  1. The important thing to remember is that none of them are a push-over. Read multiple guides on each of them (Jagex has changed each of the bosses since DT came out and you don't want to got there with outdated information), figure out your attack strategy, take extra potions and top quality food (Sharks or Tuna Potatoes) and be prepared to tele if you get into trouble. Better to be over-prepared than to keep dying and losing your stuff each time.

  2. I agree that Jagex should not use this system for Resource gathering skills. Like you said, it's basically them asking you to do the skill for them and give them all the resources you gather. But if they didn't put it in there, somebody would still ask for it. Had a guy the other day ask to use my 86 Prayer :-s

  3.

Also, which attack style do you reccomend?

Gonna go ahead and suggest range to ya. :D

As in rapid or accurate :P

Also, if you use the spot near the entrance to Armadyl's Aerie, bring a zamorak item as well as a saradomin one <.< annoying vampires and pyrefiends wander there and spirit warriors don't always take care of them.

If you are using a crossbow, you should be using a Zammy Book. It's the best item to use in the Shield Slot for Range Bonus, it offers Prayer Bonus, and it takes care of Zammy monsters.

  4. I hope that this is because Jagex is realizing that we only like to do quests when they do one or more of the following:

    Open up a new area

    Unlock a new item

Give us lots of XP (especially in some of the more expensive/slower skills)

Actually I'm suprised at some of the quest opportunities that Jagex passed up. I thought for sure there would be a quest to access God Wars, and they even had the dying Knight that had a message for Sir Tiffy. And the same with the Barbarian Training earlier that gave us the Mithril Dragons (we had to do some steps, but it wasn't a quest).

  5. Like Tripsis said, Herblore is unique in that the end product only has value if you sell it to other players (stores buy pots for next to nothing).

As somebody taking the slow route to 99 Herblore, I'll tell you what I do with each Herb:

    Guams - worthless

Marrentill - I save these for Gilded Altars

Tarromin - I usually sell these

Harralander - I keep some on hand because they are so versatile, but I sell most of these

    Rannar Weed - Prayer Pots

Toadflax - Save these for Sara Brews. You will be glad that you did.

Irit Leaf - Super Antis are nice, but Unicorn horns are hard to come by. I mostly make Super Attack

    Avantoe - Super Energy

Kwuarm - Super Strength. Save all your Limps for these.

    Snapdragon - Super Restores

    Cadantine - Super Defense

Lantadyme - Mostly Anti-Fire, some Magic Pots

    Dwarf Weed - Range Pots

    Torstol - Zammy Brews

Most of this list may sound obvious, but it's tempting to use some of the other pots for faster leveling. But to me the extra level wasn't worth getting stuck with worthless pots and/or consuming valuable seconds.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on the skill, I strongly recommend doing Slayer. Slayer monsters are excellent Herblore providers and you can make all of your own pots for training.

  6. Jagex has always been listening to the players. The biggest thing they are doing now is going out of their way to point how much they listen to us.

For example - People buying Full Guthans were getting ripped off alot because people would offer a leaf-bladed spear instead of Guthan's Warspear. A lot of people lost 5M+ to this scam. When Jagex made the leaf-bladed spear untradeable it was the very last line in the "In other new section" of an update. Nowadays, Jagex would probably make a big production out of this and it would have it's own update and Jagex would let us know that they did this because of the people complaining after getting scammed.

  7. I'm P2P, and I've tried enchanting ruby necklaces and ruby rings, the same way I've enchanted sapphire and emerald items. I get the same " You haven't learned the scret" message on both.

Ruby Rings turn into Rings of Forging when enchanted. There are no restrictions for this enchantment so you shouldn't be receiving an error on the Rings.

  8. I wonder if some of those records can even be broken? Like with the Fletching and Herblore changes that have really slowed those skills down.

And gathering Genie Lamps for some of the really slow XP skills is pretty easy. Since they only give "quick" randoms while Red Chin hunting, I once got 11 Genie Lamps in about 3 hours.

  9. Heh remember me Berrakus? You were crying for me to leave "your world" remember? Hehe...oh and the thing about using Swordfishes to heal rather than have prayer on....I already stated that. See how long you were there, I'd think you'd have much more than that but whatever.

So politely asking you to hop to another world because we were on a slow spawning world is crying? I kept trying to explain to you that it's faster for everyone if you attack several at a time and stay under constant attack, but evidently you just couldn't grasp that concept. So you would go out of your way to attack some of the ones that I had attacked to get them on me and you were crying because I hadn't finished them off. It's such a pain dealing with noobs who are just out to annoy people who are trying to train efficiently.

  10. I have been trying this for the past couple of days and it's been working great. Been looking to train Range and Smithing and this a great way for both. Few things I discovered:

    1) Since your outfit is a mix/match of Range and Prayer gear, it would probably be best to have a chart of the available options and their Range/Prayer Bonus to help people make the best outfit they can. Small bonuses can make a big difference since these are long trips.

    2) You should note more about the Runes they drop. They drop 15 Air Runes, 30 Waters, and 11 Bloods at a time (not sure how many Natures and Chaos). These may sound small, but they add up. Most trips I leave with about 100 Bloods, 1000 Airs and 1500 Waters. At store prices, that's about an extra 100Kgp.

    3) They occasionally drop 5 Swordfish. When I get these drops, if the Aviansies are not aggressive, I attack the lower leveled ones with no prayer until I use up all the fish.

    4) There doesn't seem to be any difference in drop rate between the different level Aviansies so it's best just to stick with the lower leveled ones.

    5) As long as you get a single hit in on a monster, you will get the drop when that monster dies (as long as no other player attacks that monster). Several Zammy monsters attack the Aviansies (Pyrefiends, Bloodvelds, Goraks, etc) so if you find an Aviansie getting owned by a Zammy monster, get one shot in on the Aviansie, move on, and come back to collect your drop. Also, you can do this with some of the surrounding monsters, depending on your Slayer level. Some of the best are:

Bloodvelds - The Aviansie kill these guys pretty quickly and they drop Fire Runes, Blood Runes, and Rune Meds.

Spiritual Warriors - These guys don't die as often, but almost all of their drops are alchable, and they drop Rune Longs, Halberds, and Kites.

Spiritual Mages - These guys are often fighting with Werewolves. They drop small Runes quantities, but they drop the occasional Dragon Boots. Be careful with these guys because if you attack them when they are not fighting another monster, they will attack you and they can hit for 20+.

  11. Personally I think you are being too picky to level Slayer.

Turoths are pretty hard to do efficiently at your level so it was good to skip them.

As people mentioned, you don't have to be afraid of getting disconnected at Gargoyles anymore.

There's nothing wrong with Kurasks. You like to Range and there is a great safespot and Broad arrows are a lot easier to buy now.

Steel Dragons are hard to do at your level, so it was probably good to skip them.

Axe Man Jack made a mistake by saying to skip Spiritual Warriors. They are a great task. Easiest way to do them is to wear your normal melee gear and swap out the cape and necklace for a Zammy Cape and Holy Symbol or Sara Cape and Unholy Symbol. You don't want to swap out other spots or you will get mass attacked when you switch to Guthans to heal. When you first enter the dungeon, just go east and you will see several Sara Spirit Warriors to attack. They are usually engaged in combat so you can attack them without them attacking you back. There are a lot of other ways to do this assignment, but this should get you started and get you comfortable in the GWD.

  12. In a way skill capes were one of the smartest updates Jagex ever came up with. When it comes to skills where higher levels means that you unlock new abilities, Jagex doesn't like to max skills out at 99 anymore because they know that they will eventually become outdated and can't be expanded (take Smithing for example). So most people stopped at the level where you have mastered the skill (90 Crafting, 85 Farming, 82 Herblore, etc). With the skill capes, Jagex has given people a reason to go for 99 in these skills, while still keeping the skills open for high level expansion in the future.

  13. The only way to enjoy Slayer and train it efficiently is to find something positive about every task and an efficient way to kill them. Obviously that's a lot easier to do with some over others, but just use your imagination. If you just want to mindlessly kill the same monsters that you choose over and over, than don't do Slayer.

  14. Not sure how much (if any) the Yak Hides help as compared to normal armor, but if you are going to only fight the Runts then you don't need the quest shield. The shield is only to lessen the range impact from the Female Trolls. And the Honor Guards still help even after the quest and as long as you do any damage you will get the drop. You can even bring low level spells to draw the Runts over to the Guards.

The thing to be careful with this method is to always watch your HP. There will be a lot of fighting going on and occasionally the Runts will be attacking you and its easy to confuse all the Health Bars above everyone's head.
