monitor problems

hey everyone, i've had this monitor for a few years.

 

 

 

recently, this problem has started.

 

 

 

out of no where, my screen will go blank, then come back.

 

 

 

is it time for a new monitor? what could cause this? any ideas?

It could be your graphics card overheating. This can cause what you explained. Does it happen completely randomly, or does it happen when you are playing a game, or putting stress on the card?

 

Are you sure your wires/graphics card are attached well?

What kind of monitor is it? LCD or CRT?

its a CRT, its a hp pavilion mx70, pretty old.

 

 

 

 

 

and its random, not even when i put stress on it. All the cords are secure too.

I had this problem with my LCD screen, turned out the power cable had given up the ghost and kept shorting out. Try replacing the cable if it is a detachable one, otherwise, no idea, sorry.

Tried using the monitor with another computer yet? That way, you can check if it's the gfx card or if it's the monitor.
