Well if you were to pickle them like they do to beetroot, then you'd have pickled red cabbage. Then, if you were to use flour (which is available in runescape) then remove the cabbage and just use the staind juice, you could thicken it with the flour. I'm guessing that red cabbage would be a slightly lighter colour then beetroot, so the thickened mixture would look a bit like blood. Therefore, Fake blood - Real Blood - Blood runes!!! It's all so simple.
