  1. What is it with you kids and "hating the mainstream" when the music you listen to is mainstream?

Because it's cool to hate the mainstream now.

It's always been cool to hate the mainstream.

It's even cooler to hate those that hate the mainstream.

  2. So. I'm running for a few weeks now, and I really enjoy it. So me and my friend subscribed for the yearly coast marathon in october. It's the toughest marathon of our country, and it's suposed to be very beautiful. We've got nine months left for training, we're in average condition (my friend is a little bit behind due to a 7 week holiday to new zealand). At this moment the longest run I've had was a distance of about 15KM in 90 minutes (without stopping) and I didn't have much trouble with that (except for being a bit cold since it was -4, while I didn't know that and was wearing shorts and a t-shirt >.>). I ordered a heart-rate watch and a book with running schedules (which should arrive tomorrow) so I can start training in more focused way. I was wondering if there were any tips from people that have been running for a longer time and also did races/marathons, since I really am a noobie. I'm not doing this marathon to end as high as possible, by the way. I'm doing it to make it to the end and be proud of myself that I made this achievement.

I think that so far my first goal is going to be to run half a marathon. And I want to achieve that in three months. To do that I want to run three times a week. One long run at a lower pace for endurance, one shorter run with higher speed and lastly one shorter run at a normal pace. I want to run on thuesday, friday and sunday. Monday and wednesday aren't resting days by the way, on those days I go to the gym but I don't run there. Only cardio I do there are walking 10 minutes (not running) to warm up a little and bike for 25 to 30 minutes. Other than those cardio exercises I'm mainly bussy on machines (chest, back, arm, and a few leg exercises). Is this doable? Am I not over-doing anything? Should I take more rest? I really enjoy doing all this, but I don't want to end up with some kind of nasty injury because I'm doing too much, so advice would be appreciated a lot.

My length is 200CM and my weight is around 90KG by the way. I'm planning to lose some weight because I think that it will lower the blow on my legs while running (am I right in that?). I want to weigh somewhere between 80 and 85. Age 23, will be 24 when marathon is held.

  3. Does anybody else do the thing when they just get home, from a fairly stressful or busy day, going into your bedroom, standing right infront of your bed. Then just fall onto the bed and stay where you land for a minute or two, then just get up and carry on with whatever needs to be done.

    haha, yes.

  4. jump on the couch with a beer, put on a record or watch sports. Or just go out with some friends for a drink. Sometimes I also go to my bed, put on a cd and stare at the ceiling. Running works as well. I don't really watch a movie to relax, I'm usually pretty concentrated so I don't miss anything. :)
