Just some mining help...

At the moment, Im 80 Mining. Obviously.... i want 85 mining. Now this is ages away. I was trying to think of the best way to get money AND xp the fastest. Which idea is the best?

 

 

 

Mine Addy - Bank

 

Mine Coal - Bank

 

Mine Iron - Drop, Mine Rune for cash when i get there.

 

Mine Silver - Drop, Mine Rune for cash when i get there.

 

Mine nothing, rely on Genie Lamps.. haha.

 

 

 

If not above, please state what your think. And if you do pick one or another, please tell me how long it would take.

 

 

 

I will be playing 6 hours a day in Holidays (40 Days) (Starting in the holidays!)

 

Everyday... Pretty much...

 

 

 

Ahh, and where should i mine the stuff??? I'm F2P

Mining iron and dropping is quite effective.

 

But it will require a hell of alot of patience. :shock:

Im guessing you're not member, but if you are the best way is to powermine granite in the desert with desert suit and about 24 waterskins and a bucket (Water source underground for refill)

 

 

 

If you're not just find a spot where you can mine and drop iron non-stop and stick to it, its the best way to get xp.

 

If you still want to make some money of it you could hire some runners

 

 

 

edit(To above poster) : Mining coal in the guild, yet decent for moneymaking and even if it can be maxed out super-heating mithril, is poor xp compared to granite or iron

I got to lvl 85 by power-mining iron in al-kharid, arguably the best place in f2p since it has 3 rocks in one space, though it's far from a bank and can be crowded. I could get 40k xp hour with full concentration, though it dips down to 30-35k if you multitask or get out-mined. Playing 6 hrs a day, and averaging 35k xp per hour, you would get to 85 mining in 6 days (if I did my math right).

 

And after that, you could use rune mining to make as much money as you want.

Hm, I'm liking the ideas. I stopped mining iron in Al-Kharid because normally yu get those level 50 odd miners that seem to out mine me all the time...... I'm very unpatient. How long would it take to mine...

I'll probably get bored coming up to 3k coal, and quit.

 

 

 

But.. 34,500 iron doesn't sound anymore relieving. How long would that take.. if.. 6 hours a day, world switching probably 10 times in each 6 hour session??? (Sorry, you don't have to be exact ha..)

Powermining in Al kharid is by far the fastest but if you want to make some cash mining iron in east Varrock to bank is pretty fast, probably faster than coal in the guild. If I had the time like you i would split coal and iron to get up smithing. It may take a while but would be worth the experience plus you could just sell the bars instead. If all you want is cash just powermine till 85 then start mining rune, but if you like leveling i would split coal and iron and then smith them. Mining rune is definitely worth so do not get bored with whatever you choose.

I'm not to bothered about making cash at the moment, it just i am VERY skint, (networth like.. 40k) and i need cash. But i suppose, rune will get me ALOT...i hope.

I wouldn't recommend powermining. Sure, it's the fastest XP, but as a free player, I think you're going to be a little disappointed with your ability to actually get rune ores. 85 mining is worth having, to be sure, but I think you're much better off if you have something to show for it once you get it.

 

 

 

I would recommend using mining to get some smithing and magic XP along the way by superheating mith. Since you need to mine 24k coal, that's 6k mith bars. If you don't have a lot of money for mith ores and nats now, just start out doing 100 or 200 at a time, and the whole thing will eventually fund itself. Since your smithing is pretty low, you'd probably be better off selling the bars you make, for a profit of 300-400 per bar. You would also score 180k smithing xp, and 318k mage xp along the way. And make around 2m.

About 7 days if you stick with your schedule.

Use the 3 iron rocks on the NW wall of the Al-Kharid scorp mine.

 

 

 

Keep in mind that F2P has only 2 runite ore rocks.

 

Those usually have PKers nearby waiting to take your runite ore.

 

So, you will have to use the standard anti-PKer techniques to deal with them.

 

 

 

Also, many times the rocks are empty.

 

The respawn time for runite is about 1386 - #Players/3 seconds

 

So, the most crowded servers respawn a bit faster.

 

Regardless, you will have to world hop, (a lot), to find any ore at all.

 

Overall, you may be frustrated in your mining results.

 

 

 

You can mine Addy and Mith ore right now, so you could sell those ores

 

for a bit of cash.

Here's my f2p method i used which i found was a great balance of exp and cash. (needs 70+ smith)

 

 

 

Go to the dwarven mine with firestaff equipped and nats/pick in inv and mine the addy rocks there. while you wait for them to respawn, powermine the 3 iron rocks just to the west. Repeat this until you have 6 inv spaces left.

 

 

 

now go through to the guild section and mine coal, superheating the addy as you go. bank the bars and repeat.

 

 

 

you can sell teh bars for about 2k each. i got membership back just before i got 85, so i made the bars into arrowtips and fletched a load of addy arrows, these sell great to f2p pkers :thumbsup:
