If you value your security, don't buy Sony BMG cd's...
DaN replied to Necromagus's topic in Off-Topic
Sony BMG will be reciving a nasty phone call from me within the next couple of days. I didnt get infected but a windows machines on my network did I might see if I can claim compensation for the time it took me to track the rootkits down and manually remove them from all 6 windows machines. I have nothing on my agenda for the next few months so I may aswell try -
Thanks ill check it out. Just trying to workout how to install thing ATM  EDIT: Ok I found APT thing hannibal mentioned and without knowing what I was doing I now have GAIM installed. Very nice 8)

You should try Linux b4 switching.

Its not real No ones going to give you close to a terabyte of storage for a once off free of $20 I suspect a scam.

i will say this though... linux's main problem to being a adoption is that its still too geeky to be mainstream it still does not have all the api calls.... it needs to feel like windows out of the box... no multiple desktops.. no power user setup Also they need to get together and settle on one MAJOR kernel update ever 5 years... make patches and the like but make one MAJOR version of linux and you can have all the flavors you want in the background but have ONE JUST ONE "linux" install.. this would be a base code setup for the swell person (like most of us are) and have a basic update system setup make it easy to use easy to manage but have the power user options just put in the back for those that want to learn ..... it needs to be simple boot up and run ........... i think its almost there.. its just lacking something that can make it easy to adopt That would unfortunatly turn Linux into Windows. Anyway as soon as people disagree they all go their own way again. Linux has really come along way in the last few years I belive it is the future of computing. The fact that it is not owned or contorolled by a single corporation but by the community that uses it will help its increasing popularity. I think open source software is the path to the future. Not to mention just about any Virus 8)

You can use wmware to host a vitural windows machine then run the games inside the virtual machine ;)Altho technically it would be windows running the game.so would i be able to run everything that runs on windows with it?i dont care about speed and also do i need anything for me to install linux other than the cds so will i need an adapeter? Depends on what you mean by everything you run on windows. Most things you want to do (word processing, web browsing, instant messaging, multimedia, image editing, etc) will run just fine, or even better, for free. You could always partition your harddrive and run both for a while (I think.) Like Cameron says most things you do in windows can be done in Linux. I should point out tho that you maynot beable to run the same applications (unless there are Linux versions avalible) for example your not going to run MicrosoftOffice on Linux instead you can use OpenOffice.org wich is a perfect replacement for msoffice and has both linux and windows versions (Windows users might want to check it out aswell, i highly reccomend it)

SO we lose our right/ability to use a phone for private convosation?! The only reason to use a phone over other methords is for privacy.

But this is rare, after the London underground bombing on July 7th, the next day everyone carried on as normal. And even if we did live in fear because of terrorism, this isn't the same as actually "supporting" terrorists. England did carry on as normal, but america didnt I saw on the news Swat teams were deployed all over the place. Even here in Australia in the most remote city in the world we had techtical response teams deployed at our train station. then in england an innocent man was shot by the police. Bonus points for the terrorists I guess... THose of you who say "youve got nothing to hide..." thats stupid I DO have things to hide, Dosent anyone with some sort of life have things they might hide? If you have nothing to hid feel free to email your msn chat logs to [email protected] Hey youve got nothing to hide so prove it.

Last year some kids threw an egg at my car and ran off into the park. They obviously though no one would be stupid enuth to drive into the park after them! I sure showed them

What many people here hail to realise is the the goal of terrorism is to disrupt our lives and we freely assist them by doing so.

I HATE city 4x4's that womans a moron. im getting a 4x4 soon and it sure as hell isnt going to be a city 4x4. Whats the point in a 6liter engine? I dont see why any 4x4 needs an engine of that size, and why she things a 4x4 is safer because its simply not 4x4 crash HARD and roll easyer than a normal sedan.

A new idea. Circular saw blades make a deadly fressbe :D mayb thats going to far.

DONT ASSUME THINGS YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT! It really [cabbage]s me I lost a friend but I dont let that be a part of my life I even returned for a holiday when many other people choose a life of fear. Just because your afraid dosent mean everyone else is Why should I have my rights infringed on because you live a life of fear? EDIT: And who was it that said If you run your quilty?!?! Thats just moronic, If someone runs towards me ill run the other way be pretty stupid to just stand there
-
So will you give me access to your msn logs since it dosent matter if someone else sees them?

Im sick of the whole 9/11 thing. "The day the world changed" No the world hasnt changed because of just ONE incident! I blame bush for kicking up so much fuss if bush gets assasinated I will set up a website proclaiming victory to his assasin.

This is getting stupid I hate my officialy country its a nation of cowards. In Australia there is a new law allowing the police to hold you for 14days at their will without charging you with anything. Theirs also a shoot to kill act coming out soon wich will allow the police to shoot suspected terrorists who run from them. (who dosent run from the police?) now there is talk of phone tapps (the police already have our sms) and even voIP calls being tapped. What ever happened to privacy I dont care about terrorism Its not apart of my life. Why are people supporting terrorists? After the london bombing I hear that many americans canceled flights to england. WHY? support terrorists by doing exactly what they want? I say to the world STOP HIDING UNDER YOUR BEDS! and can the stupid terror laws there [cabbage] and are assisting the terrorists to disrupt our way of life
