April 22, 200719 yr Right. As far as I have understood, Barrelchest is a Boss who attacks with Crush-attacks and who drains Prayer. Question 1: Can he be safespotted? Question 2: If no, can Prayer be restored by Prayer Pots or do they stay at 0. Question 3: If yes at last, can he be defeated by melee with these stats: Atk, str: 62 Def, HP: 63 Full Rune, Inventory full of Swordies and some Combat Pots? April 22, 200719 yr Yes, but it'll be hard to do at the first time. You could walk/teleport away and wait some minutes, then come back. Then he won't be aggresive to you, and you'll have time to prepare your safespotting (that's what I did, but at first I died, instead of teleporting away). Prayer can be restored, but it keeps being depleted too rapidly to be of any use. NO. You won't defeat him with those stats, or at least you'd need Sharks+ food and a super set (I've had a bad experience with melee, I'd rather you avoided it). April 23, 200719 yr Author Right, Melee didn't work at all (teleported). How long should be neccesary for him to lose agression? EDIT: Finished. 60 Fire Bolts and 10 Fire Blasts and he was gone. Owner of Quest Cape since 11/9/2007 23:30! Working my butt off to get it back.
April 23, 200719 yr My stats were attack 71, strength 58, and defense 60 at the time. What I did was made some saphire rings and let him kill himself. YOU CANNOT USE PRAYER AT ALL. Do not even waste your time trying. I just wore the highest crush defense armor I could (rune chain, dragon plate skirt, rune boots, mithril gloves, fishbowl and scuba tank. I used a Dragon mace but really relied on the recoil rings to do the work. I used sharks and ran out before the fight was over. I may have had one but I cannot remember. Another thing is that I used a super attack pot and a regular strength pot at the bank then put sharks in the pots place. That way I had my bonuses and the food also. He hit constant 20s on me and everytime he did I ate a shark. I barely did it at my stats but I think the rings are very important.
April 24, 200719 yr I managed to take him out with a combination of Magic and Range. I would use Entangle on him (15-second bind), run to the other side of the room, heal up what damage he hit and started shooting with a Crystal Bow (fresh one). After the Entangle wore off, I let him get a few shots on me, bind him, and dove to the other side of the room. don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
April 24, 200719 yr I did this reasonably easily (but then again I am a little higher in combat level). I would recommend using rune chain and a warhammer / battleaxe - as the anchor he hits with is crush based and eats your rune plate. If you have good mage, bind / blast / blast / bind / blast / blast works nicely too. Seen someone use the doorway to good effect. -- TheFrugleOldSkoolRunescape Skiller1850+
April 24, 200719 yr I made it with lobsters, My stats were Att 70 str 70 and defence 70, I think I used a superset that was very dusty, I just used rune armour and granite body, I did all the special bar with Dragon Daguer super ++ and then all the way with Dragon scimitar. It is not that hard as the people say, just eat when he hits and donnot waste time. http://darkluniux.blogspot.comBehold my blog! Thou shalt visit it and rejoice!
