I want to order a new desktop from Dell, but it only comes with Vista, so I'd like to know if it's possible to uninstall Vista and install XP on it when I get it?

Speak to Dell cust services online, they will sent you a link to XP computers to buy. You can still get them for a limited time.

I know they still do some with XP, that's not what I asked. I want this specific computer, so I need to know if I can take off Vista and put XP on.

Yes you can install XP on it. That won't be a problem. The problems will arive when you start trying to install drivers for the dell hardware. They will most likely only provide drivers for Vista if that is the only OS option for that model, leaving you with no drivers and having to hunt down compatible versions. This was a slight problem with the Toshiba laptop I downgraded, since Toshiba only supplied Vista drivers for the model.

I am sure there will be no problems arising from it. Just uninstall Vista then install Windows XP.
