Bah!

I don't know much about computers so bare with me.

My connection does this

Cool.jpg

And during that time my internet just stops. It last for up to 5 mins and it happens frequently.

I have a Wireless G USB adapter and I am like 20 feet from my router.

I Also have this thing

kindofcool.jpg

That sometimes says it cannot connect to the internet? So I don't know.

Also when I highlight over the wireless Icon it switches between 54 mbps and 48 mbps

Any help would save my life, thanks

When it switches between mbs it is normal.

The signal your getting in the pictures is very good. Although if you say it's dropping the connection completely there may be interference with another network. Try changing the channel of the router.

To access the router settings log into the computer that is hard wired to the router (not wireless) and type in the following in the address bar.

192.168.1.1

It should be that address if your using a linksys router and many other brands, if not there are another few you can try.

Well I can't do that right now but.

What about when it switches from

You are connected to the access point, and the internet

to

You are connected to the access point, but the internet cannot be found

Because right now when I search for other wireless channels I don't find any at all.

I am fairly new to wireless networking, so forgive me if i'm wrong.

If you have a psp or laptop or something with WI-FI compatibility search for the router with that, and if it shows the access point and your computer does not show it there, It might be your driver or adapter messing up.

hehe, I know you're going to end up spending a good couple of hours with the tech support group leader in India, but I will try to help...

1. has it worked before and stopped?

2. did you set a password?

Also when you install the driver for most network adapters it has built in software-which it looks like you have. It's quite likely that that program is clashing with the Windows zero config wireless networking software. Try setting the windows networking software to off and see if that helps.
