  1. Great article. I'm going to have to believe that that was an actually in game note since the author said it appeared in his inventory. I guess I'll just have to wait 'til is confirmed. It would be cool to have another god I suppose. This one, according to the article, is a step above even Zaros. Oh, btw, the way I've heard and/or seen it, there are levels to the gods. Zamorak, Saradomin, and Guthix seem to be on one level, the lowest level. According to some theories I've heard, Guthix is also on the next level with Zaros and Armadyl (sp?) but has been severely weaked since the God War. Apparently, this new god is on the next level, (unless of course this is just fan fiction.) Anyway, the prospect of even more powerful spells really just seems to point to fan fiction anyway, because the Ancient Magicks just are really powerful enough.
  2. Great article. I have never used the customer support and hopefully will never really have to do so. I am always keeping my eyes open and I have only been hacked once. (Fortunately, it was when I was low lvl and only had a few items of value.) Even then, I did not visit customer support. I simply picked up the pieces and continued on. Now I'm more cautious, but more experienced. Most players don't understand: this is a game. If you were playing any regular, single-player console game and died and lost things, who would go to to whine? There is no customer support in those games. They seem to think that if there is someone to report it to, then they go talk about every little indecency in the game. Listen, it's one thing to report a person who scammed you out of full dragon. That's fine. But reporting a person for scamming because they picked up your arrows is just stupid. I can only imagine what customer support will look like when the crowd has died down, and Runescape is down to its most loyal supporters. I'm sure that will be the cushiest job at Jagex then. Listen to a couple bug complaints a day. No problem. It's coming people. The question is: When?
  3. *Sigh* I suppose that the "Freedom of the Press" does go a bit to far sometimes. I mean, everyone has a right to privacy as well. And if you go that far, everyone has a right to a fair explaination too. Andrew proved this when he replied to that topic last week. He quickly explained that all the mistakes had been, or were in the process of, being corrected, and that they have a ban appeal section for just that sort of problem. Even so, Jagex did go a bit to far threating legal action. It was nothing to get worked up about. It was an article representing the paranoia of getting banned. It is something even I am worried about sometimes. Although Tip.It says they did not take the article off because of Jagex's threat (I never did see a solid reason), it doesnt' change the fact that they made the threat. One thing Jagex did not see about the article, was it's power to actually control the rule breaker's of Runescape. I figure that the majority of Runescape players use Tip.It. I also figure most of them read the Tip.It Times. I for one, if I were a little more naive, would be scared out of my mind of getting banned. Because of that fear, I would never think of breaking rules (a lot of them anyway). The article, in my opinion (I do still have that right), would have helped Jagex's rule policy, instead of any harmful effects it may have had on the rules as they probably were thinking. Even so, libel is illegal. The article last week was a bit biased and it may have hurt Jagex's reputation a tiny bit. Even so, Jagex could simply explain it on their home page, instead of posting on the Tip.It forums where few people would see it. I am not ashamed at Jagex or the author more than I am ashamed at Tip.It. They crumbled under pressure, and to set up a defence against many complaints on the take-down, they wrote this article. It really was an un-needed article, when there were many more important things to discuss this week such as the Knowledge Base and the 100th quest. I don't mean to offend Tip.It, but I am pretty sure most people understand why you took it down.
  4. Even it was to get rid of fansites (which I thought it was at first, but have since disregarded the thought) it is a pathetic attempt to do so. All I know is that it won't do me any good to go on there, because it doesn't really have the stuff I need (Good maps with all monsters, respawns, etc.) in it. I will just keep using Tip.It and other help sites until they shut down or I quit. P.S. All it really is is just an updated playing manual...that's it.
  5. i'm pretty sure it is a client server, and it doesn't have to be a hotspot anyway. If you have a computer with DSL then you buy a $20 USB plugin for the computer and it uses that connection. The Revolution will work the same way.
  6. I'm afraid that is exactly what they are trying to do. I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but Jagex may be unbiased banning to get a lot of people to quit. May it is to scare off the noobs, I don't know. But the population explosion in RS has gotten uncontrollable, and this may just be Jagex's plan to curb the problem.
  7. No no no no no no no no no no no no no no. Not on the Xbox or 360 anyway. The best place for RS to go is on the Nintendo DS. Wireless access. Reasonable amount for development kit. Easy transfer from keyboard and mouse to the touch screen. It just makes sense. It might not be a console but it's close enough. And even then, it doesn't have to be Java brower they have to use. They could start from scratch or sumthing to figure out how to transfer the graphics to the system. Also you could still have F2P because there is no subscription fee to the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. And if you have to have it on a console, it could also go on the Nintendo Revolution. The controller would make the game extra fun(anyone want to swing a dragon battle axe?) It is also no subscription fee on there either. Then Jagex would only charge about $10-$20 because the development costs are down. Oh well, it's up to Jagex.
  8. The whole is offensive name things is stupid anyway. Someone could have the name "Jesus is my homeboy" or "Godkicksyour's" and an atheist who plays the game could find it offensive. Just because I say the D-word doesn't mean that everbody gets offended by it. It's just the [developmentally delayed]s who have to whine about every little thing just to be politically correct.
  9. Pretty soon Jagex will pass the Runescape Sedition Acts, where anything you say bad about Jagex in or out of the game is an automatic ban. Jeez, I guess we will have to break away from England yet again. ;)
  10. Great article. I have my own little thing to add to it as well. It also seems Jagex is biased against people who report abuses. I myself have made obscene words appear against many people. I'm sure at least one of them reported me. However I did not get a single warning from Jagex until about 7 months ago. I had just come back from an unsucessful PKing campaign (in other words I was in Lumbridge) when I saw several high lvl players, including the top ranked player, having a party because this top ranked player had just hit 99 crafting. I added several names to find out what was going on because I had no idea at that point. One of the names was a player mod(he had a silver helmet) and asked him. Flash forward a few months. He was still on my list. My friend had just passed me in total level. I opened my friends list to send him a hate message including the 'D-word' but sent it to the mod by mistake. I immediately deleted him but I did not worry about it. The next day, I opened the game and it my box said I had one unread message. I logged out and checked and of course it was a warning for offensive language. I knew who it was that had done it right away. Of course, I have watched my language since then, but this shows the fact that really and truly, Jagex only accepts reports from high levels and mods.
  11. That was a great article, but how to deal with the "Greed Factor" was not stressed enough. The only true way to deal with this is to find the cause and crush it. The way I see it, it comes from on obvious place: the new players(mostly the players who came in during 2005). I myself am a fairly new player (Sept. 11 2004), and am lvl 89 and 1272 tl. I am not in the "loop" of most high lvl members. I am not in a clan. I do not have one piece of dragon armor or barrows armor. Many would say I am a sorry member. I say that they are more out of touch with Runescape today than most people. How many time has this happened to you high lvl dragon armor types: Dragon Armor player walks into seers and sees 2 lvl 30s arguing over addy armor. Lvl 30.1: It's only 20k for a platebody!!!!(I have no clue what true price is, it's just for an example.) Lvl 30.2: No it's 30k!!!! Lvl 30.1: Nuh uh you stupid n00b. Wait til you come into the wild. I'll pwn you. Drag armor player: Shut up both of you!!!!! Addy plate is worth like 40k and it's not even worth it. If you were really smart you'd get a nice paying job/skill and get some rune or something. Stupid noobs. Ok that might not have happened too much to you, but I have seen it happen. Basically the greed factor stems from new players as I said. 30.2 was tryin to get 30k for the plate, while 30.1 was arguing that it was only 20k. Now most of the high lvls would say that that was just pocket change and truly it is...to you. To lvl 30s, 20-30k is a months worth of hard work. The truth is, basic economics go into the game. The price matches or is slightly above production costs. If it takes a lvl 30 a month to make items to sell, then he will want as much money as he wants, because he sacraficed time. Basically, the new players control most common item prices because of the "Greed Factor" The prices no longer match the production cost of the item. I still remember a time when bowstings were the good ol' 100 gp apiece. Now they are nearing 200 gp each. And it is because of the "Greed Factor" and the lack of stubborness in the game that causes this inflation of prices. The new player will charge more, and because everyone eventually gives into the price, the price stick and the player thinks he can get away with anything price-wise. The only true way to stop this problem is to not give in so easily to price gouging. Try to work the person down and if it doesn't work don't buy from him. There are more fish in the sea, as the classic love line goes. Only this time the fish are sellers and there are a lot more of them out there. Til' later. Dwee~
  12. Oh nice. That is a great idea. Add me on defintely. I would love the bank to do that.
