  11. "All right, why do you think alcohol is bad/evil? No offense, but other than mommy telling you it's bad, what problems do you have with someone drinking responsibly and in moderation? Sorry, I can't really respond properly until I hear your full perspective on the issue. I.e., I can't counterargue until I know what I'm arguing against ." Why is alchohol bad? Is that a joke? Alchohol impairs your ability to make decisions and act 100% of the time. This isnt a side effect of alchohol, its the EFFECT. You feel semi-distant from the world and cant make decisions well. O and theres a reason that all the mommys of the world tell you its bad. It is. Generally parents say things are bad because they are. (Generally :-$ ) O and arent we a bit off topic?
  12. You do realize you responded in precisely the same fashion I told you not to? Oh, and with a condescending attitude to boot. Flawless debating style. Way to reinforce the fact that you are exactly the kind of person I thought you were. quote] Wait, so if you knew it was going to be said why did you post that comment anyways? I'll stick with being "the person you thought I was" and still try to keep these forums clean.
  13. Well, then I'm sorry that you and half this goody two-shoo forum have fallen into the nerd mindset of pathetically dichotomously placing alcohol and sex into the "bad" category, while stuff like playing Runescape is in the "good" category. Wanna know something funny? Ghandi drank a ton as a kid. Ghandi smoked a lot as a kid. Hell, he was one of the most disobedient SOB's a parent could have, and that was in frikkin' India. But hey, you guys are right, he drank and smoked, and turned out to have a sucky life and be a burden on everyone. If addicted to those substances, yes, they can be problematic. But in moderation, they can be great for experiencing life. Me, even as a teenager I'm more of a fan of wine than beer, but I've got no problem with a buddy cracking open a beer and relaxing for a bit. Sex with a long time girlfriend? Whatever, just use protection, sex is chemically known to increase metaphysical bonds anyways, so more power to ya. The same goes for Runescape. In moderation, it's fine, it's great relaxation. Problem is, you guys are comparing being addicted to something to doing something else in moderation. You're trying to justify your addictions by saying that someone having a drink at a party is a bad person, or at least does a bad thing. Drinking alcohol is not a bad thing. Alcohol is not a bad thing. Seriously, this is such a frikkin' stereotypical puerile introvert mindset- listening to everything mommy tells you and don't even think about it for a second, making the other person the bad guy so you can be classified as the good. Hell, a few beers would be good for you guys. Grow up, get out of your frikkin' dark corners and experience the world for crying out loud, it'll do you a bit of good. And I'm not just making this point for him and his statements about said discussed matters. I'm making this for everyone. This forum's chock-full of young introverts, so I hope you all get the message and try and absorb it rather than incessantly lashing out against it. I have nothing against Runescape, it's great fun and great for relaxing after a hard day. I have a problem with justifying an addiction to it, or even just trying to justify it at all. If you think you have an addiction, do what you can to get rid of it. If you don't, then don't feel a need to justify your fun when there are are no points available to be utilized for justification. Just enjoy it, m'kay? On a forum such as this It is not the place to be advocating drugs and alchohol. Honestly you should know better.
  14. im not saying Runescape is the most amazing thing ever, its just amazing in comparison to some of the alternatives. Now its not an "educational program" but though u may not notice it, you do get good effects from it.
  15. Are you kidding? LOOK at the front page of general discussion right now. 6000 views 73 replies 50k views 6k replies 19 views 12 replies 209 views 1 reply 18 views 1 reply 14k+ views 2k replies Seriously, if you think this is intelligent discussion, gb2/b/. And if you don't know what that means... Lurk moar. hahahahaha Ok i concede that point. I was trying to make myself feel good about writing that much on a forum so i was pretending it was intelligent i guess lol. Well tipit used to have intelligent conversation.
  16. For crying out loud, just play the game for fun, you don't need to justify it and act like it actually helps you in life. These "arguments" have all been used before, and they've failed miserably every time. Seriously, just play the damn game. Amazing. Does bringing up concepts that have been used before make them less true? My point was not that Runescape is the best thing for you in the world. Honestly your time would be best spent taking extra classes in school or learning somewhere. But since the majority of kids dont seem to want to do that my point is that Runescape is an excellent alterantive. I am not "justifying" runescape. It does not need to be "Justified" I am merely singing its praises. We play Runescape because we enjoy it. You seem to have categorized my post as if it is a hackneyed article that is made in defense of Runescape. It is not. I hope I have made that clear to you. ---Daniel---
  17. Please read the entire post before posting. Thank you. We all have constantly heard the rants and moans about how everyone is "addicted" to RS. We've also all heard of or read the random articles that talk about how some children sit inside all day and stare at a computer screen. We are constantly warned about this ever growing, unstoppable, "unhealthy addiction." My thoughts and thesis that I am going to propose to you is that while there is an unhealthy addiction risk while playing runescape, there is also a healthy addiction. Why do you play Runescape? Is it to achieve goals? Is it to be the best you can be? Or is it merely a fun way to pass the time, and hang out with people? I propose that if the latter is the reason you play then you may be able to be healthily addicted. By this I mean you will be so in to the game that you will be able to continually play it, without getting bored. (luckilly RS is a good enough game for that). Most people (In the US at least) get home at 3 o'clock (ish). (personally i get home at 6 but Im not talking about me here) Now in between 3 and the time when you go to sleep, there is a lot of time to kill. Unfortunately a large number of kids fall into bad ways (alchohol, drugs, gangs etc.) because of this free time. Luckilly, theres Runescape. We become healthily addicted to this game, and meet new people, or even hang out with friends from real life. We are given something to do to pass the time. We do not fall into bad habits. If you don't believe this is true, look at what you are reading. A forum dedicated to this game that contains intelligent discussions. If you were wasting away in front of the TV watching Spongebob Squarepants do you think you would absorb anywhere near the knowledge you absorb now? You would be surprised at how much you learn from Runescape. Runescape has a functioning economy, one based principally on supply and demand. Economics? check. Runescape teaches the value of hard work and perseverance. Ethics? check. Runescape helps incredibly with general math skills. If you don't believe me the next time you sell a bulk item (flax, Bs, logs etc.) take a moment to realize how many calculations you're making. Math? check. Runescape is filled with popular culture references (theres an entire forum post devoted to them) as well as ancient legends and fables. Culture? check. I could go on, but you get my point. This addiction that we all love is an incredible one. Instead of wasting away, or falling into a bad habit, we are spending our time actually accomplishing something and having fun whle doing it. Now, my point is simply that instead of dismissing RS as just another one of those things you do, take a moment to realize what a great game you are really playing. ---Daniel---
  18. whats the best thing t put it on right now with new prices? last time i checked it was flax and maples but iv heard that thats changed?
  19. yay someone got it..... Its pretty simple how this relates to summoning. with this update u can be atacked by a human and monster in a single combat zone simultaneously. (previously u cudnt) This paves the way for summoning, in which u summon a monster to help u fight. Now u and monster can fight alongside eachother against 1 opponent in a single combat zone,
  20. How in the world is this a bug or a suggestion?!? dont try to be a mod...if it was in the wrong forum a mod would move it.
  21. One of the effects that people don't realize about todays wild update is that it paves the way for summoning. Now the monster u summoned can fight alongside u. Since now in the wild you are able to be hit by both the monster u attacked, and a human opponent, logically it seems that summoning would work the same way: Player 1 summons a goblin which attacks player 2, and player 1 attacks player 2 as well. Now, with this update, player 2 has a choice over which to fight, but meanwhile, summoning is not hindered by the single combat zone. NOTE: IM NOT SAYING SUMMONINGSS COMING OUT TOMOROW! im just saying that Jagex is paving the way for it in a future update, just like theyve done before...(using a seamingly unrelated update and using it to later to help with another) Now they dont have to change this when summoning does come out...breaks the flaming in half lol (bc u know that summoning (along with any update ever) will get flamed) -Dan
  22. Yes. I haven't played RS seriously for mor than a year, yet Im still on Tipit...generally i log in to check out a new cool sounding update (the GWD got me logged in, or the update to PC) but generally i stay away, Its an amazing game, but i personally vant control my level of addiction so i try to istance myself so that i can get good grades. I play during vacations, but thats mainly it. Tip it on the other hand, i check frequently, the much higher leverl of discussion and conversation lures me in. Also thats how i end up playing rs...ppl will be discussing something so much that ill have to check it out.
  23. This doesnt seem like such a big deal for me? I mean I would alwyas attack the 90s with guthan to make up for damage i was dealt. also u can still hide behind the 22s, they rarely hit. as long as u run from the 180 its fine....then again this is with 70+ def. It must be rly hard with no def, but i dont like pures anyways so meh i dont care.
