Firemaking is worth training! Halfway to 99 you can get an adze which will... speed up training woodcutting and firemaking together! They picked firemaking because it has a good xp rate for free starting at level 83 and up to that it's also fast and cheap. I don't see any quests with 90+ runecrafting or prayer requirements showing up anytme soon. But until then, FM is one of the skills people point to when they complain about grinding in RS. There are virtually no rewards outside of faster ways to train it until then, and even those stop showing up in the mid 80s. It's probably more self-contained than dungeoneering. Plus, the highest quest requirement just did a 10 level jump. That's a bit extreme, especially after they cited accessibility as the reason for making Salt in the Wound terrible (Or at least, after they frequently threw that word around in relation to it). It just encourages you to train it then.

Looks like a good month. The 90 Firemaking requirement looks promising to me. Even though I already have the level, having high requirements encourages me to train skills just for the quest requirements.

I just need to finish the last one. However, I might be stuck a bit. I'm asked to trade in my Thieves guild armour, but I already sold it to the fence, but that's where you get the armour from. There is no option to access her services, so I can't exactly buy it back either.

Slayer is a combat skill, but not a skill that affects your combat level. This is because Slayer doesn't really affect PvP situations. Since combat level only really matters against other players (since it's meant to show off your level TO other players rather than NPCs), it shouldn't really affect combat level at all.

Same thing here. Funny thing is, the entire class cheated on one of the tests (took the quiz beforehand and so they knew it front and back), and the teacher didn't suspect at all. "Almost everyone got perfect. Easy quiz or what?"
