superaymond
Well, before i bought the laptop, on of my friend told me that i should buy the additional ram with the laptop when i order it cause it will be more expensive.. Now, i am trying to buy an additional 1 g or 2 g ram.. and realize that the price does vary, but the speed of the ram varies too.. (667mh.. 800mh) My current ram (1g) comes from lenovo which is 1 g with 667 mh... on the site, it cost around 74 cdn dollar.. on other canadian computer sites, there are rams tat is also 1gb but 225mh speed.. costing around 49 cdn dollar.. If i have both the higher speed ram with the lower speed ram together on a laptop, would it go wrong?? I know it will probably be a bit slower.. but would there be conflict.. having one faster than the other?? Thanks Dark Phoenix Clan Site
blade995
If you put slower ram with faster ram nothing will go wrong except the faster ram will need to downclock to the specs to the slowest ram in the laptop. If your laptop has 667mhz ram, do not get slower than this because it will make ram performance worse. Get the same speed or higher but it will do no good because it will downclock. 667mhz ram would be DDR2 ram. The 225mhz stuff you said would most likely be DDR, which would not be compatible with each other. Make sure it's laptop ram and not desktop (that should be obvious). I believe laptop DDR2 ram is 200pin.

blade995
wats 200 pin? The amount of pins the ram has. I put it there so it's easier for you to tell what type of ram you need.
weezcake
lol, buying the RAM with the laptop is usually a lot more expensive than buying it yourself and putting it in yourself. But as he said, do not buy the slower RAM. Check your RAM type, and be sure to buy a compatible stick.. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
