Iron knives.

I've recently been smelting a lot of iron bars and now I have 10k sitting in my bank and I have to decide if I want to sell them or make iron knives out of them for the extra smithing exp, but then i noticed you get 5 knives @40gp ea that's only 200. So all that extra work and I lose 50gp a bar. I don't understand why anyone would make iron knives, unless they just want the extra exp w/o losing any money. Or am I missing something.

ummm iron is only 100-150 an ore and 5*40=200 so u make 50-100 profit off every 5 knifes :shock:

I sell bars for 250 ea= 140 profit per iron ore. I pay 110 each ore smelt and then sell the product for 250. w/ knives I lose the 50 and only make 200.

ohhhh i see. :oops: Well i guess ppl make knifes for extra exp and still make some money.

You get 12.5 exp for making it into and bar and 25 exp for turning that bar into knives. generally the forging bit of smithing is where the real exp comes from.. unless you like getting 12.5k exp per hour \

I just did it to get my smithing up to 55, then I use the knives to level ranging.
