Hi, I plan to buy my first rare soon, but is it worth it? Santas seem to have dropped in price at this time of year, and I'm unsure about masks. Anyone a hardcore rare merchant? :o

No rares are worth it. Go buy some 99 skills =p

I mean its worth if it you plan to stay with runescape for a few more years but Id probably get a lv 99 stat

rares are overrated, its more worth getting a 99 skill than a rare. Anyone can buy a highly prices item, but it takes true dedication to get a 99 skill.

I've done both, and in my opinion, accumulating enough money to buy a rare is harder than getting 99 in certain skills.

 

 

 

I would buy a rare, in the long-term it will be a good investment. If you really want a 99 skill though you could do one like fletching and have more money than you started with and then buy a rare.

 

 

 

But there's no reason to buy all of your skill items at once. You could buy a rare then buy logs, etc in installments. Process, sell, buy, continue.

As far as i know, it looks like prices of red mask (because i own one so i care to know) are going down, so it's not really like the best time to be getting a rare due to their small fluctuation in prices.

but the prices will go back up, especially around the holiday they were released they seem to jump up.

I think you will want to buy wenn the price starts to rise again, cause that means it probally won't go down any further

I used to be a rich player... i wasted my time w/ rares, and only got 1 skill to 99 *that i didn't spend money on* If i would've quit w/ it, it would've been worth it... Otherwise, unless you are able to keep it in your bank until a price rise, don't bother.
