Actually, there is a program (possibly multiple programs) that can do that. I've never had to use it, so I'm not sure what it's called, but it's out there. Also, you have to use it like right away or else your risk overwriting the lost file(s) (when you "permanently delete" something, all it does is remove all references to it and opens that space on your hard drive for new files to be put there). Not that it matters now, since I see you already found what you'd lost.
