question about runescape hackers

im new here today i is my first day being a tip.it member, I filled out my profile completly is it a bad idea to list my screennames on messenger services? due to hackers with no intention to talk to me or befriend me add me on there from this place and try to hack me & steal my hard earned runescape account?

 

ill appreciate any answers on this,

There are no such thing as Runescape hackers. There are only password thieves who will gain it by deception or by you accepting a malicious file and giving it access though your firewall. Adding your Runescape nickname isnt going to cause you any problems but its probably wise to not mention your email address anywhere.

As was said, we usually advise people against listing their email/msn/aim/etc addresses here but adding your rs name is fine. If you aren't comfortable with having it shown then don't :)

Another option would be to make a runescape-only screen name on the different services, and use something like meebo to log in. It doesn't have file transfer capabilites, so the only way they could get your password through meebo is if you tell them.

No real reason to go creating other names and using another client (although another client can be more useful if you use multiple services).

 

 

 

Just don't accept files from anyone and you're fine.
