  1.

Ok then mr "def is useless past 85" why not gimme a pm on here when you're on RS and see how useless my 99 def is against whatever stats you have?

I don't find anything useless about being able to tank things and take hardly any hits, however if you wish to show me how useless def is then go right ahead.

    [/rant]

If you hadn't gathered by now from above in my opinion it would be defence. Defence allows you to get hit less and therefore you waste less money on supplies and stuff like that. Seeing as you're getting 99 str it'll probably be more advantageous to get def for things like armoured zombies and stuff..... at about 70 def i was having to use about 8 monkfish a run along with a yip..... at 92 def i could survive as long as i wanted to really..... half the time i didn't really need the

    yip out.

At the end of the day it's only personal choice, it's up to you. I chose def for the challenge of the cape and the fact that in a sense it makes getting attack and strength easier to get...... just think about all the time spent eating on RS ;) I dare say everyone has missed alot of exp or killing a monster quicker if they have to eat.

Also please ignore my bias *hides def cape* ;p but tbf, it is one of the best combat stats to get to 99, and the cape looks awesome <3

It may be useful if you are farming monsters or for slayer.

But for end game boss... offensive stats is much more useful as boss will hit you no matter you have 110lv defence or only 80.

Just learnt my lesson from Nomad today. The faster you can kill a boss, the less damage you have to take, or you will be running out of supplies.

  2. Cant beat him :( . Got him down to 1/4 everytime but only have like 2-4 brews left and just cant dish out enough damage to finish him.

I can 100% dodge his mines and the 75 attack, but I just cant take him down fast. Usually I have to eat around 10 ice barrage + hp-1 combo before get him down to 1/4.

My inventory is 1bgs for spec, 1zs for the last 1/4, 10 normal restores (run out of super restores, ge wont sell), rest + war tortorise is brews (dont know why brews can still be bought fast in ge even now).

I use sap mage during the encounter.

    Gear:

    neitz helm

    glory

    black d hide set

    ranger boots

    barrows gloves

    ava's accumlator

    rune c'bow

    blessed spirit shield

    diamond ring (i)

    ruby (e) botls

EDIT: Killed nomad finally, pretty much the same setup except a bought a super attack and a ddp++ instead of bgs. Close call though, only 1.2 brews left.

In fact I run out of restore pots first, the killing blow is actually done by the war tortoise -.-

  3. Someone tell me I'm not the only one who had a harder time with the Avatar of Decay than the Nomad. Avatar of Decay took me three tries and forever, Nomad I got on my first try with like 15 Rocktails. =(

Maybe nomad is easier for a 99 everything like you. For me, Avatar is just sit behind the corridor (safe spot) and shoot. You dont even have to destroy roots (it only spawn 3 times).

Nomad is intense as we low levels, we have to kill him before our brew runs out. We dont have top level BoB and we hit lots of 0s.

  4. Im at 110 combat, with 75 range and mage, 80+ other combat skills, i have access to MOST equipment excluding godswords.

Im not looking for things with rare amazing drops, but something a little less rare that still rakes in items i can easily sell and make a good bit of change, Ive heard avansies are good, but ive been away from RS for awhile, so are there any other suggestions?

By most equipment, I guess you mean a dragon dagger p++, a rune crossbow, a lava/air staff, anicent/void staff, whip, saradomin sword(or eventually switch to bandos gs) and zamarok spear?

  5. I wouldn't say highest herb you can--you should go for the herb that makes the most money. Currently the best herb to plant is snapdragon. Avantoe and ranarr are pretty close in terms of profit as well.

The fastest way to train farming (and it can be ridiculously fast) is to plant trees and fruit trees regularly. It's up to you how much you want to spend; the higher-level trees you plant, the faster it'll be and the more expensive it'll be.

But his farming is only 38...

I think you should grow harralander, seeds are cheap, you can obtain red spider eggs fairly easily, or chocolate bars (-> dusts) from RFD Chest. If you don't mind spending as you stated, (TheLeonardo's suggestion) prayer potion is pretty nice, you can grow some of the ranarr and buy others.

For farming, as troacctid stated, highest level fruit tree and tree you can grow can give really fast experience.

Highest level tree is crazy money drain. Dont go anything more than willow/maple unless you are really rich.

Highest fruit tree is fine as they always need 1day to grow.

  6. I got myself a bronze hasta and made karmbaji or however it's spelled poison, and coated it. And I can't poison anything. Tried on yaks, on people in arena - Nothing.

Does (kp) work? Should I try with poison ++?

I am testing this because I want to compare between KP and P++ poisons so I decide what is better and what poisons faster. Thank you

Try test it on trolls. Trolls are weak to poison.

  7. get at least 70def for guthan and other barrows armour...

I'd suggest not using Guthans at your melee levels, you'd spend far too long trying to get a heal and wasting prayer points(which isn't productive considering your prayer level.) Veracs skirt&helm with a few brews really is the best for you, in my opinion at least!

He cant use guthans anyway without 70attack and defence.

When I first Jad (by that time we dont have nice bolts but have to bring 2 crappy crystal bows in), I was 77att, 76str, 76def, 74ranged, 55prayer, 79hp.

Guthans method is the "safer" way, because all we need is 2 brews and 2 super restores. It usually end with more prayer pots at Jad ,compared with the veracs method. You dont have to subsistute prayer pots for more brews.

The main damage from fight caves is the lv9x ranging guys, thats the only time when guthans come in.

  8. Herb Calculator

This is usually correct, but can be behind on current prices. And it has energy pots as the cheapest gp/xp not including untradeable ingredients.

Have to look at GE as well. Just cant be lazy.

Price trend is important, if you start stocking something which is dropping (like prayer potion now), by the time you have finished your potions, the price difference maybe greater than you may expected.

  9. I know most of the items r rising, and if jagex doesn't make any update for it, they are likely not going 2 crash. But I notice that some items like arma chest/skirts aren't rising for around 2 weeks already, some other items like gold ore, oak logs, rune are crashing, any1 know why?

Is it because of the coming new skills that everyone are waiting for? Just a normal price update? Or due to some recent updates? I really want to know why since I am going to buy some of them to train my skills.

    thank you

I dont think most items are rising. Lets say it this way, popular items are rising. If you want buy something to store your wealth, try expensive weapons like whip, gs or combat consumables.

Btw, if you expect something is going to drop, you should avoid buying the item but to keep a close eye on it everyday for signs of recovering.

If the item stays flat, either you wont get a trade or it worth buying for your current task.

Did oak and rune really crashed?? Runes looks pretty stable to be and oak... it is still the way to train construction.

Gold is crashing because of living rock like the guy above have said.

Oct7, Oct26 and Dec15 are the recent big dates that really shocked the market. Oct 7 herb update, almost everything else go crashing except herb and seeds go shocking. Oct 26, the pretty usless anti-76k measure which did nothing. Dec15, the more recent one, ancient curses and tzhaar changes make dragon bones and fury go up.

  10. Also since the herb level is 6 levels above 59 you should probably train to at least 61 or 62, a +6 boost from a spicy stew is hard enough to get, but to keep it at that level during the dialogue would be near impossible. As for leveling you could put MTK workers on herbs and make pots out of the stuff you get, assuming you've done the quest of course...

You only need the level to start the dialogue. Just quickly munch a garden pie after you have the level and talk with the guy.

If the time need for getting the stew for that level < the time you need to make the money for the level+ the training time you need for the level, why not?

  11. I'm now also in university and I have to say I barely have time to play. I quit my membership because otherwise I'd waste too much time at runescape. I'd say you should quit until your first exams to see how well you're doing. You can still start again if they were very good :D

I'd say the other way around. If you can manage to get good grades with rs running, then go on. Or else, just forget about rs.

Yes, university life may be busy, but I can still have time for questing, weekly penguins or an occational pvp. But I dont think first year is really that busy anyway, the horror comes after first year.

I got 94 magic by wind strking spiders for preparing last year's mid term exam and 99 defence from badits for preparing for last year's final.

Now I am back in bandits for this year's mid term.

RS in fact stop me from playing some even more addicting faceboo.. *cough* games *cough* by occupying my computer resources.

You were an RC pker? We dont really RC pk now, we rush people with claws outside GE. However, if you do come back, I would recommand you to buy a pair of dragon claws and try bounty +1 worlds to see how pk now works.

  12. God wars and dks are basically killing kq hoping for chain, chance are if your luck are down, you lose money on supplies. (Can be over 9000 per hour or going negative...)

Aviansies are a way to train range and make a bit money (around 300k-ish/hour). They drop noted addy bar, which you collect and sell them, alch the other drops.

The main money making way is still good old green dragon killing and sell their bones. (500k/hour now?)

The new way of making money is camping GE and merching stuff, I dont really know how to do that.

Dont forget to get this http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=manage_thy_kingdom.htm up and running again. It gives 1mil+ for 15min of chopping trees, resupplying coins and selling stuff to GE each week.

  13. They have been more profitable than ranarrs every day I have checked for the last two months -- until today, when ranarr seeds just happened to drop to the lowest price they've been in a couple of months.

Ranarr seeds are also frequently merchanted up to ridiculous prices.

On the whole, snapdragons are routinely the most profitable herb to farm. I know -- I track these things.

The problem with snaps is it hardly moves, both seed and herb.

I dont farm everyday but I do farm herbs per week after penguins, I do calcualte carefully before going to myarm's patch. I never find myself buying snap seeds.

Since the herb change in early October, kwarm and avantoe get the upper hand alternately.

Edit: I use the formula herb*5-seed cost, different formulas might be the reason of our different conclusions.

  14. personaly i dont find it worth buying... this because 2k casts isnt really a lot while slaying or training... and after 1k casts ist even worst then a r xbow...

Well I was planning on using it more for boss hunting like dks because I'm using a 2h weapon anyway.

Not sure about 90+ ranged, but for my level, boss seems to prefer more attack bonus than anything, which crystal fails...

Why do you want to use it anyway?

  15. Snapdragons, period.

    Check GE period.

I dont even know why the original poster have to limit himself into only rannar or snaps...

There are minor fluctuations in prices that change the equation on a daily basis. But overall, snapdragons are nearly always better than ranarrs for money, and are always much better for XP.

I aggree with the exp part but they are not always more profitable, not even most of the time.

Snaps are almost always the poor choice if you are going purely for money.

  16. I'm kinda bummed out about taking off my skill cape. I feel that making us take off our capes was completely unnecessary. The event could proceed without taking off the cape.

Not sure whats the reason of "ghost dont wear capes". Ghosty robes from desert treasure mini quest included a cape as well.

By the way, the storyline sounds familiar, anyone remember what jagex referencing at?

  17. Because sharks arent the best way to train cooking? monkfish or lobbies tend to be better.

Plus all you need is an influx of fishers so raw shark supply > raw shark demand

Lobster? Hell no, their difference between cooked and raw means you are losing money fast.

Monkfish isnt that great either, consider you can burnt some of them.

Sharks is the best and is now a even better cooking option.

  18. MTK is a guaranteed profit if you've done Throne of Miscellania and Royal Trouble

And yeah, definitely farm ranarrs and try runecrafting nats

    This.

You should get your kingdom running again first. Finish the related quests and check manage thy kingdom guides.

It is getting free 1 mil for 15min of chopping trees and selling stuff to GE per week.

Just remember to keep 1 mil in coffer (or 2mil if you check per week).

  19. Jad will heal regardless of where the healers are, but his self healing abilitys are limited, and diamond e bolts, or even broad bolts can take him down fairly easily (I know cos I killed him last night with broad bolts for my 8th fire cape)

Make sure all the healers are lured AWAY from Jad, and keep pounding him, your damage will outweigh his own healing abilities :)

Yea, it is possible with the new weapons we have now, shhh... we used to kill him slowly with 2 crappy crystal bows.

If you dont want to target the healers one by one, get some chincompas, grey will do.

  20. I'm sorry, but doesn't it make sense that if you're playing a game, you should actually be there playing it?

No, you're right, jagex can't force you to sit in one place for hours. That's why they made a "log out" button.

Do your training yourself, don't go the cheap way and afk train. It takes away all the fun of achieving something. If you don't like grinding, then you've picked the wrong game to play.

EDIT: Also, I don't believe you were just innocently talking with your friends and got all of those mutes. You were most likely breaking some rule, otherwise you wouldn't have been reported in the first place.

The "fun" part of the game requires you to be "lv120+" or "ags needed, no noobs". Have a look at rsof clans recruitment or events.

  21. Which is better? I seem to get the same amount of experience from each, but I'm taking less damage from Bandits than Spiders.

A lot more Spiders means less time to wait for respawn, but the world can get crowded fast (for instance, I found a completely empty world but within 20 minutes there were 5 other people there).

I was doing well at Bandits, not having to heal with Guthans once or use a monk (Enchanted Excalibur ftw!) A big pro is that if you can find an empty spot, generally nobody will disturb you (though earlier a 116 tried to kick me out of the world LOL).

Also, is Guthans even worth using at this point? I don't have enough cash to afford a BCP and tassets, and don't feel like getting a Torso. Would Void Melee work fine here, with only 80 Defense (also have Excalibur spec)?

For less competition, try using the spots outside (purple dots), not inside the tents.

    spots.th.jpg

Enchanted excalibur spec alone should be fine, but do bring along your guthans in case when you get unlucky.
