imaerehw14
To start off, there is one thing I want to say. Prayer. Prayer is so helpful in Barrows. It can save you from losing all your items, totaling anywhere from 100k to 100m depending on what you bring, but it can also be a costly annoyance that tugs at your pocketbook when you are trying to do barrows efficently. With this guide, I hope to explain and share my barrows method that uses prayer to its outward limits, while still giving you the upperhand in gaining profit. First of all, I am not going to explain in detail on how to get to barrows or any of the other junk that guides usually come with. If you don't know how to get to the barrows, then you don't need to be using this guide. Use another guide, and build up to this method. I will, however, be offering tips through text on the best way to get to the barrows and how to use my method efficently. ___________________________________________________________ Stats Needed *Of course 43 prayer is NEEDED to finish barrows. However, the higher the better. I recomend 55 to be the minimum level for this method. *This method is on the basis of using Magic Dart/Slayer Dart so 55 slayer is needed, however, it can be done with other spells, from fire bolt with chaos gauntlets, all the way up to ice barrage if you wish. *A high defence is recomended because even though we are using prayer, you will be fighting most of the brothers without prayer to protect yourself. *Medium-Medium high range level. about level 70ish should do. 70+ if you follow my method exactly. *75+ Attack and Strength *Good magic level. 70+ is recomended. However, it can be done with level 50. *50 Construction ___________________________________________________________ Items, Quests, and Cash Needed *Priest in Peril (access to canifis) *Any quest you need to get to barrows faster (EX: In Search Of the Myrque) *Good armor (explained later) *Decent weapons (dds, whip, hopefully a karils crossbow, but that can wait unti you get it from a drop. Replace karils with MSB and rune arrows until you get a karils) *Enough money to buy enough food for multiple trips (plan for 100 trips dry, because believe it or not, you can get dry streaks and not being prepared for it is a bad idea) *Ability to make in your house, someone elses house, or buy home teletabs. You can bring runes if you feel you dont need the extra 3 food spots ___________________________________________________________ The Method in Theory For now, I will explain the method. It will be easier to understand when you are down in the crypts for yourself. 1) Start in Canifis bank. Get outfit and inventory ready as instructed later. 2) Get to the crypts in whatever way you see fit. I prefer the bar basement route. 3) Fight brothers in order as follows with outfit as instructed. ---A) Dharok (Mage outfit #1, Protect prayer) ---B) Karil (Mele outfit #1, Protect prayer) ---C) Ahrim (Range outfit #1, Use rest of prayer. Prayer should be used up by now, if not, you are lucky) ---D) Verac (Mage outfit #2, No prayer) ---E) Torag (Mage outfit #2, No prayer) ---F) Guthan (Mage outfit #2, No prayer) 4) When you find the tunnel brother, skip him for now, and move on to next brother on the list. 5) Enter tunnel(Mele outfit #1). If you have Dharok, Verac, Torag, or Guthan in the tunnel use a safespot (discussed later) 6) If you are using Magic Dart/Slayer Dart, run to the door to the chest room, open it up, run back out into the open, get KC to 13, and run back in to open chest. 13 KC is best for this method because it maximizes runes for slayer dart, and usually gives back a good ammount of chaos and bolt racks in the process. 7) Teleport to house (preferably by teletabs that are discussed later), pray at house alter, and teleport to canifis VIA house teleportal. 6) Restart at Step 1. ___________________________________________________________ Inventory and Outfits Inventory Mage #1 Mage #2 Mele #1 Range #1 If you have Verac's helm, brassard, and skirt, use those. They have a good rpayer and defence bonus when equiped. They are well worth the cost. I recently bought 99 firemaking, so I can't afford it right now, but it is well worth the expense. Inventory Discussion Whip: used to ahcieve 13 KC fast. Can be replaced with Dscim if you don't like the risk or are training strength. DDS: Special used on Karil. If Karil is in tunnel, use DDS special on Ahrim. Your special bar WILL regenerate 90% if not 100% by the time you find Karil in the tunnel. Black Dragonhide Body: Magic protection from Ahrim. Wear this when ranging Ahrim. Use Karil's Leather Body if you have it. Karil's Leatherskirt: Magic protection from Ahrim. Wear this when ranging Ahrim. Rune Kite Shield: Wear this when instructed in the "The Method In Theory" section. Good protection from everything but magic. Karil's Cross-bow: Excellent penetrating power against Ahrim. The ammo for this weapon is Bolt Racks. Spade: If you don't know what this is for, please use a beginners guide :P Monkfish: You eat, You heal. As simple as that. These heal 16 each. If you think yuo can get away with using lobsters, feel free to. Im sure I can get away with using lobsters, But I feel more secure with Monkfish. Prayer Potion: You won't need to use this, but if there is a point at anytime durring your trip that you need to use it, it's there. Runes: Powers your Magic Dart/Slayer Dart spell. 1 cast uses 4 mind runes and 1 death rune. Home Teletab: 1 click teleportal device to your house. If you are smart, you will have an alter and a portal to canifis in your home. You may substitute anything in your inventory for something better/worse if you see fit. It's all up to you. I am merely providing the method. Make your trips reflect your style. Outfit Discussions Mage #1: Best prayer bonus with this outfit. Even with magic bonus of -25, you hit very accurate because of the horrible magic defence the brothers have. Mage #2: Used when fighting mele brothers when not praying. Good defence. Low magic bonus, but as said before, you still hit very accurately. Mele #1: Used on Karil/in tunnels. Shield can be used if prayer is ran out on Karil or if you are in the tunnel. Range #1: Used on Ahrim: Makes short work of him. ALWAYS have a ring of life equiped ___________________________________________________________ Safespots Safespots make it possible to not be hit by the mele brothers. Use them when you have them in the tunnels. This tip.it guide goes through all of them because I dont want to. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=487 ... r+blocking -Final Note: I know this looks like a few guides in this forum, but this one is directed more towards the harnesing of the prayer skill. It is a slight enhancement on certain methods used, and I hope it helps someone that is still looking for the right method for them. It took me a while to find this method and it took me a while to write this guide. All criticism, comments, questions, general posts, and advice is very helpful. Thanks. superway25
Since you're maging most of the time and a little def doesn't matter infinity or any mage boots would be better.
imaerehw14
Since you're maging most of the time and a little def doesn't matter infinity or any mage boots would be better. True, but when you are maging verac, torag, and guthan without prayer, all the defence helps. and you dont really need a big magic bonus anyway. the brothers have SUCH a bad magic defence, the extra 3-5 magic bonus wont make a noticeable difference. Saru Inc
This is basically how I do Barrows. (Except I don't pray on Ahrim.) So why is it called a 'Prayer oreinted guide'? When in reality, its not. Good guide though. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. When in reality, its not. Good guide though. The main point is to get your prayer bonus as high as possible so you CAN pray on ahrim, and even up to verac if you have a high enough bonus and get some good shots on the first few brothers.
