  1. I like the free trade, but the wildy is going to suck hard for clues now... :( Revs were cake compared to PKers.

Weren't clue scrolls supposed to be challenging?

    Challenging, yes. Suicide, no.

because clue scrolls were impossible before they removed wilderness pking....

How could dropping your spade, sextant and turn protect from melee + protect items on when attacked is impossible?

I dont think you can get 1 shotted that easily during those days, best they got is an ice barrage + dragon dagger specs.

Anyways, we already have bounty worlds, what do they mean by "bringing wildness back"?

I stilll vote for yay anyway, I would prefer freetrade in terms of GE and assist system, not that good old direct trade.

  2. Don't the trade limits stop people with enough money to buy complete monopoly of an item? Or do you figure that it's so pointless that no-one would consider doing it?

You cant really completely monopolise in GE no matter how much money you got, regardless there is a trade limit or not.

The only way you can monopolise an item is to buy up the product or its material's suppliers, which is not possible in RS.

Lets say there is currently 1k steel plates in GE and a guy called Mr Rich wants as much steel plates as possible.

For simplicity's sake, lets ignore about the pricing since including price matching would be too complicated.

Mr Rich would instant bought 100 steel plates and must wait for 4 hours before he can buy another batch in GE.

While he is waiting, he would also post his offers in forums.

However chances are not everyone are interested in reselling and not all of the steel plates sitting in GE have been bought.

After 4 hours, more steel plates come in from smithers and Mr X bought another 100. The one who are reselling to Mr X raise their price slightly higher than the price in GE as they also only have limit supplies.

Smither start realising whats going on would simply ditch the GE and start selling in the black market on forums.

If you want 200 steel plates, you must wait for 4 hours to get it. Why? Its because suppliers in forums would prefer to make a deal with Mr X as he can buy all or more of their stocks in one go than you.

Doesnt that make GE sounds a bit fail?

Without the limit and by what we have gathered, if you queue up for 200 steel plates in GE and Mr Rich queue up for 1k steel plates in GE, Mr Rich wont get his 1k steel plates faster than your 200 steel plates offers would have finished.

Unlike real world or buying in forums, no one get a bonus for buying in bulk in GE.

  3. The grand exchange is an excellent tool. It's perfect in itself, but the problems it has are due to trade restrictions that are imposed on it.

People can say the GE is reponsible for unbuyable rares and other good items, but that's no free trade + merch + etc etc's fault

People can say the GE is responsible for the general practice of dumping items at lowest to sell them faster, and as such the lowering in price of commodities, but that's also due to imposed price fluctuations that can't handle real-time supply and demand.

Grand Exchange is one of the best things to happen to RuneScape. The rules it has to adhere to are some of the worst.

Price ceiling and price floor is not too much of a problem, thats how real life stock exchange works as well (in fact, the good can be taken out of the market if it drop or rise too much).

The initial price of a real life stock isnt set by us either, it is set by the stock proposer.

Anyway, Jagex should stop pretending GE is a free market as its not and they should intervene if their initial price is far beyond the market price (ie: no trade). It have been done before on ash a year ago.

The only thing I dont like much about GE is the quota of the maximum amount of goods you can buy/sell each day.

With the current system ((Have a read on http://forum.tip.it/topic/282690-how-the-grand-exchange-fulfills-offers/), there is no point of doing so since the mass buyer would not get a trade faster than a small buyer nor the higher bidder would win. And besides, the buyer would simply ask someone to buy it for them or resort to black market or breaking rule 6.

  4. You may think it is a ludicrous claim, which is exactly what I said in the first line of the first post, but fan-sites have had a large effect of the longevity of this game and it's lasting success.

Take the clan world for example. The clan forums on the RSOF work, but they do not work anywhere near the way those here on tip.it and those on RSC work. The clan world would in no way have the strength it currently does, and therefore, you have to ask whether some of the things catered towards the clan world would exist too. For example, would clan wars have come into existence?

To a player, a community is one of the driving forces to staying in the game. Jagex have taken time to introduce things such as clan chats to try and create communities, but for a long time, the only good places to create communities were fan-sites.

I think we will probably lose to rsof with we declare war on rsof clans forum. Our active population that still plays the game is low and the one who will actually join TET events? Even lower.

Not sure about other specialist fansites, but scapeboard or other mmo fansite startout as something like wikileaks. We are basically sharing informations, view points or maybe rumor that the company probably dont want you to know. The J company hate questguides and it is probably not wise to say something they dont appreciate in their backyard no matter how great their forum software is.

Anyways, I am not disagreeing with you, tip.it does keeps me playing... However it obviously doesnt apply to people like some admin and mods we know who have rage quited and still remain here.

But in some degrees, it does keep those non-active players interested in what happening with the game and may cause them to return for a few days or so.

  5. They could also release Skillcape hoodies, where the pull strings were the color of the tassels on the cape...

I actually really like this idea, I think it could be pulled off well.

But people are complaining all of the t-shirts are just plain t-shirts with something slapped on it but if they're not going to go into deals with proper clothes companies, preferring to have cheap t-shirts easily done on spreadshirt, then it's just what you're to expect.

The last two Jagex Stores WERE deals done with merchandise companies. Spreadshirt is just a mass on-demand printing company, nothing special at all.

It seems they dont want to spend too much risk on the store, at least not as much as before. Perhaps something to do with their brand new project.

Not too surpised about the outsourcing since we got our toolbars in similiar form, but it does seems that their market research may be lacking.

XXXL sizes - what are they trying to suggest here?!

Sounds like the kind that doesnt need a shirt or shoes.

  6. I generally try to keep my character as Saradominist as possible, but the game really seems to put you through the path of either Guthix, Zaros, or just being self-centred and manipulative. Saradomin and Zamorak are usually portrayed as supported by naïve and unthinking people, or psychopaths, it's a tad strange when you consider that most of the human kingdoms and society are Saradominist yet function fairly well.

Adventurer is merely a fancy name that we called ourselves as an mercenary. Basically we are just a bunch of unemployed soldiers. Our avatar always ask for rewards and get annoyed if delayed.

We happens to be working for White knights just because they employed as for now, even we know they will betray us sooner or later from Bob and Juna.

I just feel bad for those Zamorakist majahrat and leaders who could just employ us against their foe rather than treat us as a threat, hiding some from us or betrays us afterwards.

We dont work for them because they are doing something that make us dont trust them will pay up afterwards...

It does puzzle us how on earth people who believe in chaos can form an disciplined army like the black knights. Lucien and his zombies make more sense to me.

Anyways, the only truly naive and unthinking people are pacifist monks and Entrana. All the others are just manipulated subjects of a cunning leader.

As for human kingdom, only Asgarnia (Falador) is close to a "Saradomin society", which its current ruling party approves. But still it is not recognised by the leader of Burthrope and the Black knights who both put their faith in some other deity.

All the other kingdoms doesnt officially adopt Saradomin as their official religon.

Morale games like fable are fun when you play as bad and corrupt as possible, you just cant spell slaughter without laughter.

What you say is true. RS is mostly for the good players. Those who wish to play a game where you can be evil and choose your character's own destiny shouldn't play this game.

Most bloodthirsty pkers dont bother to do quest anyways.

  7. I think it'd be pretty funny if dragon defenders ended up being ranged shields.

I guess it'd also help out the whole combat triangle balance thing, but it'd be more for teh lulz.

But how is it possible that a metal fork can deflect flying tomatos better than a metal plate?

Speaking of whips, it seems to be pretty low risk on investing them anyway, since they are like in their lowest now and dragon defender or the pvp absorb wont have any harm to them.

But if you aim for something bigger... I would say after dragon defender is out, it would be interesting to see how those 2hs, claws and dfs would reestablish its price.

  8. Cut the crap, market takes it all.

The mid level spirit shields actually rise in price for some reason. High end spirit shields doesnt affected.

Last time when rumors of d defenders arrived, it doesnt seem to be affected either.

    http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/results.ws?query=spirit+shield&price=all&members=

Dragonfire shields crashes each time when news of dragon defenders come out.

    http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/Dragonfire_shield/viewitem.ws?obj=11284

DFS have it own demand as not everyone have enough money for 85 herblore but their money pile does have 8 digits.

However most people who use it are not dragon slayers.

    Dragon claws dropped by 0.7%.

    http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/Dragon_claws/viewitem.ws?obj=14484

Btw, dragon claws is going to be the best spec for pvp after pvp soaking is out.

Since the system only works on damage more than 200 and the reduction is base on percentage, double hitter specials shrines out.

Godswords also have some impact. BGS dropped by 0.85%, AGS dropped by 0.42%.

In fact, sgs doesnt even move a bit.

    http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/results.ws?query=godsword&price=all&members=

    Saradomin sword dropped by 0.68%

    http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/Saradomin_sword/viewitem.ws?obj=11730

    Zamorak spear dropped by 0.8%.

    http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/Zamorakian_spear/viewitem.ws?obj=11716

However, ZS and SS never recover in price since dragon defender is mentioned by some jmods. Their actual drop rate is around 8-9%.

besides, I dunno how you can justify DFS etc as "reasonable price" for anyone under 110 combat who arent filthy rich but have high defence. (like myself a few years ago) The damn thing isn't worth 28m as far as im concerned.

30mil is "filthy rich"? Thats merely investing for 4 months of manage thy kingdom with only 10min playing time per week working on it.

And besides, the only dragon slaying alternative is either the crappy anti-dragon shield or 85 herblore which can easily cost more than 100mil.

If you are just looking for a shield, you got dragon square and a blessed spirit shield for those who do quests. Truely "filthy rich" people dont even care about those craps.

  9. I dunno about your assertion that people won't be switching out DFS for dragon defenders. Rune defender vs DFS for Bandos solos are already pretty comparable if you're quick at banking and getting kc- when the dragon defender comes out it might give that extra kick that makes it definitively better. DFS is running out of things it's the best for, which is part of why it's dropping. In addition to the dragon defender coming out, we're still seeing delayed results of soul split coming out, which was the last nail in the coffin for defensive equipment in many scenarios. As fewer and fewer people find that they ever need non-passive healing, the trend is toward rune defenders over DFS and Bandos over barrows. The DFS's wild crash was a combination of factors, not simply a panic dump.

Blessed spirit shield was already kind of a niche noob shield and much more affordable, so it simply doesn't have as far to fall. It's also a component of all the sigiled spirit shields (which still have their uses largely intact), which gives it some cushion.

Well thought but if DFS is that outdated, then why it would rise back if everyone have no confidence on that goods?

Besides like what I have said, people who have switched to defenders wont bother to have a DFS sitting idle in their bank which has a trend of dropping steadily since summer.

The weirdest part is other 2hs such as godswords and claws have the same trend as DFS, which have a sharp drop earlier this week but swiftly recovering at 10% per day. +-10% is the max GE would allow for an single item, coincidence?

I can't really back this up with anything, but it seems highly likely that you will need to beat a quest to equip it, and this quest will require a rune defender at some point. I can't just be a drop on it's own; quests and drops AREN'T mutually exclusive, you know. Seems like the easiest way to make sure you got the rune defender first. My guess is that the quest unlocks the ability to equip it and get one.

I just hope I can get one lol. (By get, I mean that I'm able to kill whatever drops it or be able to afford it IF it's a drop.)

What do you mean by arnt mutually exclusive? Rune plates is the obvious case, it requires dragonslayer yet can be smithed, bought for and loot from treasure chest.

Dragon daggers is a boss drop in gwd as well i think.

  10. 2hs and shields prices has pretty much been screwed up now after Jagex mods start talking about it... Wonder what happens after its actual release.

Hate to admit it, but I have lose over 3 mil with the dragonfire shield sold at 2.7mil in fear for a bail out due to the dragon defender feasco.

If I buy dfs back now at max i am going to lose another 3 mil, thats the first time I have lose over 6mil for a single item in the market for 9 years of playing and 3 years of investing.

I still cant figure out whats the releationship between defenders and dragonfire shield, people who prefer defenders and has 85+ herblore never use shields at all and people who are using dragon shields wont be using defenders in the near furture anyway.

I guess livermore rules dont work in rs...

On the other hand... blessed spirit sheild doesnt seem to be affected... weird? yes.

I hope it will be a quest reward though, since most of the rs population dont bother to do quests and an untradeable rare drop sounds like as fail as challenge scrolls.

  11. Bank with dueling ring. And take the hide.

I suppose the ring of dueling is slightly faster than dungeon ring, but it add an extra 200gp teleport cost per trip...

I think I will try this method for a while and time it to see how it goes.

Why Dont You just alch the other drops?

Firstly the alch value for some of the goods is much lower than the market value (high valued runes, herbs and gems for example).

There also exist a risk for taking 1 inventory spot for explorer ring or 2 inventory spot out for runes purely for anticipating an uncommon drop, especially when each trip is only around 5mins.

  12. Dragonfire shield is mostly only useful if you have tons of cash to spend, and even if you do have it, the +2 str bonus won't really help unless you're fighting a low defence monster while using extremes/overload + turmoil, or you have to tank something (Like Bandos.)

Or well, there's one use where it beats defender, and that's PvP activities.

    Enhanced Excalibur > Saradomin Godsword.

So yes. But, there's rumour of Dragon Defender coming out this month, so that might be the reason why Dragonfire shield is dropping.

Get prayer 95 or 85+ herblore first. The Dragonfire shield can more or less only go lower in price right now.

    Define "tons of cash"?

Commenting on a purely marketing view, comared to Sgs, 95 prayer or 85+ herblore, the 26.5m price tag of the resellable dragonfire shield is relatively quite affordable.

Going from 81->85 cost 29mil using anti-fire (4599*6490). Getting 95 prayer will cost over 100mil without even calclating. Non-refunable of cause.

  13. If you don't have claws/EE, get them

If you don't have a rune def/super antifires, get them.

And now you've pretty much gotten rid of the need for a SGS/DFS.

super anti-fire need 85lv and dont even think of training it now... buying materials during market recession just means losing money fast.

  14. I've been saving for an SGS, but yesterday a few of my friends told me that I shouldn't buy it. Then, when I asked them if I should buy a DFS, they didn't respond >.>

So should I buy either of them? I don't really feel like spending it on skills right now (usually that's what I'd do) and before you try and say get a chaotic weapon, NO. I don't train dung very often, can't bother to get higher than I already am. NO way I'm getting 80.

    Um, look at the graph.

    http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/Dragonfire_shield/viewitem.ws?obj=11284

Are you sure that is a good idea?

  15. Like others have said, its not a money sink as no gp go back to jagex.

Herbs and potions are currently falling in price and is dropping fast.

If you enter the market now and the trend continues, you will lose more than expected... even herb cleaning can lose money now.

However if the herblore market recovers, you might even get a profit from your potions.

Keep watching and speculating the herb market and buy when you think the price crash is almost over.

Buy low sell high is the only profit way.

  16. Take hide or not take hide? This is the question.

I have ask that question and I got answers which sometime is a 'yes' or sometimes a 'no' and mostly just silence or the universal answer, 'noob'.

method: daemon, bank, games back = 30sec average, opportunity cost = 1.5 dragons + 2 inventory slots +100gp teleport fee

average time for me to kill a dragon = 20secs

    green hide = 1856 = 36% of a d bone

    dragon bones = 5017

dont take hide: (5017*25-100)/(20*27+30)= 219.868421gp/sec or 791,53k per hour

take hide: ((5017+1856)*12+5017-100)/(20*13+30)= 301.355172gp/sec or 1084.88k per hour

Does that correct or even make sense?

Also, should I take stuff that worth more than d hides?

here is a list of those stuff:

    adamant full helm = 1959 = 39% of a d bone

    emerld = 2,394 = 48% of a d bone

    water runes x75 = 2711 = 54% of a dbone, stacks

    nature runes x15 = 2985 = 59% of a dbone, stacks

    rune dagger = 4652 = 93% of a dbone

  17. Sliske himself did not kill his Barrows toys, but it was the power he granted them that sealed their fate. Power is fleeting, and Sliske always gets what he wants out of deals; Id advise, should you ever meet him, not to make deals with him.

    Interesting bit from the postbag.

Given the fact that the barrows brothers are fighting zamaork's army at the time when they are still alive in Morton. Although chances are they are doing it for saradomin. However for Sliske's sake, who was a zaro's follower and probably still is, the brothers are his enemy's enemy for which that is strategically improper to kill the brothers at that moment.

Azzandra could be correct about that... but on second thoughts, did we stike a deal with some strange being on some quest before?

For the new sword, as an improved leaf blade, I would speculate on dragonfire shield may rise a bit. Good sword nevertheless, I think I have a weapon for str training now.
