A couple of questions: Lunar and Salamanders

Featured Replies

Well hey there, fellow tip.iters!

I have a couple of questions I really wish I knew answers for myself, but unfortunately, I don't ::'

First, a question about Lunar Diplomacy. Right now, I'm 56 mining (powermining at dogershuun mines right now to 57). But I find mining so boring I dunno whether I'll be able to train to 60. So, my question is: is it possible to start the quest using stat boosters to get mining to 60? (From what I've heard, the NPC that initiates the quest checks one's stats first). In this context, how much more effective is the granite quarry (assuming I have at least half inventory waterskins) compared to dogershuun mining-and-selling at levels 57-59 mining?

Then, a couple of questions about salamanders:

1. I've read (at least in the huner guides) that for a salamander to become a ranged weapon, one must feed it 15 herb tars. The question is: does one have to continue feeding it tar after each 15 shots? What a waste of herbs if yes #-o

2. What is the speed of salamanders compared to other ranged weapons?

3. What is the damage capability of salamanders compared to other ranged weapons?

4. What is the range of salamanders?

5. If #1 is false, how much more effective (or less effective) is salamander range training than bow-and-arrow training?

6. Are the salamanders tradeable? (Hehe, don't even know that!)

P.S. Okay, I know the questions about salamanders belong in the other subforum, but as I didn't want to make 2 topics, I combined them.

The herblore tar is used up just like arrows are, except you cant recover them, you use one herb for 15 tar and you have some ammo.

Im not familiar with speed, damage, range or effectiveness.

They are tradeable.

Black salamanders are pretty powerful. The herb tar is a great use for your herbs, because making the tar is very fast herblore exp. You can only attack enemies adjacent to you, I'm not sure if you can attack over or through fences. You can also train mage and strength in addition to ranged, and I hit higher training range with my black salamanders than any other weapon I've tried. Plus, they look cool.

Thanks for the answers!

What about the speed of salamanders? Although, it's sad one has to be in melee range for the slamander to attack.

I'm not sure about the salamanders, but you do need the actual levels for starting Lunar Diplomacy. You can't use stat boosters.

This signature is intentionally left blank.

1. For tars to be used as ammo, you need to wield the respective tar in the quiver slot, they work as bolt racks which are not recoverable once used.

3. Red salamanders have the range damage similar to rune arrows

4. Melee range but shootable when target is digonal of your position and across fences possible.

5. I suggest you don't train range with salamanders, they are much more inaccurate compared to bow and arrows

6. Yes they are

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.
