July 19, 200719 yr Why do people always say to use iron knives for ranged? Wouldn't steel or mithril be much better? I need to know in order to train my ranged.
July 19, 200719 yr Iron can be bought for around 40-50 GP ea. When you buy in bulks, iron is always the cheapest.
July 19, 200719 yr Unless you got a lot of money and you want to raise you range fast use iron knives.. if not.. then use iron arrows.. because iron knives go quick when your training your range.. really quick.. Also i wouldn't use steel or mith knives because just to expensive, you would lose to much money. Visit TipRs for Rs Tips such as Money Making Guides
July 19, 200719 yr Iron knives are cheap and still pretty effective, that is why. Sure, better material knives make for faster training, but are also a lot more expensive. For instance mithril bars sell for about 1.5k now. Each bar gives you 5 knives, so i would expect the price for 1 knife to be about 300 gp.

That would be the price people would want to buy them for, however, if the smithers were going to get any profit whatsoever, they would sell for more. Also, knives are really only good for "power training," because of the low range. They are terrible for slayer. Range= Distance you can shoot knives from.
July 19, 200719 yr Also, knives are really only good for "power training," because of the low range. They are terrible for slayer. Range= Distance you can shoot knives from. I agree that iron knives are good for "power training" but I'll have to disagree that they're terrible for slayer. They are decent to use for slayer if you're killing a low levelled monster. You can easily make them yourself and make a large quantity of them rather quickly. Unfortunately, iron knives are low quality and thus they'll be breaking more often then higher quality metals. In this case, we can hope that quantity wins over quality. Knowledge is Power; a Tip.it guide answers many commonly asked questions.~Celestrana: Making of a Hero ~ (Visit my blog, today!)
July 19, 200719 yr Author erm... steel knives are only 35-45gp, whereas iron knives are 40-45gp... And mithril knives are 80-120gp each if you want to know. So why dont people use steel knives?

Thats about what they go for, but they're insanely hard to find. Not a single forum post about them atm.
July 19, 200719 yr That's because no one in their right mind would be willing to smith mithril bars into knives knowing they would be losing 900 gp per bar. Same deal with all other metals except runite and possibly addy (for dueling and pking only though) Proud owner of a Quest cape!
