I know their is a post on this, I tried his advice, thought it worked then a blue screen popped up.

Could be overheating, clear your fans of dust and try it again with the case off. If you still have the problem it might be a processor/ram overload. Don't have many programs running at once.

Do you know how to get into your BIOS?

 

 

 

9 out of 10 times when a computer is randomly restarting it's because of overheating. If you can get into your bios and check your PC health you could see if it is running too hot.

 

 

 

Other wise a pretty simple trick is to just take the case off of your computer, and see if it stops restarting. If it does, you know the what the problem is and a simple solution would to be to buy a few check case fans, or alternativly get a new heatsink. If simply taking the case off doesn't work, you could take it one step further and put a floor fan near the computer.

 

 

 

If it isn't being cause by over heating, it generally is either faulty RAM or a bad PSU, but first things first; go down the list one at a time before ruling anything out.

It hasn't been just this weekend or something, this has been happening for months. It usually restarts when I try to view a irl friends myspace page, after I download a PK video and am getting ready to watch it, most of the times I have nothing else open because of this and it still happens.

It doesn't USUALLY restart at complete random, I have discovered a pattern, whenever I download a PK video, when windows media player starts to open or when I view someones Myspace page.

Could still be overheating. Shut down, open the case and blow a fan on the inside. After a few minutes turn your computer on and try to download a pk movie and post back if it still restarts.

Not sure if it'll help any. But something like that was happening to my computer awhile back, although it didn't keep restarting like your problem. It wouldn't fully load the desktop.

 

 

 

Check your motherboard or even graphics card, they could be going. I had to get a new motherboard to solve my problem, but it might not be as severe as what you have to deal with.

That generally means you take/send it back to where ever you got it from and have it replaced. You should have done so 3 months ago when it first started.

Well all three of those have one thing in common, and that is they are a form of media. Going to a myspace page usually starts a radio / video that someone has posted on their page. WMP... thats self explainitory, and trying to watch a PK video would bring up WMP.

 

 

 

It might be that you have the wrong drivers installed for your video card, sound card, or motherboard. Though I doubt that.

 

 

 

Do you play any graphically advanced games like BF2, Fear, HL2, anything like that? It could be that your power supply is junk, and when your video card asks for more power the computer simply can't handle it and restarts.

 

 

 

But like we've told you about 10 times now, take the case off, put a fan near it. You have to rule things out one at a time. No sense in taking your car to a mechanic if you've simply run out of gas and just don't realize it.

heatsink or cpu fan slip off or something ? maybe try to secure that.. that could be why it keeps restarting.

 

 

 

what operating system are you running?

 

is your cpu overclocked?

 

can you get the cpu temperature? if it`s over 60C then you`ve most likely found the problem..
