Well, eye of newt costs like 3 coins each in shops. But as a second ingredient, someone is usually looking for some, seeing as how eye of newt is used for attack potions.

The eye of newt moneymaking?

Many skills in RS require the use of certain items.

If you go to the trouble of gathering hundreds of eyes, or feathers,

or iron ore, or coal, or logs, etc, etc, etc then other players will pay you

to be able to get these items in large quantities from 1 seller at 1 time.

So, you buy from the store or other players, world hop,

and then increase your price and sell large amounts to other players.

Look at the marketplace forums to get an idea of item prices and item demand.

Hope this helps

They are used alot in Attack potions.
