Cannons, by the numbers

I was checking around for info on cannons for ranging and had one big question. Is there a rough count or guideline of how many cannonballs it would take to kill a certain number of monsters? I want to go from 60 to 70 range, and according to tip it, its about 4.6k rockcrabs.

So, roughly speaking, how many cannonballs would be needed for it? Should I assume double, or even triple the kill count in terms of cannonballs?

There's really no way to predict how long you need to lvl a combat skill. I'm not too sure about this, i believe the cannon is able to hit rather accurately and about 24+ almost every shot or so. Maybe you'll want to estimate from there.

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

A cannon normaly hits 25 then 0 then 25 on a monster, thats the average though...So I am thinking about 15k cannon balls.

But think about this, a cannon ball isn't worth the exp. Its only worth it if you want to level 4 times faster then leveling with normal range.

1 Cannon ball costs around 200 gp, it can hit a max of 35 and a average of 20-35. Now you can get 4 iron arrows (At 25gp each) in the same amount of money. Now 4 iron arrows need to hit an average of 5 each. Now an iron arrow hits more then 5 average with 40+ range and almost best range bonus equipment.

I hear what you are saying on the iron arrows, and you're probably right. The biggest hair pulling part on leveling range was its speed. I just did 55-60 on black knights (I wanted to level white knight ranks) and the worst part was--even with iron throwing knives-- how s l o w it was.

(on the other hand, I'd probably spend the same amount of time making cannonballs, so it all averages out)
