  1. I've seen a lot of people complain about not being able to make money from the skill, and that actually surprises me :) I don't look at everything in the game as a way to make money, I look at it all as a form of fun :) It's a game after all, and games are supposed to be fun! I'm having fun building my house, albeit slowly, as I don't have a lot of money, but money really isn't important to me int he game :) I do think that it needs to tie in to other skills a little more, there's the potential there for people to be able to make their own planks (maybe a quest that allows you to use the sawmill yourself? If not tied in with woodcutting or fletching?) you can already make your own cloth, even fine cloth, maybe that should be able to be used? And would be a wonderful way to use farming more effectively! Making beautiful gardens! The people that are spending 500 per plank now, would still be paying, cos for whatever reason, they find it better to overpay, than to take the few minutes out to cut wood and get them turned into planks, so it would effectively still be a "money drain" to those rich enough to not care if they overpay - while letting some of the not so rich *work* their way to a ncier house :) Oh, I do think it would be nice if there was a version of this for f2p also, not sure how they would do it, a few pre-made packages or soemthing? Really don't know how it would be able to be worked, but it would be nice :) Overall, I'm loving the new skill - just so much fun! :D
  2. Rinoa, I haven't had time to look properly yet, or try to learn it myself, but this site http://purl.oclc.org/phpmix/guides/How_ ... _signature seems to be the one that bored used, and looks to me (from a *very* quick glimpse through) to have enough info, and links to other places, that it should all make sense once I have time to go through it properly :) Please post here agin if you manage to "get it" before I do! :D
  3. This is a really interesting thread :D My husband and I met online through a gaming site, he's from Spain, and I'm from Australia :) Unfortunately he doesn't play RS (yet - I'm working on it ;) LOL!) but I'm sure he'd love it once he starts! There's a whole lot of reasons for that. Sitting beside each other in a room, playing the same game ont he PC can be a lot of fun, and you can make both RL and the game more fun by doing so, in a whole lot of ways ;) Friendly competing in game, with prizes awarded IRL can be fun ;) It's no different than sitting watching a DVD or TV together :) Hubby and I play together on the Xbox as well as all the other "normal couple" things we do together, it's just a hobby, to fill in spare time :) The one thing I don't get about RS couples, is the way someone will go up to someone they never even spoke to before, and do the whole "will you be my gf/bf?" thing - that leaves me switching between laughing out loud, and sitting shocked when someone actually says yes! And then the expectation that the guy will be giving the girl so much of his "stuff"! Just weird to me :P Edit: Just for the people that are really sceptical about this kinda thing, neither hubby nor myself were looking, or interested in finding someone online, in fact we spent ages when first chatting paying out the people that we knew that "thought they had fallen in love" online, because, after all, we're both logical, rational people, and we KNOW it isn't possible :P ... yes, we laughed at ourselves too - still do ;)
  4. _k0m0d0_ and namename, as I said, more than once, I KNOW it is hard, I still want to learn how to do it, thankyou. I don't need you to tell me it's hard, or will take a long time, I know this. *Obviously* it is actually possible, or there wouldn't BE siggy's that do it :P If you were actually able to lock this thread, and did, you would be totally abusing your power, since I am not the one in here making useless bumps, and totally uncalled for flames and rude comments. I wasn't *begging* anyone for help, I was asking if anyone had any tips on how to do a thing... I want to LEARN. I don't get what's so hard about that for anyone to understand? bored321, you are a legend :D Thanks so very much :D When Googling I found a couple of things that sounded right, the PHP with GD was one, but there was also a page talking about javascript and dynamically updating images :) As I said, I have webspace I can use, and am almost certain I am able to use PHP on my space :) After reading the page on PHP/GD, it sounds like it actually won't take a lot of time to learn (fortunately) but even if it does, it will be fun to learn PHP, always nice to add a new skill to my own personal list ;)
  5. I'm bumping this up, cos I'd really like to know too :) I'm trying google to find out how to do dynamic images, but if anyone knows of a good tutorial out there, or even a webpage where to start, please let me know :) I don't care how hard it is to do, I have webspace to use, and enjoy learning stuff like this, so if anyone can help at all, please do! :)
  6. I don't think I can agree with either of your first two suggestions My account that I play on daily, is level 3, 480 levels total (I think), so if either of your first two suggestions were brought in, I wouldn't be able to mine ess any more. Getting to 500 levels total, *especially* when f2p is a lot more difficult if you choose not to play using combat at all. I certainly wouldn't survive against level 25 monsters :P I do agree that f2p members have been gipped with this, all existing ess should've been changed to pure ess. But some of your suggestions would also prove impossible for genuine low level players to keep on mining ess, and would be just as unfair on them, as this solution has been on people.
  7. I was really pleased when I found a group of "older" players on the RSboards :P Had had so many people ask me my age, and when I replied, call me a sicko, or pervert, and run off, and it was starting to annoy me beyond belief :P Still get told to "get a life" everynow and then, in fact yesterday when someone posted to us to "get a life" on the boards, I replied with this: Cos you know, I'm really very happy with my life :) And I really really enjoy my time on RS :) And I LOVE that there's so many "older" players playing the game :)
