alcoolj
Taken from tip.it Disk of Returning Info: There was once a black hole where rule breakers were put; they could never get out. If players who hadn't broken the rules wanted to visit the black hole, they could purchase a disk of returning from the shop outside the black hole for 10gp. To get out of the black hole, there was previously a right click option on the disk, "spin disk." Reason for being rare: The black hole has been taken out of the game, and the shop that sold disks of returning no longer exists.
Yagami
Back in the good old days, There used to be an area where banned characters could log into and you wouldn't be able to leave the area, Your friends could join you there and buy a Disk of Returning before going in, When they wanted to leave they'd use it to get back out. Some people still had the Disks when they removed the area for banned people to log in, But the place where they where sold was removed too, therefore they became a "Discontinued" Item, Which causes their prices to be so high today. I would like to get the most difficult 99 in the game to accomplish. which is woodcutting. because I had a drunken night in philadelphia and sprayed a fire extinguiser, evacuated a 7 story hotel on the philly stadium, spent the night in jail.. then got on level 2 prob & have to pay 50 a month because I have a job. It's their way of collecting more money out of me.

meol
If Phats do nothing why do people want them for? The rarity of the item makes it a wealth status and a good, safe investment. This signature is intentionally left blank.
Lordtunkuta
i still dont get it. -_- if they serve no purpose, and the only way u can boast about it is through trade, y do people want it so bad? anyway ty for answers
alcoolj
People want it because it can only get rarer, hence worth more. As more and more people quit with a disk on the account, or get banned with a disk ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ the disk YOU have is worth more. Same with Phats, Santas, Easter Eggs, Pumpkins, Masks etc. Wearable rares are seen as both an investment as well as a symbol of wealth/longevity while non-wearable rares are more of an investment only.
