June 24, 200719 yr I'm looking for a new video card...I would prefer it to be under $150. Something that can run rather well with most newer games. My Nvidia GeForce 6600 works pretty good but I fear it will soon become outdated. And...how do I tell if my PC has AGP or PCI? I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
June 24, 200719 yr open the case, and look at what kinda slot you have, if its semi-old it will prolly be agp, or to be safe you could go with pci, but pci-x is pretty new. or if you know what kinda computer you have you can look on the mobo box, or look on the company website for that model of computer you have thats right, zoidnerd stole MY sig.

June 24, 200719 yr I have a Nvidia Geforce 7900 gs. It is PCI express and it suits me VERY well. I think it is around $150 now - It might be a little bit more expensive but it's well worth it.
June 24, 200719 yr With a decent midrange like a 6600, I'd be inclined to hold out for as long as possible, at least until Nvidia versus ATI competition hots up in DirectX 10, as that will probablt bring prices down or performance up even more.

June 29, 200719 yr Yeah PCI or PCI-E is a huge difference. If it is a PCI card I would perhaps not get a new card, or not spend $150 on it. You probably would not get much of a boost out of that. However if it is a PCI-E I recommend this 7900GS KO, probably the best mid range card you'll get. Really though what are the rest of your specs? We don't want to recommend a powerful card and you not have a good enough PSU for it or for it to get bottlenecked by the CPU, ram, ect.

Either way the budget 8000's aren't worth buying, period. edit: But that card is still not good with his price constraints. blade beat me to it. :P

And a comfortable amount of money I'd be willing to spend (more would be fine but yeah hehe) I'll look into the 7900GS. Would I need anything else to accommodate this card?
