I have recently been scammed out of over thirty-seven million RuneScape GP by a well-trained scammer. This scammer, whom I sadly cannot name due to the forum rules, attempts to become a friend with unsuspecting players, and when he succeeds, uses the "Trust Trade" routine to lend items from players. At first he borrows one or two items and uses the reason that he needs it to level up his skills. Then, he returns it to the players after a certain period of time, gaining their trust (which I have mistakenly given him). Eventually, he will request to lend items of greater value (For example, barrows items, which he would generously offer to repair after he is finished with them, and the dragonfire shield, with the reason that he wanted to find out the maximum defence possible by a player. When he got a hold of these items, he logs out with the reason "Chores", and never talks to you again. I even caught him having a bank sale on the forums and in world 2! I had my friend check out what he is selling, and what do you know, it is every item I have given him sold at a reduced price. Three players have fallen victim to the scammer:

 

 

My question: How do I report this scammer if he has not actively expressed his intentions of scamming? Would he get away with it, or would he be IP banned? Please reply. Do NOT flame me. I am slightly annoyed how I have not discovered this trap sooner, given my 168 IQ.

you cant, and why would you lend 37 mil of stuff to a person you dont even know irl, and have only talked to for 2 months

There we go! That's the fault in the JaGeX Abuse Report system. If there is no way to report him, then wouldn't he live happily ever after making people miserable by scamming them out of their money?

 

 

 

And I guess I lent him the items out of pity; after all, he did seem poor at the time.

You could try to report him but it would not do you much good seeing as how Jagex is partially blind to that sort of thinng

Now you know what happens when ya trust them thar internet types... You could always barrage him with telothers or rubber chicken smacks, if that would make you feel better...

send a report to jagex via customer support, and and barrage his private chat with "scammer" until he puts you on ignore. Then barrage him with teleothers. Then get all mad at yourself for giving him 37 mil's worth of stuff, and jagex ignoring the customer service thing you sent, and the stupid autoreply you got, until you go outside and do this: :wall:

Unfortunatly, the only thing you can do is see if he will return your items, Without proof of a scam, Jagex can do nothing.

 

 

 

I suppose youshould let this be a lesson. I would have to know someone for ages before I'd trust them with anything of mine. There are just too many such scammers nowadays, so you have to be careful. :?

You are an idiot on rs if you lend out any items that you want to not lose.

 

 

 

 

 

I don't even allow my longest term rs mates borrow stuff i want/need such as d axe, weapons armour.
