This is untrue. By "materials of choice" I understand the way in wich you choose to train the skill, and for many skills the rocks can only be gotten by training in a specific way (i.e. for Thieving you can get rocks by pickpocketing, but not from stealing from stalls, chests, or Pyramid Plunder). Therefore the materials of choice do play a role, and players can achieve their rocky goals in an often limited number of creative means.

More spawns. If there were more monsters, they would have specified wich ones they were.

With today's update, several quest givers are giving out additional rewards for their quests. I spoke to the Lumbridge cook and got 500 gp and 5 sardines. With Father Aereck in Lumbridge church I got 5 Ancient bones that give 200 xp when buried. It cannot be used in a POH altar. Farmer Fred NW of Lumbridge gave me 1940 gp. Professor Oddenstein in the top floor of Draynor Manor (wich has been graphically updated as of today) gave me 2.7k, 10 eggs and 300 feathers. I tried every other quest NPC and there doesn't seem to be further rewards. Gypsy Aris' tent in Varrock is different now, and so ir her NPC model. She looks much older now.

Just use the whip on controlled. It's the smartest to do if you don't have 99 attack or defense yet.

Incorrect; I made the mistake of killing Tzhaar (8 to be precise,) after finishing caves and killing Jad. Tzhaar in no way affect your task xp, task numbers - only monsters inside the fight cave count in the slightest. Aha, I've just remembered - I popped into the caves to check if they gave xp & went to round 3 before exiting the caves to get kitted out for my assault on Jad. These kills must have counted against me Probably not, check my thoughts about this in the last post of the previous page.

Perhaps if you killed Jad you would have gotten the 25k bonus! Just because the message appeared it doesn't mean it invalidated Jad. If your info is right, then 280 is the exact number of creatures there are to kill before Jad. Let's say they made it so you had to kill 281 creatures (the 280 + Jad). If you killed the final 360 but then FAILED Jad, you'd have to go back to the cave just to kill ONE Tz-Kih (the fire bat). That would be annoying. So Jagex made it exactly 280 so you wouldn't have to go back if you failed Jad. But Jad still probably counts. I knew you would say that, because I had thought the same thing too. But if Jagex had the intention to broaden your task, they would have made it so Kuradal clarified that aspect. They would have made her clearly state that you can now kill, besides the TzHaar, the creatures in the Fight Caves, the same way that, as other users have shown, the clarified you have to kill 280 volcanic creatures of the fight caves.

Well that's the issue, isn't it? How is that apparent? Not from language alone. All of these creatures are "in the volcano," so it would be reasonable to infer that they are "volcanic," but you're right that Jagex might not be treating it that way. The question on the table is, "Has anyone checked?" Surely someone has actually tried this. Perhaps someone in this very long thread already has tried it and reported the result -- I don't remember. But I'm agnostic on the question until I either try it myself or get a report from a trustworthy source who has personally tried it. Well, if Kuradal were only asking if you wanted to improve their quantity, and not switch the kind of monsters to kill, then she would say if you wanted to kill 84 volcanic creatures from the start, and then ask if you wanted it increased to 280. That way if you wanted to kill 84 TzHaar you could, as they would count as volcanic creatures, but then if you wanted to kill more, you also could. But, by using the word TzHaar in the initial task, she specifies that TzHaar are NOT volcanic creatures. At least that's how I see it. Besides, if you assume TzHaar count as volcanic creatures, why would she offer this buff in quantity only to the TzHaar task, and not to others? Why would someone be limited to kill 40-90 Iron dragons, but not 80-110 TzHaar? It would be inconsistent. And if she only wanted to give the player the opportunity to kill Jad, she could do so without having to buff the quantity. To me, it all points out that TzHaar do NOT count for the Jad task, only the Fight Caves creatures.

I do solo Queen if I get Kalphite task. And tasks don't last forever either, after killing her you can quickly slay all those babies that spawn during battle. Yes, but then you would probably still solo the Queen eventually even if you didn't get a Kalphite task. You just refrain from doing it until you get a task so you get that nice Slayer XP bonus to an activity you would have done anyway. After all, no one who is training Slayer seriously would do the Queen, they would go to the soldiers, where the XP is faster. That is probably what Jagex had in mind when adding Kalphites to the list too, the soldiers.

I don't like it that they included Kalphites. It's not like anyone will kill the Queen or the Guardians 200+ times, so why have a level 110-combat master assign level 82 creatures? Really out of place. Plus, they are annoying. and why the hell did they bother removing Scabarites and Goraks, but NOT Terror dogs? I've yet to find a single soul that actually likes those creatures.

17th November 2009 - Potions, Spells and Runes
Yes, but it's this sudden enlightenment that I find ridiculous. It would have been alot more gloryfying if each skill had a specific master, and once you got to a certain level, you would go to this master and, analyzing how much prowess you now have with the skill, find you worthy of teaching you new techniques so you can improve even further. Of course, this would present a huge bother of having to go to this master often for each skill, but it would have made the 'learning new things' process all that more believable.

Yes, you and metoo1000 are right. What I meant to say with my Slayer post is how it would be if the game was LOGICAL (I like this word alot if you may have noticed), but it is not. Considering real life, let's say you're a novice hunter and begin hunting elks. Those things are huge and slow, so they're an easy target and you hit them very often with your rifle. Now, try to hunt ducks that are flying above. You will be extremely terrible at hitting them, but that does NOT mean you will NEVER hit them. You will just be very inneficient and waste alot of bullets for each duck hunted, but you are still able to hunt them... As you practice on elks more, your aiming improves, and when you decide to hunt ducks again you could possibly hit them all the time. This is how RS would work if it were logical, but it is not, you cannot hunt red chinchompas AT ALL until you hit the level, not hunt them very poorly like would happen if RS was like real life. In the context of RS, your idea of being able to slay the monsters better if you're above their required level, or get better drops, is really good.

Wizard Cromperty. And ohh yes, 150 essence REALLY CAN BE COMPARED to the hundreds of thousands of essence that are mined each and every day. Way to go in logical thinking =P

Mind explaining me why you think Astrals will fall? Because it makes no sense :) Yeah, the price should actually rise, not fall, as supply will be decreased.
-
17th November 2009 - Potions, Spells and Runes
It definitely has. Now that RCers with 70+ make as much money as 82 rcers do with 2x astral, both nats and astrals will go down quite a bit. Maybe at lower slayer levels you should have a chance of hitting monsters then? Precisely. Suddenly being illuminated on how to kill an Abyssal Demon while having absolutely no clue before, after killing, say, 1 extra Dust Devil from your task is just as ridiculous as RC was before this. What should have been done with Slayer is that you could kill high-level Slayer monsters without having the necessary level, but it would take an awfully long time as you would only hit for example 1 in 30 attacks. Then as you improved Slayer the hit chance would increase... A few levels below the required level, half of the attacks you would have normally have hit if you had the level would instead hit 0. It would have been the most logical thing to do.

17th November 2009 - Potions, Spells and Runes
The Runecrafting update makes all the sense to me. I always found it illogical that you became no better at crafting runes for 45+ levels (from 44 to 90 RC, discounting the essence pouches), then when you're 5 xp away from 91, you craft a single more rune from the tens of thousands you had already crafted before and then BAM!, suddenly divine illumination comes to you and you realize out-of-nowhere how to improve your RC efficiency 100%! It is like if someone spent their entire life doodling stickmen on paper, never improving his skill or style, and then after the 13,556th doodle he suddenly learns how to paint like Michelangelo. As you gain cooking levels, you don't burn all the same rate until you reach the non-burning level. As you level, you improve gradually. The same thing for mining, woodcutting, fishing and so many other skills. So why should RC be different? Like I said, the previous system was illogical and inconsistent with the rest of the game. I have a friend whose RC level is 86. He made a nat trip carrying 52 essence and came out with 76 nats, wich is a 44% improvement. He had to leave and couldn't do more trips, but I imagine the rate doesn't deviate too much from that. If it does, I'll come back and edit this, but for now I say: Despite being 5 levels away from 91, he's only 44% better than a 44 RC'er, while a 91 RC'er is 100% better. A difference of 56% in 5 levels. So being 91 RC is still a whole lot better; this update has not dimmed the glory of double natting :)

I'm quite interested to know if the "better thieving and pickpocketing anywhere" bonus from the Hard cape also works at Pyramid Plunder. If that is so, then it's bliss!

May 20th: New Slayer Monster Information.
I lol'd. To those wondering, the monster's name will actually be Aquanite, as decided by Poll vote (the brawl was pretty tight between the names Gilidrixon and Aquanite, the latter won by 117 votes of difference :P )

The 'new' Slayer Masters discussion(from new quest)
What do you mean she wanted him dead? I've chosen every dialogue option with her and I don't recall she saying that. How do I get her to say it? But what you say is probably true, since Duradel's replacement is The Devourer's (Sumona's) disciple. It's quite weird how her DISCIPLE wears the Slayer cape and not his master =S

The 'new' Slayer Masters discussion(from new quest)
Perhaps the game doesn't give you the clue that asks to speak to Hazelmere any longer after you do the quest... But I wonder what happens if you currently have the clue that leads to him and do While Guthix Sleeps! The clue becomes unsolvable? =O Btw I found the fight vid: http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=acbMDwnw3sg

The 'new' Slayer Masters discussion(from new quest)
If you don't want a big surprise spoiled regarding the plotline of the new quest that has to do with the slayer masters, please don't click below. [hide=]From what I have read, some Slayer Masters such as Duradel and Mazchna die during the new quest. I've also heard that new NPCs substitute these after the quest. I haven't done it, so can anyone who's done the quest share interesting information about them, such as post screens of them and quoting what they say for us all? A video showing the master's fight with Lucien would also be quite nice. After this has been done, we can share our opinions. Do you prefer these new ones or the old ones? If so, why?[/hide] EDIT: Found the video of the fight http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=acbMDwnw3sg
