  1. Hi, usually I'm very content to read the weekly tip.it articles and maybe browse through some forum comments on them. Usually, I'm quite satisfied with the quality of the articles as well. It's been a very passive source of entertainment to me, but Article #1 is just driving me crazy enough to make me recover my tip.it account from '04 and post here. Writing style: From what I saw, that's fine. Good job. It got me and kept me engaged for sure. Content: Very frustrating to me as a reader. In a one-line summary, the article basically said to me, "what's so good about 2006, just give up now because Jagex will never roll back to those days." The question itself is fine per se, but there's a critical part missing to this. Paragraphs 1-3 Ok, author sets up a question with 2 parts: "what is so good about 2006" and "why do they keep talking about it". At this point of the article, it looks like the author will touch upon the "why". Then what's my problem? I'm still waiting on the author's take of the 1st part. Paragraph 6 Ok, I've read down to paragraph 6 so far... still waiting on the "what". "Why" has been answered sufficiently. But really, what the heck WAS so great about 2006 that I don't know about that must mean so much to some people? (I was on a RS break during 2006 so this question drives me even more insane with curiosity and doubly frustrating that it's not answered by the half-way point of the article) Paragraph 8 Ok, so I understand that the author is arguing "while 2006 may have been a source of good times for some players, it's time to recognize that RS still has been fantastic since 2006 all the way to 2011, and the beauty of the gaming experience and the game itself is how it is constantly evolving with new content." Now my mind is screaming: I DON'T KNOW WHAT MADE 2006 SUCH A MEMORABLE YEAR FOR PLAYERS SO I CAN'T FOLLOW THE AUTHOR'S COMPARISON OF "WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT RS NOW" TO "WHAT WAS BEFORE IN 2006"... I WAS NOT GIVEN A BASIS... AHHHHHHHH!! Paragraph 9 T_T What a kicker to all the teasing throughout the entire article. I am at a loss and there are 3 possibilities here that I can guess at as a reader: Author is assuming all readers know "what's so good about 2006" already, Author does not know "what's so good about 2006", Author just forgot to mention it. If... 1. Assuming is bad, especially with an audience as wide-ranged as tip.it's readers. 2. Then please, please, please state earlier on that the author does not exactly know "what's so good about 2006", or at least say, "this is the author's guess at what some players cannot let go of 2006". 3. T_T -Thanks for reading, and thanks for the articles so far. Like I said, I do enjoy reading them quite a bit.
  2. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  3. =\ I used to help out people. Made them armors, showed them around, taught them where to go fish and bank, taught them where to train for certain levels, gave them some emergency money(usually about 20k). I helped because when I was level 3 and spawned in Lumbridge with no freaking clue of where to go or what to start with, a kind person took me under his wings and showed me how to do complete quests, made me armors, and told me where to train. Now? I stopped. I picked out this girl who asked me for 10g to get into Karamja. I made her full steel, showed her barb village fishing place and even fished with her to help her gather food before I showed her where to train. I had to go for the day so I made sure she knew how to go back and forth from the fishing place and bank in edgeville and left her with 1400 feathers, telling her to stock up on her fish. I came back the next day and asked her how many fish she had caught/cooked. Her answer....? Grand total 19. Her fishing/cooking/woodcutting/firemaking levels were high enough to stock up on enough trouts and salmons, and I had given her 1400 feathers! I asked her what happened to the 1400 feathers and she said, " I don't know". I wanted to bang my head against the wall. =\ She then asked for another full steel set and 40k. I got so annoyed that I just left. Never helped anyone after that. Never before this did I think helping people was a waste of time. =\
  4. k. -Members?: No -Tradeable?: No -Weight: 1kg -What it does: Gives EXP (equalling to 15*skillLVL of choice) to any skill, much like the genie's lamp. -How to get it: Complete the Mr. Mordaut Exam from MOM. -Examine Info: Educate Yourself. *Notes: You are given the option of "destroying" the book. The option asks you, "If you drop this book it will be destroyed. You cannot replace it. Yes, or no?"
  5. 0 J-mods, maybe about 4 or 5 P-mods all at different times.
  6. Last I checked, "Book of Knowledge", which is the reward item for completing MOM's Mr. Mordaut random event, was missing from the Item database. I lost the screenshot I had of it, hopefully someone else will be able to get one. :s Anyway, the book can't be banked like the genie lamp, can't be traded, is not members only, and when used it gives you exp to whichever skill you choose (just like the genie lamp).
  7. My friend and I admitted that to any player, his/her account's economic well-being is something that's desired universally. Almost no one can have too much gold on runescape. The more, the better! So here's a question for you: How much do you have right now? And of course, what was the most you've ever had? What did you do with all that gold?!
  8. Yeah, you are given exactly that at the beginning. You don't need to do anything with them though, when I got them, I ate them on the spot. Quest didn't require me to use them on anything.
  9. Quest name: Holy Grail Suggestion: For step 2, I think you should mention that the crone will interrupt you when you talk to the high priest. If you don't ask her about the whistles, the whistles fail to show up even if you have the Holy Table Napkin in your inventory. Also you could clarify that you must enter the south room on the third floor to find the whistles. --- Quest name: Royal Trouble Suggestion: Change to 2 ropes because you need 1 rope to fix the Lift, and another to make the rope swing. You can take the plank off the list, since you can obtain it conveniently on the way (as directed in the quest guide). It would probably good to mention that only a normal plank will work in the quest. I tried to get across with an oak plank, but it didn't work. I'm not sure if it's the same with other types of planks. --- Quest name: Shades of Mort'ton Suggestion: The guide mentions using 208 on the citizens in the notes section. Maybe it'd be better to note how to make Serum 208 first (getting sanctity 20%, then using Serum 207 on the Sacred Flame). The directions are a bit vague, you could make the general store as the reference point and say the doors are due North of the general store on the side of a hill. --- Quest name: Wanted! Suggestion: The guide says Sir Amik Varze is on the 2nd floor. I count the ground floor as the first floor, so Sir Amik Varze would be on the 3rd floor. I guess 2nd floor would be correct though, if you count ground floor as 0, then climbing the stairs for the 1st floor.. =x I dunno how you counted that one. --- Quest name: Sea Slug Change: There's no option for "shout-over crates", you can simply click on Kennith to talk to him.
  10. The evil rooster was taken a back when the dead, watery goo of the slain noob revealed a note in a bottle. Interested, he cocked his head to the side and wondered if it would be safe to pick it up.
