  1. Daily Challenges & Noticeboard - September 19th 2012

    Daily Challenges

The Burthorpe Imperial Guard needs you! Members of all levels can now take on Daily Challenges: varied goals which, when completed, grant a healthy chunk of XP in the skill of your choice.

Each day, you'll be assigned a new Daily Challenge that you have the skill levels to fulfil. You can find out what this is through the new Noticeboard interface (more on that later).

These could be anything from culling the dagannoth population or brewing super prayer restore potions to cooking pies or growing watermelons. You can get hold of the materials you need however you like, but you'll need to complete at least the final stage of the process yourself. For example: if you're tasked with fletching yew longbows, you can buy the strings and bow shafts ready-made from the Grand Exchange and then put the bows together to complete the Daily Challenge.

When you're done, head over to Burthorpe and report in with the quartermaster for your reward. As you'll have to hand in any items that you're required to make, you'll be reimbursed with a challenge mystery bag, containing goods equivalent in value to any materials you had to use. On top of this, you'll get a hefty XP reward in the skill related to your completed Daily Challenge, as well as a spin on the Squeal of Fortune. Up to five of your most recently assigned Daily Challenges will be saved if not completed, so you can catch up if you miss out on a day or two.

Overcoming the thousands of Challenges that Gielinor can throw at you for sack-loads of XP and all expenses paid? Challenge accepted!

    The Noticeboard

Gielinor is a vast place, filled with wonders, perils and riches aplenty, so sometimes the hardest thing is knowing what to do next! That's no longer a problem, with the introduction of the Noticeboard - the one-stop interface for all of your RuneScape adventures.

The Noticeboard - accessible anywhere via its icon in the bottom-right of the screen - brings the new Daily Challenge system together with the existing Quest Journal and Task Lists (now called Achievements) in one handy interface. For members, there's also a 'Minigames' tab, which directs you to Minigame or D&D content that's accessible to you, of the type that you want to play. To top it off, we've also included a 'Featured' tab, which picks out the best content that RuneScape has to offer that's suited to your levels, so you're never short of awesome content to experience.

    Have fun!

The following small fixes and adjustments have now been made to the game. If you spot any further bugs in-game, please use the Bug Report feature.

  2. I've also heard there is a liklihood of being temp-banned for using mousekeys, based on how Botwatch bans. Anyone hear anything more into this? All I heard of this was a friend ask a J-mod, and the J-mod saying if you get temporarily banned, you'll know not to do it again.

I don't really get any xp in RS, so it doesn't bother me. Just the same, as long as everyone is treated equally in the regard I don't mind. I simply felt that maybe I could save someone a temp-ban if there is some truth to this. Thanks for any details.

  3. Turmoil is less useful in EOC than in the live game based on current information. Bones stand to increase in price for a short while with the bot nuke (though many people have been holding billions worth to dump for months). The bones will then likely follow the usual mass drop, quick spike, and further drop. It'll be the dip and rise effect most items get on a quick movement in value. The bones should then drop in price even more when the lack of glamour prayer has to offer in EOC is realized.

However, the addition of new game content can easily change this.

  4. I'd be all for it. I had a similar suggestion (Rebooting Runescape) with both servers that reset on a timed basis, as well as fresh servers that simply began with the game now, as through it was anew (without some economic inconsistencies), However, I completely overlooked the possibility of perma-death servers.

As suggested, I feel that perma-death servers with vastly boosted xp rates would be extremely fun. It's the kind of game you can play over and over in different styles, trying new things without the fear of wasting a decade of your life. I'm definitely in support of this, and even willing to pay another separate membership for access.

  5. I couldn't put it much better than Kim and Spoofer originally stated. These barbie dolls are nothing to get overly excited over. This thread was amusing when I first thought it was a joke. I'm rather blown away that people are legitimately concerned over a skin tight peach coloured outfit that in some oddly twisted way could be contorted to resemble "skin". Oddly, no one ever complained about the all black skin-tight clothing options running around Runescape.

I remember guys having this "glitch" for ages, but saw no thread then. It's only now that female characters can take on the onion skin look that people are up in arms? Barbie gets all the love, but no one cares about Ken.

I've never seen a guy do this before tbh, when did it first become an option?

I believe it first began with Theliessa's shop upgrade to player character outfits. Sorry for the late reply, I can't often find time to get online.

  6. This is somewhat entertaining, however I feel that these hands from above are going to cause me all sorts of lag and blackscreening. The bots are actually going to affect me in a negative way, however it will be from one of Jagex's attempts to be entertaining.

Nice to see that they're actually talking about the bot issue now, and at least initially accomplishing some bot removal.

  8. I enjoy the new hunter D&D. It is by no means the best hunter xp in the game, however the few things I do in Runescape are for my enjoyment. Enjoyment is what it brings to me.

This September we seem to be getting more content than we have in the past 6 months. Good time to return, I suppose.

  9. Personally, all of mine are going into slayer, as there has been a variety of content the past couple years to speed up agility xp. I find slayer to be one of the biggest time wasters, so my xp goes there. Currently I'm on 90-96 slayer via lamps since February, and this next xp note accompanied by the daily SOF lamps shall allow me to attain 97.

If it wasn't for slayer, it would go into agility. That is what I suggest for you.

  10. The first noticeable bit of content since Runespan, and a lot of it. I'll actually happily pay for membership this month. Do my eyes decieve me? No SOF/Solomon RWT ramble in the BTS? Maybe Mod Mmg wasn't just spewing out vanquished hopes and dreams.

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems my mind now purposely tries to ignore the RWT'ing ways of Jagex. It's still there. :(

  11. Thanks for this. I started exploring the D&D yesterday, and I have to say that I really enjoy it.

I don't really see the point in Protea Flowers being rewards, as you can take so many from the game, but I guess it fills a reward slot. I had been saving my tickets, as I was unsure how they worked. Your guide cleared that up for me.

I don't suppose dropping Protea Flowers on the ground does anything to attract the moths?

Also, have you found anything in regards to a maximum ticket limit?

  12. I like that they've finally released a few words in regards to the negative direction the game has taken this year.

I suppose they couldn't have rightfully said during the beginning of the year that there will be minimumal updates for the next 12 months due to the movement of our resources, as they'd experience everyone cancelling membership for a year... However, I would have liked to have been thrown a bone a bit earlier than the 3rd quarter of 2012.

If these promises prove to be worthy, I may just have to dust off my keyboard, and play Runescape with some enthusiasm. However, if these words are merely dust in the wind, I imagine there will be a price to pay.

In the end I will either respect Jagex for what they're attempting to do (as mentioned in MMG's post), or know that the majority of RS was right in bashing them. Time will tell.

  13. I'd like to add that while wearing the Pendant of Construction and trading in Long Bones/Curved Bones to Belak in Dorgesh-Kaan, you do recieve the bonus experience. I didn't have a Pendant of Crafting on me, but I'd imagine it works in a similar manner.

Hopefully this will be a helpful addition to a future skill/pendant guide.

  14. I've had a fairly successful sleep pattern for a while now. I go to bed at 10-10:30 and get up at either 6 or 7 depending on my work shift. I wouldn't be able to do it without Dave though, he has to drag me out of bed every morning. I need my sleep, I'm not a morning person. I used to go to bed at all sorts of hours but living with someone else helps to forge a routine and I've had far less problems getting to sleep since I've developed a proper sleeping pattern.

My girlfriend is actually the same way. I've always hated mornings unless I approach them from behind. Since I've been with her, I'm actually in bed by midnight (unless it's a weekend), and up by 7. I've always liked to have under 7hrs of sleep, elsewise I ironically feel tired in the morning. It's always great to see the positive influences that your better half has on you.
