  1. BLACK METAL IS MY LIFE.

    I love you man. <3:

Blut aus Nord (The Work Which Transforms God), Shining (V: Halmstad), Elffor (Into the Dark Forest...), Aäkon Këëtrëh (Dans La Forêt), Amesoeurs (Ruines Humaines), Anaal Nathrakh (Hell is Empty and All the Devils Are Here), Burzum(Det Som Engang Var), and Gorgoroth (Antichrist) are all pretty good.

  2. This is me you're talking to. My kid is going to be subjected to hours of Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, Nick Drake and World's End Girlfriend.

Don't children always hate the music their parents like? Just pretend to like really bad music for the first 13 years of their life, then bring out the good stuff.

  3. Bump?

I think he wasn't "bumping my thread" i think he was going with the acronym "Bennie's unicycle made popsicles" Sorry Mr. Mod for the confusion/

And what you posted in itself was just a shameless bump to stop your thread from dying.

  4. There were some good bits, e.g. the entirety of episode seven, but for the most part it was just monotonous and bordering on annoying. I didn't mind it, but I wouldn't watch it again. May I just ask, what do you like about it? I'm not trying to be a jerk if it came across like that; I'm genuinely interested.

I generally like high school girls stuff so the genre had already won me over though in Hyakko it was the characters. At first I thought meh, it's going to be about some wishy-washy girl in high school but when the focus transferred over to Torako, I started loving it. Also the character dynamics were done well like Torako's and Tatsuki's love/hate relationship (okay, hate on Tatsuki's part whilst Torako was all for the love) and the other minor characters which left me wanting to see more of them. I don't really like characters like Minato and Ayumi but this anime made them bearable in the form of the awesomeness that is Torako.

I can definitely agree that the characters were well done. It just seemed to me that every episode had a plot-line that should have only taken 5 minutes, but instead was drawn out for 20. That said, I love Suzume.

  5. Yesterday I came across a piece of music that I've had on my computer for a while but never really paid any attention to. This piece is the perfect example of the awesomeness that Minimalism is capable of. I'd really recommend listening to all the videos of you have a chance. (The piece goes for just under 30 minutes.)

  6. Just finished watching Shuffle!. I really enjoyed it, and it was quite well done considering it was based off a hentai game. It was pretty ridiculous, though enjoyable, for the first ten or so episodes. Then it got really good when they started exploring the girls' pasts.

[hide=]And I'm very happy about who he ended up with.[/hide]

  7. Just watched Hyakko. Bad move. Also just started Shuffle! which seems like it'll be a bit of fun.

Based on SilverSword's recommendation I'm gonna watch Nodame Cantabile soon.

    Hyakko is awesome!

I'm going to watch more fighting based animes rather than high school slice-of-life ones. Kinda' getting tired of them.

I might watch Elfen Lied at some point, but there are about 10 other animes I want to watch before that. At the moment I'm downloading Amaenaideyo!! and Aria, and I'll be getting Nodame Cantabile and Baccano! (so many exclamation marks) after that.

  8. Ty,

What is the file size? I want to finish downloading and put on my Zen tonight, but Firefox wont say how long left or how large the file itself is..

91MB for the seven songs. 160kbps.

  9. Republic of Heaven goes for 14:30.

And I've almost finished listening to the album now. I have to be honest, it's not as good as I thought it was going to be. There are some great moments, but on the whole it's not fantastic. That said, I haven't taken any note of the lyrics/concept album thing going on. I'd recommend it to any fan of Isis though.

  10. Singing skill is no issue, anyone can make a good rap song with 3 things.

    -A lot of drug/violence/sex references

-A thesaurus to make some rhymes

    -A good beat

It really is a mystery why people seem to think you're a good poster.

It's because he is, and he's also right. Many artists these days can't sing for their lives. One example of this is the infamous Miley Cyrus. May I go on?

But I also agree that I can find some music like that enjoyable.

People like you fail to understand that different genres of music have different strengths and weaknesses, and if you are to analyse whether or not an artist is good or bad, you have to do it in relation to their genre. If you were to analyse a Pop artist's skill based on musicianship/guitarwork they would obviously come off as terrible, as that's not what Pop is about. Pop is about the catchiness and how likeable the music is.

While I agree that certain artists--namely those who don't write their own music--perhaps do not deserve the fame they receive, to criticize the entire genre because of that is foolish. There are many Pop artists out there who are talented (even if not at singing, then at composing/producing), and deserve the fame they receive.

  12. 1. I have no Idea what he listens to other than what he has referred to in his posts. I was making the point that you cannot roll those three bands together like that.

    2. We are discussing my opinion. I don't listen to much music that was made after the 60's and 70's, when electronic music supplimented other insturments, and was rarley used on a stand alone basis.I think that most electronic music sounds bad. I do listen to music, I don't listen to your music. "Substance" can mean anyting. I just posted my opinion of modern music. I hate it, or at least i hate the vast majority of it.

    3. If you can't get signed by a major label, then you call yourself "indie". It's a marketing slogan. It's an image "I'm Indie dude, I'm against the mainstream."

    4. And now i'm bigoted. I hear the lyrics, ok? i listen to the radio. I hear the garbage when i get dragged to one idiot's house or another by my GF. To me, it sounds like nothing but a bunch of phony statements and marketing slogans.

If you grew up largely listening to classic rock and were suddenly forced to listen to this trash, you wouldn't like it either. I am on a site full of people who will not be friendly to my opinions here. It's very clear that not much will be accomplished other than me listening to you all tell me what an [wagon] I am. I won't say much further on this.

Since you clearly have not read the previous posts and probably never will ill sum this up by pasting something I said previously:

"so what if I don't like it? I can like whatever I choose to like and not like. I enjoy being a cynical jerk, and i'll ignore any record I want. I could just as easily say that many people are incredibly ignorant about classical rock, and that they need to come out of their "small bounds". Why are you so concerned with my musical preference?

In the words of the Animals,

"It's my life and I'll do what I want

It's my mind and I'll think what I want"

nothing further to say here. btw, bon jovi's cover of that song sucked.

    1. He was simply listed three popular bands that were around prior to 1988.

    2. It's quite probable that that you don't listen to my music, as Classic Rock is just about the only genre I don't listen to (with the exception of obscure sub-genres of genres I don't know as much about... and Polka). You really can't say you hate the vast majority of modern music, as you haven't listened to it. It has become quite apparent that you have only listened to what is popular at the moment. Popular music is generally as such for its catchiness more than anything else. It's not like there isn't good music that is also popular, but the music that you hear on MTV on the radio is generally on there because it's appreciated by people who enjoy music for the catchiness, not the musicianship or depth of the lyrics. Hence why you seem to think all modern music has lyrics about whiny middle-class teenagers. It seems a bit unfair to base all music post-1988 on Lady Gaga or Nickelback.

    3. Though Indie music may have started as a tag for bands who were unsigned or on independent record labels, it has evolved into a genre that has little relevance to what label the band is on, e.g. Death Cab for Cutie is signed on Warner, and The Strokes are signed on Sony BMG.

    4. Well, yes, you are bigoted. It's interesting to me that you have yet to attack the actual musicality of modern Rock, you've only attacked the lyrics, but that's an aside. I'm not arguing the lack of talent that is present in the music played on a lot of radio stations, I just think you're missing out on a lot of great music by cutting yourself off from anything written in the past twenty years. You can't honestly say it's reasonable to think that no good musicians/composers have written music in the past twenty years.

As for why I'm so concerned with your musical preference.. good point. I have no idea. Based on that, I'll leave you alone now.

  13. 1. When did I try to come off as anything but another typical classical rock evangelist? I've been pretty up front about that. The fact that you compare AC/DC to the Beatles and the Doors shows that you don't much about music beyond MTV, Fuse, and whatever other idiotic channels that are on air. AC/DC is much bigger now than it ever was in its prime, except maybe in the brief period after the release of Back in Black. AC/DC was from a completely different time, there is no way that you can just casually just bundle them together like that as if they were all simmilar, unless you see modern shirts and hats on everyone and assume that.

    2. I though that all other types of music that I didn't mention would fit nicely under "MTV Trash". All electronic music might as well be called "crap" because that is what the vast majority of it sounds like.

    3. As an American, and not a British record executive, I really couldn't tell you what is selling or not selling in the U.K. Unless we are talking about british invasion music, i don't feel much need to pay attention to it. it's good to know though I guess. I doubt it's much different than American music though, which is largely a bunch of whiny brats who are middle class to rich making up stories about their hard days in the hood where they could hardly afford to buy champagne and caviar. It scarred them for life, they have to cut themselves on a daily basis to relieve the pain.

    4. I can't even comprehend any meaning out of this last bit. Do you think that Johnny Cash is a rapper (he's a 60's and 70's country singer), or to you have such short term memory problems that you can't remember that i spent my entire post hitting mainly modern Rock, and only briefly mentioned Rap. I do hate it though, you got that right.

adn to your final point, it's the old unbeatable argument, "if you don't agree with me, you're a troll. Yo0u are a stooped five yeair olde kiddie and I hat u, dieee"

You aren't the first person to come up with that one, you know.

    1. You're totally right. SilverSword only listens to MTV music.

    2. So there is not a single piece of electronic music that has any musical substance in it?

    3. Why do you keep using that "example"? In all honesty, I think you'd be hard pressed to actually give us any examples of bands whose lyrics show any similarity to that, except perhaps some Pop-Punk. However, SilverSword was talking about Indie, so that hardly has any relevance.

If you show us that you are a bigoted 14-year-old who--although they try their hardest to pretend they do--has no knowledge of music, you will be treated as such.
