JoshThaGod
Does anyone else here collect comic books? i just started up again, as a personal thing, and for profit (if you know the value in comic books, than youd understand). Im talkin about people who actually know the general stuff (like the fact that most stuff from the 90s isnt worth a dime, and know about current books, like world war hulk, Sinestro Corps, and the Endangered Species to name a few) I just got back into it recently, Got me a decent collection of cable and deadpool (i like deadpool, got issue 1 of deadpool and issue 1 of cable but not issue 1 of cable and deadpool, although i can easily find it online for like 15 bucks) Today was awsome, If you read Green Lanterns REBIRTH series, or the new Sinestro Corps War series than you know the name Ethan Van Sciver. Well at a local comic shop in my area (Sci-Fi City) he was there doing a signing, my friend got his whole rebirth series signed, and i got my sinestro corps book signed, and we sent our books in to get CGCed (because if you get it signed u need to send it in right than and there or else they cant cgc it due to verifying the signature) He was also doing sketches for 30 to 80 bucks, i feel dumb not getting one now that i look at it (some sketches are selling for 450 U.S dollars online) but i didnt have the money at the time. Either way it was pretty cool. I also picked up the new Black Adam #1 and a variant cover today and also a variant zombies cover of Thor #1. GL Corp #22 came out today, the cover is awsome (Has kyle brown as parralax on the cover), and i also picked up the 2 World War Hulk (#2 and 3) that i didnt read yet (Have yet to get a variant cover of a World War Hulk, They are expensive, a friend got a sketch variant of #1 for 10 dollars!!! lucky guy, its worth almost 300 now). i also picked up a variant of the new Batman And Robin Allstars #6 (i got 1 variant, and all other BR:allstars except 2! gotta get that asap). the guy at the comic shop said Jim Lee will most likly be doing a signing at Sci-Fi Before the end of the year, id love to get my books signed and CGCed. (Frank miller and jim lee do the Batman and robin allstars series). Here is some of the more decent titles i have got Xmen #200 Variant Cover w/ Gambit and others, another with Cable And Wolverine But the Cable And Wolverine to my knowledge is the standard. X-Men Endangered Species One-Shot Batman And Robin All-Stars #1 Batman Colored Cover Batman And Robin All-Stars #6 Batgirl Variant Frank Miller Cover Thor #1 Variant Zombie Cover Black Adam #1 Variant Cover Cable #1 Deadpool #1, #2, and the #11 Spiderman Spoof Cover 64page book. Sinestro Corps Special Chapter #1 of Sinestro Corps War, SIGNED by Ethan Van Sciver and on its way to get CGC'ed. I got the 1st Printing, there is already 2 other printings, First one has sinestro on the cover, 2nd one Kyle Brown, 3rd one Sinestro but in black and white. and a few non signifigent books GhostRider - Trail Of Tears #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 and #6 (all 6 of 6) - This one takes it back to the old midwest ghostrider. very good read, EXCELLENT ARTWORK! AMAZING COVERART! (Maybe ill scan or take some pictures on my crappy camera phone of these later, they look amazing) Cable and Deadpool - Civil War (#30, #31, #32) Cable And Deadpool - #13 #14 #15 #38 #39 #41 #42 #43 (Working on this one as a personal collection) So, is anyone else into Comics, wither it be for selling or personal Collecting? id love to discuss some of the current storylines and what-not. indy500fan
I've been pretty into comic books since a little over a year ago. It kind of sucks, since I put so much money into it I can't buy movies anymore. I mostly just collect fairly recent stuff, but I am working backwards on my Uncanny X-men and X-Men titles. I collect them more for reading than for profit. Here is my collection. It says I have 550, which is almost right, just missing three that aren't on the site yet. I don't have many big issues as of yet, Captain America #25 +variant would probably be the most known, although Fantastic Four 537-539 were the most expensive. Right now my pull list is: Astonishing X-Men Avengers: The Initiative Captain America Fantastic Four Heroes for Hire Mighty Avengers Mystic Arcana (miniseries, halfway done) newuniversal (that's the title, no capitals or a space) New X-Men Punisher War Journal Sub Mariner The Order Thor Uncanny X-Men World War Hulk World War Hulk: Front Line World War Hulk: Gamma Corps World War Hulk: X-Men (all four WWH are miniseries) X-Factor (my favourite series) X-Men X-Men: First Class So every week I get around 5 comics, plus whatever back issues I feel like getting. As you can see they are all Marvel comics, the two series that I have that aren't (52 and Battlestar Galactica) are finished. They are also all in the regular Marvel continuity except for Astonishing, newuniversal, and First Class.
Rainy_Day
I don't really collect comic books, but I have the 3 original star wars books, which are worth a lot nowadays. :P ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)RIP Michaelangelopolous
Nom
I don't read too many comics, and I don't have any that are worth good money. But I do have the hardcover collections of Runaways. Best comic ever, even if it isn't a classic. Created by B.K. Vaughn, but he left and now Joss Whedon is doing them. Runaways FTW
indy500fan
I heard Runaways was really good, but I haven't had a chance to read them yet. I think I heard Joss Whedon was going to quit doing them though, but Warren Ellis picking them up. I'd be just as happy with that, since he did newuniversal. Although now that I think about it, it might be Astonishing X-Men that that is happening to...
Nom
^He wasn't supposed to stay long term, he only signed on for like 6 issues or something. And I haven't read any of his issues yet, so I don't know if they changed artists as well, but I hope not. Adrian Alphona's art is amazing. It would be really hard to get used to a different style. But as long as they don't let it die, I'll deal.

Do u have the NEW thor series or the old one? (there is a new one that came out, first issue came out last month or so?) hopefully this week the new cable and deadpool comes out, but i gotta wait till nextweek to get it. i get too much stuff when i go comic shopping, i always spend near 100 dollars. :/ and i rarly get variants. indy500fan
I was going to start getting Cable & Deadpool, but now it is going to end at issue 50. I think it 43 was the last one to come out. So once all of them are out, I'll see if I can find a full run on eBay. I will be collecting the new Deadpool series though. I would like to get the full run of the first Deadpool series also, haven't looked at prices for that yet. Also, issue 44 comes out on the 22nd, which is two Wednesdays from now. I have the new Thor series, which only has two issues out so far. I'd like to have the older one, but it will be a long, long time until I get those. Possibly never, there are a good deal of older comics I would like to get, and they are expensive. My comic book store found a copy of Uncanny X-Men (just known as X-Men then) 94, which is the first one with the second team. $720, it was still really tempting. If I didn't have tuition due this month I might have bought it. I buy variants sometimes, it's kind of random when I decide to and when I don't. I don't but second or third printing variants, and even if I need a back issue and that's all that is available I won't get it.
JoshThaGod
ALWAYS have to get direct editions! (1st prints!) I have deadpool 1 2 and 11, my 11 is getting cgcd now. how do you know cable and deadpool is ending at 50? i hope cable books go up! cause he died! haha. ya i wanna get more deadpool back issues. they are not that expensive at all. since deadpool is not a major character. and if they are gonna come out with a new deadpool series im def getting a variant of issue 1. but ya 43 ended with wolverine cutting off deadpools head.... erm, i wounder how hes comin back from that one! EDIT: dude, u got the whole 52 series? quick question BLACK ADAM, what can you tell me about him? all i really got from the guy that runs sci fi is that his wife got killed and he went nuts and started killing everyone and a huge group of heroes couldnt even stop him... like, whats his powers? and if u know anymore id like to know more story on him? i got black adam issue 1, and it doesnt give me much info other than he ressurected his wife. indy500fan
Do you get a lot of comics CGC'd? I haven't tried that yet, but I really haven't had any worth it yet either. If I start getting some of the old Uncanny I probably will get those done. How much does it cost? Well, I know Deadpool is getting his own series again starting in 2008. A friend told me C&D would end at 50, since Cable is dead and everything, but I don't know where he heard it. Marvel has up to 46 on their website, which is coming in October. (There are spoilers about the 52 series in here, so don't read if you don't want to know. Sounds like you know the big part already though, this is all about what is leading up to that) The only DC stuff I have read is 52, so I don't know much at all. His powers are gained by saying "Shazam," which gives him the powers of six Egyptian gods. Super strength, invulnerability, super speed, vast knowledge, some magic, inner strength (courage). He is a ruler of an African country. At an opening of an embassy of his he brought along a criminal who came to his country for emancipation. He then proceeded to tear the man in half, because the man was a criminal, and he did this on live television. Obviously he was a brutal ruler, but as far as I can tell he tried to be a "good guy" also. Then he met a captured woman who was given to him as a present, and fell in love with her (after killing the slavers of course). She changed him to be a more beneficent ruler, less harsh and more caring. Eventually they married. He shared his "shazam" power with her and her brother, and they changed the country for the better. Then someone killed the brother, and then someone killed the wife. He was very, very, very unhappy about this, and decided to kill everyone. And I mean everyone. That was World War III, which only lasted a week. Eventually the heroes of the world stopped him, like they always do. That is only stuff that happened in 52. I'm not sure about anything that happened before that, and there shouldn't be anything happening with him after that. I don't collect DC stuff though so I don't know. JoshThaGod
They stopped him? or just made him stop killing everyone? sounds like a GOD like hero! pretty badass. im glad to have jumped on him. This is my first time getting a comic cgc'ed, ill tell you what i know about it (By the way, FIND THE VALUE OF YOUR BOOK BEFORE YOU GET IT CGC'ed! Most stuff from the 90s like uncanny xmen, not worth NOTHING! i got a few myself (Uncanny Xmen #334 and #335) The return of the jugernaught and onslaught. My cable like i said im getting CGCed for me, and because he died (Issue 1 cable) and my issue 11 Deadpool because the cover is awsome. Ok here is how it works, atleast here (in florida) You pay like 18 dollars to get a regular comic under 200dollars in value CGC'ed, anything with a Signature on it (like, if u get ur comic signed, also known as signature series) costs 26 dollars. Also, if you get a comic signed, to be able to get it CGC'ed u need to get it done right than and there (Like, Sci Fi in orlando sends comics in to get CGCed so when the guy signed my comic i than told them i wanted to get it sent in to get CGCed) if not u have to have a actual CGC person verify the signature WHEN it get signed, lol. Also, depending on how much the comic is worth also depends on the price of a comic getting cgc'ed. so a comic can range from 18 dollars to get it cgced, to possibly a thousand or more! (although i think there is a price cap) so if you know a comic is GOING to be valuable, its good to get it CGC'ed sooner than later, it will cost less, also your suppost to get your book CGCed every 7-10 years. AND lets say you get World War Hulk CGC'ed and it comes back a 9.8.... well, when u send it in 7 years later, and they cgc it again, no matter its condition it will still be graded a 9.8 when u get it re-CGC'ed. they just reseal your book. By the way if you do it through the CGC website, its an extra 2 dollars to get it shipped there and 2 dollars back i belive (PER BOOK!) I hope i gave you enough info about that, any specifics ask me and i will see if i can answer them :) (or ill make it a question to ask Sci-Fi when i go next time. maybe a week from now to check my box) Controversy and Chaos!!! cryztalwing
I have lot's of Superman comic's. I still have the 3 unopen black poly bag issue of Death of Superman were he his killed by Doomsday when they frist came out. The thing about the Batman & Robin the moive is how they made Bane. They really should have just keep Bane out of that movie, and made a differnt one with Batman going up agianst Bane like in the Knightfall story line. One thing I don't like, is how the price's for each issue just seem's to keep going up..
JoshThaGod
lol just to let you know your death of superman is not worth anything :-D a prime example of most comics from the 90s not being worth anything. My local comic shop has people try to come in numourous times a week trying to trade in that comic, lol... Controversy and Chaos!!!
Death45
i don't rly collect them, i just have a few simpsons comics issues 100, 95, 59, and 122 futurama comic issue #1. and some other comics that i've lost
indy500fan
That's pretty much how I thought CGC worked, but I didn't know you were supposed to get them redone every 7-10 years. I have the opportunity to buy Uncanny X-Men 137 (end of The Dark Phoenix Saga), if I get it I'll probably get it CGC'd.
