Gem rocks...

Ok, you might have seen my last question about diamonds. Since then, I went to the Shilo Village gem rocks and started to stock on my gems. While there, I mined jade, opal, and red topaz. I just dropped those. My question is, should I have kept those? Do they have a useful purpose?

I keep them as they can be sold to the store in the Tribal Village in exchange for trading sticks. These sticks are very useful if you want to cut teak and mahogany trees, and can be used to purchase unique items from the village store.

Did you cut them for free crafting exp before you dropped those. If you don't, at least do so before dropping

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

When I go to the Gem Rocks, I always cut those 3 gems. If I have enough time before the rocks respawn, I always fletch them into bolt tips, otherwise I drop them.

I cut them, and fletch opals into bolt tips for the bronze bolts I pick up everywhere I see them. Yes that is a little quirkiness of me... I piacked up + so far 1200  .

All other shilo gems I cut and bank, and when I have like 100 or so I sell them in the village for trading sticks (you can sell them noted). Always cut the shilo gems for free crafting exp (as mentioned), and if you don't want to sell them in Tai Bwo Wannai, craft them into bolt tips for fletching xp, and freeing inventory space (since bolt tips stack) for you to last longer at the rocks before your inventory gets full. When you bank your "real" gems, you walk next to a general store, where you could sell the bolt tips for some extra gp.
