  1. Well, good luck when your supplies run out. We'll be laughing from our self-sustained superbase.
  2. Unless you've got an antique kantana use by the Samurai, then chances are its a mass produced piece of crap, or a cerimonial blade which is just as bad. not mass produced, hand crafted. its not ceremonial or a peice of crap though, and would easily be capable of decapitating hundereds of zombies. Just because its hand crafted doesn't mean its a good standard of a blade. What metal is it made from? When guns came around, we lost almost all skill in making bladed weapons such as katanas.
  3. You can shoot his hands and feet though. More blood to attract them.
  4. I'd say piss on him, but thats a step too far methinks. Bolded the important part. You kill them, you don't attract them to a piece of fresh(ish) meat.
  5. Only if I get to fire wildly in the air to attract more zombies.
  6. Unless you've got an antique kantana use by the Samurai, then chances are its a mass produced piece of crap, or a cerimonial blade which is just as bad.
  7. Theres one problem with Alaska for us too. ITS [bleep]IN' FREEZING! Honestly, Alaska fails hard. Hard to get food supplies which means we'd be making frequent plane trips to other countries for supplies, and we can't say how long it would take the zombies to completely stop in Alaska, maybe they can't feel cold and will keep moving as long as possible, they're bound to have more tolerance than us. I'm still saying the middle of nowhere in the countryside is the best idea so far. Do you think Lenin would let us inside his robot? I'd ban the use of that, he'd probably kill us all for the fun of stomping on smaller things.
  8. Mainly because we'd need to start years in advance. Get a [cabbage] load of technology to make us able to live down there, and have people able to maintain them. And wheres the fun hiding underground when there's zombie scum to obliterate?
  9. Hot Air Balloons are harder to control. We'd need alot of advanced gear, and gas. Overall, I don't see Hot Air Balloons working that well.
  10. Well, theres always the chance that we can have 4 pilots co-ordinating and willing to jack an airbus for us. Though really, it is very unlikely. Sure, if we got a piece of land out in the country secured, then we'd be almost set, choose a very sparsely populated area so we can essentially build a big enough wall if we have enough people in order to stop the Zombies from reaching us. We'd need a few durable, heavy duty metal doors for when we have to make an excursion out, or use a rope ladder like thing. Essentially, we'd need a big [wagon] area in order to support 1000 people, with a ratio of 2:1 building walls and defending, high as 4:1 in earlier, quieter times. Once the wall is build, we'd need to focus on building lookout towers. A helicopter would be great if we could aquire one, it could be sent out for building materials. We'd need people to run a school, that teaches people to read and write, along with the basics of survival, start training them in first aid and small firearms when they reach 10, teach them to use larger firearms as 15. We'd also need to designate everyone a job, and really, you might not get the job you want, you could want to be a lookout, but you're going to be a farmer instead. Also, we'd need to condition younger ones so that they fit perfectly into the job we have planned for them at an early age. Those designated to be scouts/members of scav teams would need to be trained to use bicycles for long periods at a speed if needed, and have alot of stamina. Those destined to be lookouts would need to be taught the basics in recognising a threat, and a potential member of another colony. I think that a wall should be about 3 feet thick, and around 7 feet high. Thats taller than alot of people and should be able to withstand an attack if done right. Of course, the area would have to have a source of running water to grow crops, provide drinking water (duh), and if it is fast enough flowing, provide kinetic energy to provide some electricity. Essentially, we'd pretty much be along the basics of a War-time rule, with rationing of food, and people keeping those responible for food supplies in check to make sure they aren't hoarding more for themselves. We'd need leaders that just about everyone has agreed upon, those capable of planning out the best way to use our land, though the leaders will still be required to do manual labour, or do a pre-assigned job. They'd be just like everyone else, though they would have the final say in matters of our defence.
  11. True, the chances of us aquiring 4 airbuses is pretty slim. Essentially, a large building that we feel that no-one will use would be a good alternative, though unable to hold as many people and supplies. We can pretty much rule out using ground floors as they are pretty much just inviting the zombies to attack everyone assuming they can use stairs/drag themselves up stairs. So we'd need a higher building than a school. A large department store with 5+ floors (including ground of course) pretty much gives us 4+ usable floors of space (well 5+ if you include the roof). Essentially, we could link multiple buildings via a rope, which gives us access to more, though has the drawback of only being able to take limited supplies across at once, but has 24h access. I'd still reccomend making a farm like area on roofs though, for the purpose of growing some food, which we will need to do eventually.
  12. Yeah, we really need a good summary of all the planning.
  13. But grounded planes are small, with only one way out. You need storage space, to avoid trips out into the open, and some sort of emergency escape. I say we just find an abandoned building. Depends on the size of the plane. Essentially, I'm talking about one of the bigger ones. An abandoned building wouldn't be that good, for one, we'd need to gain control of it at right at the beginning in order to set up a good enough defence, and you want to try getting the people who decided to stay and fortify in there to leave? If we worked on hte plane enough, removing seats and such, we'd have more space, and if we have someone who is capable, get rid of almost all electronics in order to provide yet more storage space. Assuming it is a plane for transport mainly cargo, then don't they have a part at the back which opens up? We'd need something that could really withstand a fall for the scav teams to go out in. A building can essentially prove our downfall, a number of things can go wrong when you try getting out to look for supplies. And referring to the grounded boat idea, its also no good, any damage to the hull which is not repaired in time is going to prove to be our downfall by making it impossible to go to the lower levels, leaving them and any supplies down there locked off, and eventually zombies might breach our defences if they attacked in a great enough force. And anyway, we could use more than one plane, connected to each other by a covered walkway and we have our perfect place for a community. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A380 Lets say we can aquire and connect 4 of those, that means alot of space, does it not? And lets face it, we'd have a large enough community perhaps. Only problem I see is getting a scav team back into the plane, access to a crane could prove useful, mounted on top of the aircraft. As for the curfew, I'd say that they'd only have daylight hours, which honestly, makes alot more sense. Say we gather about 100 people from here, and each of those brings 9 others. Thats 1000 people, which is about the size of a small village, and realistically, we'd have more than enough space. One Airbus A380 can hold around 800 people max. Theres a hell of alot of room spare for more people, realistically I'd say a population of 2000 may be supportable if we can get the food, electricity and water. Generators, small wind turnbines and solar panels can help with the electricity, and a water purification system would be helpful, in a pinch. In a perfect world, we could make a platform over 4 jets in order to help grow food, assuming the virus only affects humans. We'd have a supply of meat and crops, as long as we could get water to it. Building a huge wall is not practical, by the time we are warned of the zombies, we wouldn't have enough time to build a large enough one and assemble everyone. [bleep]e pits are useless, as shown by the zombie wikia (somewhere) eventually, the zombies would take up too much space on the [bleep]es, providing a walkway, a mine filled pit would make it deeper, though they would need to be spaced out and greatly measures so not to compromise the ground under our living place.
  14. However, in a pinch, Cricket Bats are more durable than baseball bats. And really, any makeshift spear you make is going to be fairly light, its essentially a knife on the end of a broom handle or something, I'd suggest against a metal pole, as you can't use hollow ones which may bend easily, and a long metal rod would weigh alot more than would be worth it. Chainmail isn't actually too heavy, it was designed for battle and to withstand heavier swords and arrows, and I don't think it makes too much noise, its not alot of dangling chains, imagine wearing a belt that is essentially a chain, it doesn't make alot of noise, and all the links in chainmail are attached together so they don't make too much noise, and really, its only if the zombies reach us when we are stationary and defending, we're more likely to attract more zombies by firing at them (save crossbows and silenced pistols). Honestly, I feel our best defence would actually be a grounded plane that has been reinforced to withstand alot more punishment, prefferably one that still has its landing gear up, for the extra raise. Buildings would be okay, but honestly, I feel that it would waste supplies that can be used against zombies taking out the first sets of stairs, and not to mention that zombies could get up while we were destorying them. Oh and I don't reccomend sub-machine guns at all really, they are essentially pistols with a faster rate of fire, that is in bursts which could be good due to some recoil, more chance of hitting the head, but in the end, they use up more ammo than a carefully aimed shot with a pistol, and really, a semi-automatic pistol fires are fast as you can pull the trigger, which is honestly more than enough. (All this planning makes me almost wish for a zombie outbreak)
  15. Honestly, I don't think having a designated Medic would help much. Generally, the people who know first aid should teach others some basic first aid aswell. Assuming the virus transfers through bodily fluid contact, then chances are, you're infected if you are bitten. Lets pray the virus is not transfered by air (or we're all eventually screwed) or water. Looking through the zombie wikia, I've found the (almost) perfect setup. Chainmail armour would be best of course, however, is now a rarity to find, and few if any have the skill to make it I expect. So I'd assume Police Riot gear if we can get our hands on it would be best if we are remaining mainly stationary, and moving via bus/whatever to get supplies. Failing that, motorcycle gear. The best secondary firearm would be a Revolver, as they can not jam, though the small clip size is a draw (6 rounds), and take longer to reload. For times when you need to move an shoot, thats when you should use a semi-automatic pistol such as a 9mm. Perhaps the .44 Magnum would be better for its longer range. Instead of knives, I suggest we use makeshift spears, for the longer reach, with a machete for when they get too close. For a Rifle, I suggest that there is one person with a bolt action rifle who is picking off zombies, with someone with an Assualt Rifle supporting him if the Zombies get too close. I say Bolt Action over Semi-Automatic since generally speaking, 1 shot is enough to take down a zombie with a headshot, scope making this even easier. Shotguns aren't reccomended, though if we are to have anything, a 20-guage would be better for its lower recoil, and well, a 12-guage probably has about the same range, with more recoil and larger ammo. For the Scav teams, I'd say a silenced 9mm with a crossbow would be effective if they wish to avoid conflict, as these weapons are alot quieter. For blunt weapons, crowbars and tire irons work well, and are useful, though I'd say we take a few cricket bats aswell. Explosives, well we should generally avoid these unless we have someone with the skill to create a pipe bomb safely, or the skill to use grenades well.
  16. Well, if we pick up a plane early enough, we can deal with any infected, and land it in a deserted area, hopefully with some transport waiting. And honestly because of the plane's height from the ground, it makes it a bit easier to defend when the zombies can't get to you. Though we have the problem of needing to fortify the plane if we plan on staying in an area and using it as our place of defence.
  17. Get to work building that thing ;). Part of me is incredibly tempted to make a thread for applicants to join our tip.it zombie survival group (I won't of course). In total I believe the group shall be twelve people as sworddude suggested earlier on, I may have to edit this post a few times so we can fill those spaces. :twss: The tip.it zombie survival group/task force: Leader: Me ;). Crazed gun wielding zombie killer: Sniper: Dragoonson Driver: Mage_man0103 Guy who can use a sledgehammer: Pack mule: Zoe from l4d: Guy looking for cure: Smart quiet guy who ends up going crazy: Mmmcannibalism Hot female of child bearing age: Cool guy in leather jacket who smokes a cigarette whenever something blows up: Lenticular_J Guy who scavenges for supplies: Riku3220 Quiet guy who is most likely to get the most amusement from shooting zombies: Sworddude198 Feel free to join any space not taken. :twss: Added a space and myself. Honestly, I think it would be best if we met up somewhere we can all easily access, and those with the easy access to weapons and ammo bring them with them. Or we say [bleep] it and head to America for the guns then we all move elsewhere if we have a certified pilot.
  18. I also think it would generally a good idea to have someone who can handle heavier, blunt weapons. If these zombies are capable of climbing ladders, then someone strong enough to use a sledgehammer would be an assest there because the sheer force of the hit should both kill the zombie, and throw him down, hopefully taking a few more to the ground with him. Assuming we can't find a cure, we have to make sure we are capable of killing one who is infected, then either cremating him/her (what I'd go for) or throwing the body into the zombie masses (alcohol soaked clothing lit on fire of course). Throwing knives might make a good assest, despite being single use until you can pick them out the zombie's head safely enough. And everyone should have at least 1 9mm pistol. 2 if they are capable of firing two at once without hamerping accuracy all that much. That, and the 9mm would be perfect if we had to kill one of our own who is infected, unless you want to slit their throat with a knife, or hack the head off, but a 9mm shot through the brain would be the quickest way. And dude, being drunk is not a good idea when you are surrounded by the masses of zombies. Though some should be kept for drinking in celebration once we are all done and safe (that and we'd burn the cheap crap first).(And I'm not suggesting that we burn good old Scottish whiskey.) Which makes me wonder, could zombies get high? A few makeshift smoke grenades made with marijuana smoke might prove effective if they can.
  19. Well, I see where you are coming from about basements and stairs now. Though when it comes to food, I'd say we only take tinned stuff, as it lasts the longest. Save frozen food which actually needs to be kept frozen. I think, a team of at least 12 would be best, with 6 awake during the day, and 6 at night. Between 12, I'd say 3 buses, with 4 in each bus, two sleeping, one driving and one providing defence with a mounted weapon, preferably 2 Mounted LMGs and 1 Mounted Flamethrower incase of an attack of birds during the day, with the flamethrower having 360 degree turning capability and being in the middle. Of course, for every 4 more survivors, you should have another bus, following the pattern. Buses should have all windows removed and replaced with a durable metal grill. Since alcohol is flammable, I suggest using that as an incendiary instead of fuel which we'd need for transport. Cylinders of natural gas should be taken in order to cook for (camping stoves).
  20. Actually, if the basement only has one narrow enterence, then it is a pretty easy place to defend. I'd agree on destroying the stairs if they are wide, however, creating a choke point at them can be an effective way of dealing with any that get in the building leaving less danger during the day. No point in surviving the night if you are going to be ambushed during the day. Being mobile with a flamethrower isn't generally a good thing anyway, if you are in one place, then its easier to alert the birds to where you are, making it easier to burn them. Two people with flamethrowers standing back to back would be the best idea as it allows easier coverage of all angles. Hopefully the then burning birds will be able to set more alight. Molotov cocktails can be useful, and they can seriously hamper you. Using in a building would be a big no-no. However throwing them into the middle of a lot of zombies in say, a parking lot might be able to cause some damage to them.
  21. Nah, I've played some games including Zombies. (And saw the Resi films) Buildings with little or no windows are essential. Failing that, a Basement or roof make good defensive points. Generally, it is better to move during the day, and have alot of light at night. This can hamper the vision of the zombies as it would to a human, however, it is possible that they can smell the flesh of the living allowing them a basic route to where we are, though less likely to see things in their way in the light. Make sure lights are either infront, or behind you, and do not impair your own vision. If animals such as birds are able to be infected, then a flamethrower would be a must in order to deal with these winged pests. Other animals can be shot, though in the case of smaller rodents, stairs will greatly hamper them, but flamethrowers still essential in dealing with them as they are hard to hit due to size. Dogs have the advantage of speed, though are easier to hit than smaller animals. If you take out a zombie's legs, they can still drag themselves along the ground, however, this makes them even easier targets as they are slower. Advisable to take out one leg if you are not a good shot, as it is likely they will be unable to walk, making their head an easier target. If we assume these zombies are capable of climbing ladders, then fixed ladders will have to be taken down, and all ladders should be taken onto roofs if needed to access said roof, more than one ladder should be kept at all times, and remember to pull it up, since its a pain if you have to kick it down. Though can provide a good ambush if you want to smash some zombie heads once they appear.
  22. Zombie Outbreak could be fun. Though I often wonder where we would actually be heading to, I mean, we'd need a pilot, driver and someone able to use a boat in order to get anywhere, plus we'd need multiple modes of land transportation to carry fuel, ammo and food. I think the best place to head for would be a well built up area, as there would be many tall buildings, which are easier to defend. I.E. Barricade stairs (face it, zombies probably wouldn't be able to use elevators or ladders). But you would also need it able to hold stuff like buses we use for transport, making a supermarket more viable. As the buses could also be used to barricade any way for the zombies to enter, while we stick on the roof with two people guarding the way up there and the others picking off zombies until it is safer to move (assuming light weakens them slightly). Oh and its "You're" not "Your".
  23. Well, you're almost there. We'll take care of the scars. Then what are you sword? The knowledgable guy who ends up getting eaten in the first hour of the attack? :twss: Nah, the guy working on the cure for when you are first infected. That or the guy sitting on a chair with a Sniper Rifle taking down the zombies for fun, and shooting male zombies in the nads first to see what happens.
  24. Well, you're almost there. We'll take care of the scars.
