  1. So tell me, are hunters always top Dps by a long shot, or am I awesome? (Or both?) On our 10man Naxx run the other night, I was top dps by about 5% (me doing around 19% of the total dps, and the next closest doing about 15% of the total dps).

Btw, is 2700dps on patchwerk a decent entry level dps?

    Hunters <3:<3:

  2. Guild downed four bosses in Naxx two nights ago (two on construct, two in military) even though our dps was shameful (I was around 2700 on Patchwerk and top dps for both the fight and entire run). Not one piece of mail the entire run. I might add this was my first actual Naxx run, and I'm not very well geared. Mostly heroic blues with three or so heroic purples. Although yesterday a guildie made me a pair of Giantmaim Legguards so I've got those now.

  3. Guild just downed Sartharion on our first ever attempt (excluding the fact that we wiped 3 times attempting to down her). I got nothing, and the hunter glove token didn't even drop, but it was fun none the less. Just my luck, we decided to run Vault, and just as we were getting there, we lost WG. Now you have to understand alliance ALWAYS has WG on my server. 9/10 hours I'm on Alliance has it, so you can imagine I was pissed we lost it the one time we actually needed it.

    EDIT:

I heard there was going to be a "Normal" and "Hard" mode in the new dungeons in addition to the current Normal and Heroic modes. Is this still going to be true?

  4. Assuming you were talking to me..

I could usualy get past the mobs without aggroing, but in the event that I did aggro, I usual aggroed quite a bit. In that case I would either AoE them down before opening the door, or Explosive shot/Multishot them down while using explosive trap and disengage. After I was inside I simply attacked the first boss, killing him in about 4 shots and then set another explosive trap and used volley until they were dead. The entire fight depends on how soon you can get the trap and AoE down. The mobs die fairly quick but since you're fighting 50+ people at once, if you don't kill them fast enough, you'll die. I think I used volley three times before they were dead. After that the priest lady comes out and stuns you (not sure if you can use a trinket here) and you have to watch her rez the first boss guy. Then you can just slaughter both the bosses at once.

Overall I think I was averaging 4 minutes per run from the time I entered the instance to the time I exited it (this includes health/mana regen downtime). Do this five times (reset limit) and you have 10 radiant shards from blue drops in just under 20 minutes. At 25 gold each, thats 250g in a third of an hour. Shame you can only reset the place 5 times (or was it four?).

    Edit:

DK at 67 but I'm nearly out of quests at nagrand. I really don't want to go to Netherstorm/SMV... Might just go to northrend a level early.

  5. Pro WoW speedrunner here >_>

Entire SM cath start to finish, 1 pull in 2 minutes 43 seconds. That includes killing the bosses and every single mob (save for the boss guy hidden away in the corner). Man my roomate is lucky that I want his priest up quick.

That's easy. I did it on my hunter four or five times to get radiant shards for firey for my twink (until I found out crusader was 10x better). Shame you can only reset the place 4 times per 2 hours or something.

  6. I tested until I ran out of mana.

Ok, if I do that I would have been at almost 1700 dps the previous test. This test I would have been at 1840.

Conclusion: Rotation is better with Arcane Shot.

  7. Well first of all my pet sucks majorly. I was Just serpent sting and spamming steady shot, but that isn't the best rotation since hunter nerfs. Also, I wasn't using any trinkets (which are very low leveled anyway) or rapidfire. Other than that, idk what else I can do. My spec is good. How long was your test, because that makes a huge difference. I didn't use any potions or anything either, and the only buffs were my aspects. And when I said burst dps I meant over 20 seconds. If I just did a 30 second test, my dps would be over 1700. This is because I have to have Aspect of the Viper on for 20 seconds every minute, which translates to a 15%+ loss in dps.

I'm trying this with a different rotation, and then with a different pet. I'll post the results.

  8. Blizzard seem to be [bleep] up royally more and more often now. Diablo 3 and SC2 have gone from "OMGWTFNAO!!!" to "meh.. maybe" on my scale of wantedness.

Diablo 3 is still top of the list for most people I know. I'm not sure I know what you mean.

I saw the post a few pages back about the guy whose account wasn't off trial status... When you buy the game online, it can sometimes take a day or two for it to become active. When I tried to buy it online, my credit card got [bleep]ed, and locked me out since I usually don't buy stuff like this. I tried again not knowing this, and finally when I called the credit card company and had them let the payment go through, blizzard had locked me out for to many failed tries. Ended up buying the retail copy. (Good idea seeing as I got TBC at a discounted price.

Anyway, with almost all blues from level 80 and a few from heroics, I'm at about 1450 dps unbuffed against a level 80 dummy sustained over 3 minutes. I can burst upwards of 2300dps. This is BM specced (my build is fairly good). Gunna try a different rotation and then respec. See what gets me the highest dps.

  9. And this is the one thing I hate about this game. The people. I'm getting a group together for H Nexus, and I say "LF capable tank then g2g" some guy whispers me saying "I can tank". So we get to the instance. First fight and he can't keep aggro. My pet dies (out aggroed him with growl off) and our warlock dies. We rez him. Next fight. A mage and the two dog things. He loses aggro again, and the dog attacks another guy. The only reason our spriest doesn't die is because my pet manages to offtank it. Next fight, is versus one guy. The only death is my pet, which out aggroed him again. Next fight is versus three guys. The tank keeps aggro on one guy. I get attacked by the second, so I feign. The archer guy attacks our healer, and my pet manages to keep it stunned long enough for us to kill him, and then onto the guy our tank was able to hold. Next battle is the boss battle. I say "Ok, boss battle, hold on." Tank goes into combat. I say "Here is the plan:" Tank pulls. We wipe, I feign. I say "What the [bleep] man?" No response. "This is [cabbage]". I leave party.

    I hate morons.

  10. First of all, my spec might need a little bit of work, but couldn't make a difference over 100 dps. My hunter rotation is great. Serpent Steady > Steady Shot. I am always top or second dps. I have boots from questing, a cloak from questing, and a sword from questing. All three blues, and from level 80 quests at that. I have the blue hunter LW legs and shoulders. I have a belt from a normal level 80 instance. I have a helmet, chest, two rings (one epic) and a pair of gloves (also epic) from heroics. I have a good sword and decent weapon from argent crusade rep rewards. Overall my gear isn't great, but it is defiantly suited for heroics. I should be around 2000 dps by the time I've replaced my level 80 questing blues and non heroic gear as well as respecced and got a new pet.

I still don't see how you can get 3k+ dps with non raid gear.

I can tell you right now an Enh Shammy can not pull 3k dps in a heroic with nothing more than heroic gear. Of all the Enh Shaman I've grouped with, few have gone over 1200dps. The skilled ones might do 1350 max. Your friends are either lieing or only talking about burst dps.

By the way, at level 75 1100 dps is possible while killing guys your level, but if you go into a level 80 instance (not heroic) you won't do above 500dps.

  11. @ Nardil and thomas

u should be aiming for at least 2.2k dps as hunter in blues and greens during heroic

If i put all i have to action i do 3.2k in a heroic with NO raid gear- only heroic gear

    and 2.5 on my mage

    ----

1.1k dps at lvl 70 is shameful honestly - not trying to put u down but thats what my mage did in Pre TBC endgame

Are you insane? (no pun intended)

I just checked recall from last night's heroic, and I was doing around 1500dps the last instance I ran, which was H VH.

I have yet to see a single person break 1800 dps in a heroic (mages using blizzard excluded). I don't know where you're getting your numbers, but 2.2k is not what you should be aiming for, because you will not achieve it. Your damage meters must be off. If you go on trade chat and ask what dps you should be aiming for in heroics, you'll get the same response. Between 1300 and 1600. I can not in a rightful state of mind accept that you can do 3.2k dps in a heroic instance with no raid gear.

  12. They only people I know who do 1800+2000 dps in heroics are people naxx geared who are running them. I'm usualy at the top of the list, and, depending on the instance, get between 1400 and 1600. And the latter is tough. I would have to AoE Volley and Explosive trap half the instance, and then it would still be tough without 4+ mobs. I'd say 1250 is a good starting number.

  13. Same reason why im glad they nerfed lifebloom for just druids in general nevermind resto, kinda monotnous keeping youre three hots going with no real burst casting required.

That's bad news for me. For a while there I was only taking druids as healers because they were doing so much better than any other class.

Healadins need some buffs though. They really can't heal for crap atm.

    hey yo stigg

Bosskillers is crap i tried to spend work today reading up on all Wotlk bosses...

Theres no guides at all on Bosskillers

where can i read tactics? the only site ive ever needed in Pretbc and PreWotlk is Bosskillers but now

    SUCKS lulz

    http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:Bosses

  14. Anybody have any idea when the new patch (3.0.8) is coming out? I can't stand BM much longer. Serpent Sting > Steady Shot > Steady Shot > Steady Shot > Steady Shot > Steady Shot > Steady Shot > Steady Shot

    repeat

And of course use trinkets, and BW when they're up. So.. boring.

  15. I'm currently trying to get exalted with stormwind so I can get their mount. I've been doing low level quests for the rep and I'm just over the half way point between exalted and revered. I've already cleared all of the duskwood, westfall, and thereamore quests. Probably going to go finish off the quests left in redrige, ellywin forest, southshore, the couple I can do in Stranglethorn Vale, and The Arathi Highlands tonight. My current character is a level 45 Dwarf Hunter on HellScream.

That's why you never quest in your own starting zone.
