Is a spear good?

I've always been a fan of spears (in real life), but I've never used a spear in RS, I was wondering if they are any good, anyone have some input on this?

its debateable. but, spears are the most flexible weapon in the game- they can attack in any form (ie. crush, slash, etc.). i've never used one though, so i couldnt tell you if they actually are good or not.

Ok, if anyone that's actually used one could give me an opinion? I would like to get a d spear but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Also, is it like a halberd and can attack two squares away?

its not like a hally and get a long sowrd or even better ddp++ then go k-o wildy style

spears are very flexible but also very weak so i wouldnt recommend using them.(d spear stats are +55 for crush/stab/slash/strength i think)

Ok, just checking, I didn't want to invest in a weapon that isn't really worth it.

yeah i dont think anyone uses them, some ppl might get them just because they look kinda cool.

I've seen some people use them at Castle Wars (if you're a minigame type of person), just to use the special to nudge them under those tunnels where you can collapse the walls (though that may be a small minority, people with Dragon Spears are frequent in the world I'm in for Castle Wars). They don't actively use it for combat though.

Well there is one spear thats good but thats guthans spear 5.7mill and is good with full guthans but not without. apart from that i dont really like spears :)

the spears special attack is good, freezing an opponent for a few seconds (5 or 10, not sure)

It's 2 handed and as slow as the 2h. Does less max hit than a rune 2h. It pretty sucks.
