Icingdeath
Alright, my internet runs quite smoothly, loads pages and videos very quickly. But when I play online games, such as Battlefield 2142 or Counter-Strike, my ping always ranges from 300-1000. It started doing this about a few weeks ago. I'm wondering why this is... Some have suggested spyware. If so, what program would be best to remove this? It's starting to annoy me quite a bit >_< I really wouldn't call it an era. blade995
If you think it's spyware use Ad-aware and Spybot for spyware scanners and AVG Free for a virus scan.

Icingdeath
Wireless. Our nearest wireless signal tower is roughly a mile away. I really wouldn't call it an era. Mementh
Wireless. Our nearest wireless signal tower is roughly a mile away. coming from a cell phone background here.. wireless signals are NEVER the same hour to hour honestly ..... temperature and humility change the wireless signals dramatically... and if your using a signal from a mile away.. expect 300-1000 ms ping to be the norm for a long distance.... unless your using cellular.. in which it will vary greatly on the signal The following statement is true. The previous statement is false. 60% of all statistics are made up 90% of the time andrew i love you & want you to have my babys!!! Finally, I get to save the Earth with deadly lasers instead of deadly slide shows!
JoeDaStudd
I've never heard of wireless broadband with that kind of range... My bet is that you have a very good download speed, but a poor upload speed (similar to sat. broadband), and as the ping is the time to send and receive, the upload is letting you down. Just to be sure try using one of the online speed tester and post the results here. Icingdeath
900-some KPBS download speed, around 700 KPBS upload. This isn't the greatest, but it's always run all online games with an average ping of about 30. Just recently it has begun to [bleep]e quite a bit. I really wouldn't call it an era. username388
It could just be more people in your area are getting the same service. All the people in your area would be sharing bandwidth, so it could just be more usage than there was before. It might also be interference of some sort. Try relocating your antennae to see if that helps.
