Everytime I startup my computer, I get a blue screen saying that it will check my D: drive for consistensy (or something like that, dont know the english word) Anyways, the program that does this check is called chkdsk. After checking it it runs normal. But its just iritating.

Well, I let it run everytime, and I shut down my pc correctly everytime. But still this happens. Also, when I didnt have this problem, I could just shut it down in anyway (Pull the plug out, keeping power button pressed, etc) without having this screen.

Just because you didn't get this problem at first doesn't mean that you can keep shutting the computer down incorrectly from now on.

Go to My computer > right click on the d: drive> tools tab> scan disk/ error checking> check both boxes and hit start.

It will prompt you to run this test on your next start up, click yes and restart the computer and let it do it's thing.

This is bad for your hardware if you keep shutting down like this. You should only pull the power cord or hold the power button when you absolutely have to (Ex: frozen machine). Constantly shutting down like you are will more than likely cause your hardware to fail well before it should have. Using Start > Shutdown is a much, much better idea.

Bmmns, It's most likely the harddrive. I've never heard of a cd/dvd drive causing such measures if it fails, and it's likely the harddrive is damaged first from such improper shutdownage.

i had a dv/dvd drive that would give blue screen when ever a movie was put into it

question whats is your D: drive?

It will be a hard drive or USB drive. CheckDisk doesn't run on CD/DVD drives.

ya i forgot about the check dish thing

I already said that I shut it down properly. Only when I have to I do it unproperly. Yes, the D: drive is a harddrive, but Windows is installed on the C: drive. I dont know if that matters. And its not the screen that says that I have shut down Windows inproperly, its another one. Thanks for replying anyways
