence it was right. 500 guy accepted, and I started the trade with 365guy, suddenly a fear swept over me, a proper fear, one I've rarely felt. I then hurried through the trade with 365 guy, eager to clarify whether I'd made the mistake I thought I had. I hurried, but cautiously, given my mistake was on my mind. I checked my inv, I checked my bank. I had made the mistake. I had just given 4.5mil for a 450k sale, that's a smooth 4mil loss my friends. I immediately PMed this guy, 500 guy, I said something along the lines of 'Plz' something I despise heavily yet in my frenzied and anxious state time was of the essence to my mind, and it thought of 'Plz'. I told him I'd given him too much, then asked 'Please, give it back'. I waited... 'Hell no!' was the response. 4million down the drain in a flash. I had nothing to say, I was not going to beg and plead, it was a lost case already. I simply messaged him saying something along the lines of 'Well, I hope you feel big about yourself.' and removed him from my list. I was in some IRC channels for my clan at the time, an older channel and the newer clan channel, one of the people in the older clan channel(i discovered the clan a year ago, through some other gaming forums i post on) is a girl who has played and quit rs a few times. She had a drop party once, I attended and got a d chain, though I didn't know her too well and said if she ever played again she could have it back. She did start again a few months down the line, but my word is my word, and it was no loss to me really, so I gave it back. She quit again recently, though I was inactive at the time. She tried to make me feel better(i'd sworn alot over the two channels), though I insisted I didn't want her money, and I wasn't that cut up about it as it was my own fault. I think I was trying to lie to myself, it's serious money for me, 4million gp. So, she came on, and offered to give me what she had left, like 940k and 2000 nats, to make me feel better. I kept refusing, but she convinced me. So, I had to tele from catherby to lumby, as she's f2p, and hop to an f2p world to get it. As I was there, on world 29, I got a PM from 500 guy, because of course my chat was still set to 'On' from the shark trades(so anyone can pm me with offers). He was asking if I had 475,000. I asked 475,000 what, and he said 475k. I said 'Yeah.' He said he would trade me 4750k for 475k, I said 'Ok...' because I knew it was gonna be another scam, I'd willing forked over money when he wasn't trying to scam me, he'd refused to give it back, and so he probably thought he could take me for more, or just plain mug me off and rub it in. I asked where he was, and he said catherby still. I wanted to let him scam me, so I could report him and get him for real, so I took out my 5 airs, and 1 law, then hopped back to his world, then tele'd and ran there. I found him, green dot hidden under a white, and he initiated the trade. I offered my 475k, and he offered back...4750k. I was ready with the report button, in case he tried the quick swap on the second screen. To my surprise, he didn't, so I accepted, knowing he was gonna do the old 'decline on the second screen' to rub it in my naive face. However, the window disappeared, I checked my chatbox, it said Accepted Trade. I checked my invent, it had 4750k in it. He said he felt guilty for how he acted, I gave him 50k for his general decency. After this intense 45 minutes, I was amazed, I was relieved, I was quite literally touched, and now; I Have Faith. One of my clan members commented earlier in the fiasco that people are too greedy these days, the girl I mentioned told how she'd done the same thing, but the other guy had been decent enough to give it back(which pissed me off at the time, as this guy had not). But now, I have faith in runescapers, that was an easy 4million he could have had, it walked right into his inventory, yet...he gave it back. He did the right thing, and for that, I am very glad, and very happy, and very touched. It partly goes beyond runescape for me, to know if people can do that in an online game...well, it's just good things! Anyway, I dunno if this last bit will get edited due to policy, but I would like to say my thanks to, and hope that everyone here, can be a little more like the guy who gave me some faith, Flameboy162. (P.S, I started writing this half hour ago, and as for the stuff that girl gave me, I gave it back seeing as I got back what I'd lost)
  17. Thanks for the suggestions guys, they've given me some food for thought. A couple asked about my budget and whatnot, really, my main aim is to have a trimmed skillcape, and my budget is as low as possible.
  18. This is more an advice thread that it is a help thread, and it's a simple thread posing a simple question. What should I get 99 in? I'm definitely gonna get 99 cooking soon, but I'd like to get a trimmed cape, half for the the trim and half for the prayer bonus. The question is however, what should I take to 99? My current levels/stats should be up to date in my sig, I'm currently torn between a few options. Ideally, something fast/easy/cheapish, either that or something that'll take longer but won't be too boring/fun enough to keep me interested. Also, if you suggest a skill for me to train, please explain why(is it easy, fast, cheap, fun etc).
  19. Ahhh, all right then guys, thanks alot for all the info, it's very much appreciated! I think I'll go hang out at the cave horrors for a while, they sound like they're good money.
  20. It sounds to be a pretty rare drop then, how about the bonuses, does anyone know?
  21. I remember making a topic about this sometime last year, my vote then was to keep it forever, and it still would be today. A gesture like that is worth alot more than the pixels you could get by selling it. Not quite a phat, but similar happened with a dchain, though I gave it back to my friend because she started playing again.
  22. Does anyone know the sort of drop rate of black masks from cave horrors? Also, I know it gives a +15% bonus to attack and strength on slayer tasks, does that bonus stack with things like attack and str pots?
  23. Title is pretty self explanatory, but I was wondering today. If I was to use a salamander on magic attack but wearing like full metal armour, would I hit less, or is it the same regardless of what you're wearing?
  24. I played BA for the first time yesterday, and liked it alot, but it's hard getting like a team together and all that(guys I went with arent all around right now). So anyway, my question is, is there a world that people go to to find people to play barbarian assault with, and what is it?
  25. thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated. im gonna kill slimes in lumbridge caves for now.
