Peronix
I just got this computer and I'm having serious troubles with it. First of all, I occasionally get a message where a program called "WebProxy" has crashed and needs to close. Even worse, sometimes out of the blue, no matter what site I'm on, my browser (regardless of weather I'm using IE or FireFox) crashes in the same fashion. And worst of all, like at least once every day, I have a blue screen come up on my computer for about a second then the whole thing shuts down instantly. (crashes) I have tried literally EVERYTHING I know of... virus scanning, scandisking, defragmenting; nothing worked. My computer is a PC; here's the specs: Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Manufacutred and supported by Sony Electronics Inc. VAIO Computer Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.00GHz 3.00GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM RADEON X300 Series video card (copied most of that from 'my computer' properties) ...Help? :wall:
nomar04
First, you probably don't need a proxy if you are on a home computer, so you should uninstall webproxy. Have you done a virus scan in safe mode, and what virus scanners are you using? Another possibility is you keep going to the same site whenever it crashes, and that could be doing it. The program I used for a virus scanner was Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2007 ( a trial version). I'm pretty sure the "webproxy" program is associated with panda antivirus, because every time it errors panda's firewall ceases to function properly. I'll try the scan in safe mode now. And no, the crashing has happened when I was on only forum.tip.it, only on runescape, or on both, and on other sites as well. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to do with what site I'm visiting. mike0xhard
If your computer goes to blue screen then shuts down, that is most likely incompatible memory.
Cruiser
If your computer goes to blue screen then shuts down, that is most likely incompatible memory. A BSOD does not automatically mean incompatible memory. Windows throws a blue screen any time something completely crashes the system. The error code is what matters, not just assuming it's bad RAM because a blue screen was thrown.
Peronix
Update: I went to bed and left my computer on and when I got up the blue screen was up; thankfully it stayed up so I can read what was on it. This is some of the stuff it said: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL then the technical information *** STOP: 0x0000000A(0x72667464, 0x0000000K, 0x00000000, 0x804FA1A0) I looked up the "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" thing and I got any number of things it could be. A bunch of different faulty hardware issues, and software issues. I don't know where to begin :wall:
Cruiser
Have you recently updated drivers or installed any new hardware? That would be the first place to start.
Peronix
The only thing I can think of is the internet driver. I went through hell to get it working. Besides that, I can't think of anything. It seems to be getting much, much worse. It is crashing literally every 2 hours now, and then I can't turn it back on for like a half an hour. Mabye I should admit defeat and just reformat? -.-

Bmms
Yes, I'd reformat if I were you. not yet he should download avg free, spybot and or adaware, and scan your comp in safe mode if that still doesnt help make sure you have the right driver that can cause crashes had the same problem when i install the wrong graphic card driver Aefx(started 11/1/2002) Cb: 200 TS: 1900+Bmms--Jr(Started on 1/24/06)(Banned 11/13/09 ) Cb: 119(pre-eoc) TS: 1700+Bmms(Started 8/?/2001)(Banned 1/24/06 ) Cb: 101(pre-eoc) TS: 1350+

Having the same problems, but I think I MAY have figured out what it is. I have a WG311T wireless adapter that connects me to the router at my house, and I read online that some people who used that were getting the BSOD. After I installed the driver for that is when I started experiencing the problems again. I'm going to try un-installing the driver and plugging in my comp directly to the internet to see if that dosen't help. On a seemingly unrelated matter, my video card seems to be getting VERY hot after my computer is on for a relativly short ammount of time. I mean like, stovetop hot. Because of this, after I shut off my computer and I turn it back on, the moniter won't turn on, and it won't until the card cools down. Anyone know why the heck the video card would be getting that hot? I'm not doing anything that would be overclocking it. I do have two mointers connected to it, but I don't see why that would be a problem.
