A desperate question on F2P iron-mining...!

Featured Replies

I would like to ask which method would be faster and less insane (I hate dropping ores):

Mining iron in East Varrock and banking in East bank, or

Mining in Rimmington mine and selling to General Store, or

Pure coal-mining in Miner's Guild?

I am a level 97 F2Per whose bank just got clean-swept by an anonymous hacker, and trying desperately to reach 85 Mining in order to make a comeback by mining Runite.

In case you need to know, my mining level is 63 (Yes,I know it's low...)

Thanks a lot people! <3:

I'd say mining-guild so that you gain some money as well.

Owner of Quest Cape since 11/9/2007 23:30! Working my butt off to get it back.

The guild under fally would be your best bet. While coal is slower, it also has a higher profit.

Another option would be ess mining. While you cannot mine pure ess, I sense that there is a market for reg ess. Sure it is not a profitable as pure ess, but I'm seeing more and more people wanting to power level with air crafting--and a real lack of bulk ess on the market.

Mining and banking iron would be faster exp, and money than mining coal in the guild. You can definitely get two or more iron in the time it takes to get one coal at the east varrock mine.

I would go with mine and bank iron ores at east varrock.

85 mining isnt that fun trust me, I am f2p too(yay) and there just too many level 110+ that pks with d hide near the rune rocks. During the week days, the rune rocks will respawn slower(because less populated) so about 6/7 worlds you go to will be mined...also if you want to bank in edgy..imagine running from lumby to edgy thats about rune rocks back to edgy ..and dont forget about running back to the rocks

Time yourself at Rimmington and varrock. then go for the one that let you mine an inventory of iron and get rid of it the faster.

Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

I know you said you hate dropping ore, but... if you are going for 85 only then mining in varrock and dropping would be a much faster route.

I would really recommend varrock for banking also. I have mined and banked a lot of ore on my quest to 85 mining, and in f2p it is by far faster.

Coal is out of the picture if you are going for exp. There is no way to get the amount of exp from coal that you would from iron. The spawn/mine time is just too different.

Hope that helped a little.

blacknova is rite, vrk south east mine is the best spot of iron if you dont wanna drop em

one thing you might want to consider is mining iron (or whatever) at rimmington and selling it at the general store, it removes dropping and is a lot closer than the bank

but you don't get much money

I've never seen Sixth Sense nor Inception nor many other popular movies and I intend to keep it that way.

I'd say east varrok because coal in the guild is pretty slow, and you have a lot of competition. two, i've never tried/heard of the rimmington way before now.
